Welcome. I'm Zoe Purse. I provide counselling to individuals and young people in the lovely Rossendale Valley, Lancashire. I work from home in a purpose built log cabin in rural surroundings yet right in the heart of town. There is easy access to local transport and motorway links. I have also supported people with life limiting illness or with bereavement and loss counselling at a hospice in Manchester. I am passionate about helping people who are going through difficult, emotional turmoil and understand that everyone is unique. I offer support with understanding and empathy along side being non-judgmental, caring and genuine.
There is so much focus these days on "What's wrong with you" using terms such as 'depression', 'anxiety', 'disorder', rather than talking about "What happened to you?" Your mental health is much more than just a label or a diagnosis and therapy offers so much more than just talking. It can give you new understanding, new insights, a different perspective, clarity about a problem and the way forward. It can teach you skills to live your life better, teach you more healthy coping strategies or simply give you the space and time for self reflection and a place to find peace of mind.
Are you a member of the LGBTQ community looking for therapy? I have worked at both the LGBT Foundation and also in private practice, some issues clients have come to me with include self-identity, I understand the different pronouns, terminology and subsections that people associate with. Worries and fears of coming out to family and friends, social stigma and also negotiating diverse relationships. Working together I can support you to build your self-worth, confidence and to become your true self. I also support straight couples with communication, conflict and worries about relationship breakdown.
If you experience daily stress, anxiety, self-esteem, procrastination, phobias and existential issues without really knowing why, there’s a good chance that you can better understand your emotional and behavioural patterns and resolve these inner difficulties in a positive way. I can help you do this. I have a deep understanding of the waking, dreaming and sleeping mind and the phenomena of lucid dreaming, out of body experiences, sleep paralysis, night terrors, insomnia and various other parasomnias that disturb a good night’s sleep and can make you feel tired and drained in the daytime. I can help you to sleep and dream better.
If you have reached this page then you have taken the most difficult step in looking for support. Now it's just a matter of reaching out. Chances are you may be experiencing some emotional difficulty or you may be struggling to make sense of your thoughts, feelings & experiences, or break old habits or patterns of behaviour. To find more balance or clarity around what’s going on for you. Or you may just know that you want to change an area of your life. So whatever your reason for seeking support I firmly believe that you can do this and benefit, from a period of therapy. It is just a matter of reaching out and trusting the process.

I also work to a trusted assessment process and formulate a bespoke transformational journey; that removes all blind spots, fear, anxiety, and self-doubt. Allowing my clients to make accurate decisions, smarter, so they maximize their own personal results in less time, feeling “free to be themselves” living the choices, relationship's and life they were meant for!
We are all unique to one another, yet one thing is undoubtedly the same about us all, we all deserve to be listened too, empathised with & allowed to speak openly with no judgement. This is the environment and safe space I, as a therapist aim to provide. As YOUR therapist I am here to listen profoundly. To create a safe & calming space to which you feel comfortable enough to talk about any troubles/issues which you may be facing right now in the present moment, situations and traumas from your past, or overwhelming worries about your future.

Sometimes the issues we face paralyse us with anxieties. Sometimes we have no one in our lives who are able to help or we may not want to burden others. It’s difficult to trust people with our innermost worries, feelings and thoughts. Yet we all need help to get through difficult periods in our lives. It may be that friends and family tell us to stop dwelling on the past or try and move on. But no matter how hard we try, the past hangs around to haunt us or we have no words to describe what we feel. Additionally, we may wish to explore our experience for personal or professional reasons.
Are you wondering how to help your family thrive? Is your child displaying behaviour you do not understand? Does your child have a diagnosis and you are confused as what to do next. In this modern world raising children is hard and I welcome families and children into my specially designed play room to help rebuild these connections and understandings of each other. During this pandemic children are struggling and I want to help them and you work through understanding of the world around them and help with anxiety that have arisen from the current situation.
There may be specific issues you are trying to work through, or you may be experiencing a more general loss of personal direction. Either way, the decision to begin counselling can be a really daunting one. I understand and I'm here to share the challenge with you. You're in safe hands.
You may have suffered with mental ill-health on and off for years, or it may be something you’ve noticed recently. To benefit from talking therapy, it’s less about what the issue is, or the severity of your mental/emotional wellbeing but more about your readiness to talk and be open to learning about yourself. It can be an emotionally draining process as you face up to difficulties you’ve experienced during your life. My aim is to provide the support you need throughout the process and to fully accept you for who you are. Even if you find it difficult to accept parts of yourself. Clients often leave sessions feeling much lighter.

Life, and our lived experience of it, is complex. Often times we choose not to look into this complexity for fear of being overwhelmed by unwanted truths and emotions. This approach may work for some of us for a while, however for most - life will confront us with pain that is difficult to ignore. The avoidance of this pain or reality is what leads to mental health symptoms and prolonged distress. However, life does not need to be so difficult. If you would like to make sense of your life and unique lived experienced in order to lead a more fulfilled existence, please get in touch.
I am a qualified therapeutic Integrative Counsellor supporting children, adolescents & adults, either face to face, by telephone or online (via zoom). From our work together, I hope to facilitate your personal growth and self-development thus enabling you to make peace or find resolution of current or past difficulties.
Hi I'm Angela. Coming to counselling can feel like such a big step. There may be an obvious reason as to why you're feeling low, such as bereavement or a traumatic event. Equally you could be feeling sad and you don't really understand why. Perhaps you're struggling with anxiety or depression, or you're having panic attacks? Many people are struggling with their mental health for the first time due to COVID 19. Whatever you're going through I'd like to help you feel better. I'm trained in both Person Centred Counselling and Internal Family Systems Therapy (IFS). You can choose to work with either model or a combination of the two.
