No matter what brings you to therapy, your experience matters. You may notice patterns repeating, intense emotions that don’t let up, or physical sensations that leave you on edge without a clear reason. Our brains and bodies often react long before we understand why, and therapy can help you make sense of these responses rather than feeling ruled by them.

Having worked for years in an NHS Autism diagnostic service as a clinical lead speech & language therapist, & supported people with varying communication profiles, I bring skill, experience & sensitivity to therapeutic conversations with my neurodivergent clients, & also work with clients who are parents or partners of Autistic people.
Hello. Whatever your situation, therapy can help. I know from my own experience that we're all capable of developing awareness, & of change - & finding the right counsellor is often the beginning of that process. Through a series of therapeutic conversations, I can help you with a range of experiences including loss & bereavement, relationship & family difficulties, sadness, anxiety & questions around purpose & identity. I now offer in-person sessions in Hove, Lewes and Steyning, or we can meet online, or Walk & Talk.

I understand how hard getting support can feel; not knowing how talking might help or if you’re ready to let someone share your inner world. Finding the right fit for you shouldn’t also be part of the struggle. Most people come to therapy to stop hiding. But for Neurodivergent and LGBTQ+ communities, the therapy can sometimes feel like another place where you must mask, explain yourself, or justify your sensory needs. Whether you’re processing or exploring ADHD/Autism/AuDHD, exploring your gender or sexuality, or just ‘managing’ living in an inhospitable world, I provide a space where you don't have to translate yourself.

Therapy can be a place where your experience is taken seriously, and where you feel seen as a whole person—not just in your role as a parent.
Psychodynamic Therapist for Mothers & Women Navigating Identity, Relationships & Matrescence. You may love your child deeply, yet feel overwhelmed, lost, or unlike yourself. Perhaps your relationships feel strained, or you find yourself reacting in ways you don’t fully understand. Many women are surprised by the emotional and psychological impact of motherhood—not just in the early days, but across the whole journey of caring for others. I offer a space where you can begin to make sense of these experiences—without judgement, pressure, or expectation.

Using mental health as a catalyst for change; as an opportunity for innovation. Working in partnership with children, young people, adults, families & professionals around issues that matter to them by finding a joint focus of our work, using my own knowledge & that of the client to help them make a meaningful change in their lives. Sometimes one knows what hurts them & what they need to address; at other times, finding the focus & courage to push through can be the toughest thing. I work gently with compassion, clarity & commitment to the essential needs of all my clients.

I also work with parents and carers.
Sometimes it’s difficult to know where you can turn to talk through family issues and get some help. Often those closest to you are very involved themselves. Or you don’t want to worry them. It may be that you don’t know where to turn. I am a highly experienced Child Psychotherapist. I offer therapy and mental health support for children and young people and consultation to the people who care for them. Therapy provides a safe space to explore issues that might be troubling someone, be it anxiety, stress and unhappiness; separation and loss; worries about school; gender and sexuality; low self esteem or any number of other things.

Recognising that children’s lives are rooted in their family, I also offer a supportive space for parents and carers to think together with me about presenting concerns.
My relationship-based, creative approach to therapy is child-centred. I support safe exploration and expression of difficult thoughts and feelings using PACE (playfulness, acceptance, curiosity and empathy). Sand-tray work, puppets, clay, movement, art, play, music and talking are just some of the ways we might work together towards positive change.

I also offer consultation sessions for parents, and supervision for other therapists and education staff.
A comprehensive psychological (non-diagnostic) assessment and formulation is a powerful way to support where things are confusing or you're working so hard but nothing seems to be changing. I can help you make sense of things and offer realistic therapeutic recommendations, especially if there is both trauma and a query about neurodiversity in the picture.

Are you feeling anxious, low, overwhelmed, or disconnected from yourself or the people around you? Perhaps you find yourself stuck in familiar relationship patterns, struggling to cope, or unsure of who you are and what you want. When life starts to feel heavy or confusing, therapy can offer a place to slow down, breathe, and find your footing again. My existential analytic approach focuses on looking beneath the surface, helping you understand the why behind your feelings, thoughts, and behaviours. Rather than trying to “fix” symptoms, we’ll work together to make sense of them.

Parenting Counsellors
What does therapy for parenting look like?
Therapists may work with parents individually, together, or include the whole family to find solutions for the problems a parent faces. Many parent-based therapies work on a parent’s relationship with their children, problem-solving within the family, and analysis of family dynamics. Therapy conducted remotely by video may be helpful in allowing a therapist to observe how families interact in their own homes.

When should a parent seek therapy?
When behavioral problems begin to disrupt the healthy functioning of a family, it may be a good time to look into therapy. If parents find that children are acting out in school, have started using drugs or alcohol, have developed eating disorders, or other similar red flags, a therapist may be able to help.

How long does therapy take for parenting problems?
Depending on the severity of a family’s challenges and the type of treatment utilized, therapy for parenting can last from weeks to months. Cognitive behavioral therapy is a pragmatic therapy type that can be brief, most often ranging from between 5 and 20 sessions. Structural family therapy, which inspects family dynamics, often takes several months. Parent-child interaction therapy is typically shorter-term, lasting between 10 and 20 sessions. For any therapy, the duration will depend on the progress made and results realized.

Can therapy help parents dealing with burnout or stress?
Parenting is difficult. Parents may dismiss or conceal feelings of exhaustion, overwhelm, or escape ideation—imagining withdrawing from their parental obligations altogether. but left unattended, these feelings can have negative effects on the whole family. A therapist can help parents work on the skills they might need to better cope with the burdens of parenting and help them be the best parents they can be.
