Sometimes life doesn't go the way we want it to, or turn out as expected - these experiences can be overwhelming, possibly leading to anxiety or depression.
Being an Integrative Counsellor, I can employ multiple therapies and techniques, allowing us to work together on what works best for you as an individual - instead of a 'one method suits all' approach. I bring a wealth of ability and compassion to my practice, empowering you to explore & understand your inner thoughts, and overcome personal challenges.

We support individuals experiencing anxiety, depression, grief, trauma, addiction, anger, stress, identity and relationship difficulties.
I work from the understanding that human experience includes distress, conflict, and harm, and that avoiding these realities is neither helpful nor therapeutic. In the therapy room, I offer a non-judgemental, reflective space where clients can explore their experiences honestly and at their own pace. My role is not to impose interpretations or provide simplistic reassurance, but to listen carefully, ask meaningful questions, and support clients in developing insight, emotional awareness, and psychological resilience.I see therapy as a collaborative process grounded in respect, autonomy, and ethical practice.

Hello and welcome to my page! I do hope you enjoy reading about my approach to therapy. I am very passionate about the work that I do and I believe everyone has the right to a peaceful and fulfilling life.  Is this possible?.. I think so and I would love the opportunity to help you to figure that out, whatever that means to you. Are you someone who has been told they are 'too complex'  to work with? Having thoughts of ending your life because things are becoming so hard?  Have you experienced something lately or historically that is causing you some distress? Then I am your woman! I am not afraid to work with anyone who needs help!

Hello, and welcome. Sometimes we all face things that we can find difficult to make sense of and reaching out for help can seem like the hardest thing to do. I'm here beside you as we navigate through the stormy waters together. I have worked for many years with children, young people, their parents and carers and adults. The work I have done has enabled me to develop understanding of the challenges faced at different stages in life, and I aim to hold you and your experiences at the core with compassion and warmth to help you understand what shaped your history and your person.

When should I seek treatment for anxiety?
Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.

What are the most common types of treatment for anxiety?
Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioural therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioural Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.

How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?
The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.

How effective is treatment for anxiety?
Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
