Parents contact me because they are concerned about their child's behaviour or development, sometimes they can see that their child is worried, cross or seems sad.
I always start with a full assessment so we can understand why a concern is there, and why it isn't getting better by itself, as often things do. Any intervention is then tailor-made, based on this understanding. Sometimes I work just with parents, sometimes 1:1 with the child and sometimes with the whole family. I use a range of evidence-based approaches.

The anxiety lingers, your confidence takes a hit, and the same patterns keep showing up in your relationships.
Clients often tell me they value my calm, genuine presence and the way I make therapy feel safe yet down-to-earth. If humour feels right for you, we can use it. If creative methods like art, music, or writing help you express yourself, we can explore them. We might also work with body awareness—helping you notice and release the physical tension.

You might find yourself stuck in the same patterns in relationships, saying yes when you want to say no, overthinking every interaction, or feeling low and anxious without really knowing why.
Together we’ll gently trace the threads between past and present – the patterns you keep getting pulled into, the roles you find yourself playing, the beliefs about yourself that may have started a long time ago. As we notice these patterns with curiosity , new choices often begin to appear – in how you respond, what you allow, and how you care for yourself.

Please note I am not currently taking new clients. We all face difficult times in life, sometimes those feelings can stay with us, getting in the way of how we want to live and what feels meaningful. Having a safe, supportive space can make it easier to understand what’s happening and find a way forward. My expertise is grounded in evidence-based therapies, including Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR), Schema Therapy and Reflective Practise all of which I draw upon to support you.

Life can often rush past us and we can forget about ourselves, who we are, and what it is we want and need, whilst everyone else in our lives comes before we do. You might be realising that you want more from your life and for that to happen, changes need to be made. Maybe you have realised it is something that is not possible for you to do alone, and that working out what boundaries you can put in place is something that you can benefit from. Trying to get through these challenges alone can make us feel overwhelmed and unsure about who we are, and if change is even possible.

When should I seek treatment for anxiety?
Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.

What are the most common types of treatment for anxiety?
Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioural therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioural Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.

How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?
The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.

How effective is treatment for anxiety?
Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
