I've also worked with Cruse, the bereavement charity, supporting clients with their grief.
Are you feeling "how do I deal with this" or "how can I change things" and you just don't know where to start.........then I can help. Counselling can make a huge difference to how you live your life. People come to therapy for all sorts of reasons and you're certainly not alone if you are finding making the first move quite daunting. I provide a quiet, safe space where you can freely discuss your fears, worries, hopes and dreams without judgement. This will allow you to gain a greater understanding of where you are now, where you want to be and how to get there.

You’ve tried to push through. You’ve read the books, listened to podcasts, maybe even told yourself it’s “not that bad.” But deep down, you know something isn’t shifting. The anxiety lingers, your confidence takes a hit, and the same patterns keep showing up in your relationships. If you’re feeling overwhelmed, disconnected, or stuck in survival mode, you don’t have to navigate it alone.

Life can be unpredictable, and sometimes we’re faced with events that shake our sense of stability — whether it’s the loss of someone important, relationship difficulties, anxiety, low mood, or feelings that are hard to name.
My background includes working in NHS mental health services and in hospice care, which has deepened my understanding of how uncertain and challenging life events can be. These experiences have shaped the way I work: with openness, honesty, and a deep respect for each person’s unique story.

Time4Hope has been established during my 18 years of working with parent/carers who have children/young people with Complex, Profound, Autistic and Life Limited Disabilities. My goal during counselling is to reduce the severe distress often experienced by parents, when trying to meet their children's high and challenging needs. Counselling can identify the causes of pressures and develop new strategies to build stronger resilience. I also counsel children and adults with a range of struggles such as low-self esteem and confidence. Together we will explore the experiences that have created this and undo unhelpful patterns.

My specialism is bereavement, I am comfortable working with death, and I help my clients come to terms with life after loss.
The client is the most important person in a counselling relationship, my job is to help you feel valued, and understood so you also believe this. My ideal client will want to work towards processing their feelings, achieving their goals and be willing to work with me to make this happen. I like to work with clients that are struggling with making sense of life. Feeling unable to move on from past experiences, having that space and time to reflect and process things can make a huge difference. I enjoy cultivating an environment to help my clients work through life's challenges.

Experiencing the loss of a parent in childhood shaped my path into counselling.
Many of the people I work with feel weighed down by constant worry, low mood, or the sense that they’re just not being heard or understood. You might notice your thoughts and emotions are affecting your work, relationships, and ability to cope day-to-day. I’m here to offer a calm, welcoming space where you can feel safe to share what’s on your mind – without judgment or pressure. Together, we’ll explore what’s going on for you, and I’ll walk alongside you as you begin to find ways forward that feel authentic and manageable for you.

The loss of a loved one, or a job can provoke a crisis.
Establishing a warm authentic relationship in which you are heard and accepted will be at the heart of our work together. As an integrative therapist, I can then draw on different tools to explore you past history or work with what is 'here & now'. I may offer psychoeducation or mindfulness exercises. I tailor my approach to find a way forward that fits

Bereavement Counsellors

How long does therapy take for grief?

There is no exact timeline for grief counseling. Some people may start to feel better after just a few sessions, while others may take months or longer to feel relief. Some specific approaches, including some types of CBT, may involve a set number of sessions, or therapy may be open-ended until the patient determines they are ready to wrap up. Just as there is no right or wrong way to grieve, there is no right or wrong way to seek therapy for grief.

When should you seek therapy for grief?

Many people mistakenly believe that their grief needs to be debilitating or all-encompassing to warrant therapy. This is not the case. While people who experience severe, prolonged grief—particularly those who are considering self-harm or engaging in unhealthy substance use—are especially likely to benefit from therapy, so too are people whose grief is less intense but still interfering with well-being or daily functioning. In practice, almost anyone struggling to process a loss could benefit from grief counseling.

Can grief be managed without therapy?

Oftentimes, yes. Grief is a near-universal part of being human, and many find that their grief, while profound, does not stop them from participating in day-to-day life and steadily eases over time without outside help. For others, however, the harsh pain of early grief persists for months or years or leaves them unable to function. This group is especially likely to benefit from seeing a therapist, who can guide them through their grief and help them reconnect with the world.

What happens if grief is left untreated?

Because grief does not in itself necessitate therapy, untreated grief will often resolve on its own. However, for some people—particularly those who would qualify for a diagnosis of prolonged grief disorder—untreated grief can be a source of seemingly endless pain or lead them to withdraw from the world. In such cases, treatment can be indispensable, as it can help an individual adapt to the loss and start living again.
