The intrusive thoughts loop, the compulsions demand attention, or the anxiety sits on your chest like a permanent weight
My approach blends Internal Family Systems, Gestalt therapy, somatic work, and music therapy—which means we might talk about the different parts of yourself that compete for airtime, work with what's happening in your body when words fail, or use sound and creativity when traditional talk therapy hits a wall.

I have experience in working with a range of presentations including anxiety, depression, stress, trauma, bereavement, OCD, fertility, self-esteem issues, infidelity, sexuality and relationship difficulties.
The therapeutic process helps identify and understand what is happening in your inner world, in your relationships, your behavioural patterns and the difficulties in you experience. I work holistically with an evidence based theoretical framework. I believe that fundamentally we seek to know ourselves, to attune to our relationships, and to make sense of our story. These insights provide a foundation for a stronger sense of self, more fulfilling relationships, and an expanded perspective on life. Whilst therapy can provide symptomatic relief, my hope is that it will also bring you deeper awareness and sustainable progress.

You might be someone who thinks and feels deeply—and often finds the world overwhelming or like it wasn’t built with you in mind. You may have spent years masking, pushing through, or wondering why life seems harder than it should. Maybe you've been told you're too sensitive—or you’ve just never quite felt like you fit in. You carry a lot, even if no one sees it.
What you want might be simple: to stop holding it all in. To speak freely, feel understood, and not have to pretend. A place where your pain is taken seriously—and where you don’t have to go through it alone.

Everyone copes with difficult feelings and life situations in their own way. But there are times when we feel stuck or overwhelmed, and strategies that once helped no longer seem effective. This might follow the loss of a relationship, a life transition, or even being deeply affected by something that seems small or insignificant.

Burnout can take you from persistent stress to anxiety and, if not interrupted, depression.
As a counsellor, I help people to step off the burnout path and re-engage with their lives. Helping those with burnout is my mission - I also give client burnout workshops for counsellors, I've written articles about it, and I persuaded the three main online counselling directories to list burnout as a client search term and a counsellor specialism.

When should I seek treatment for anxiety?
Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.
What are the most common types of treatment for anxiety?
Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioural therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioural Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.
How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?
The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.
How effective is treatment for anxiety?
Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
