I have experience supporting neurodivergent adults, whether diagnosed, self-identified, or exploring what neurodivergence means for them, as well as parents and carers of neurodivergent children who often feel isolated, exhausted, and burdened by guilt.
You may be feeling exhausted, overwhelmed, and alone, unsure where to turn. You might find that those around you don’t quite get it. I’m here to listen, without judgement. You don’t need to mask, justify yourself, or have the right words. I’ll sit with you and help you feel less alone with whatever you’re carrying. I’m not here to fix you, because you’re not broken. We will work together to understand what brought you to this point, help you make sense of your feelings and experiences, and determine what you need to make changes in your life, if that's what you want to do.

I understand that seeking therapy can be both comforting and daunting, but it can also be liberating and I commend individuals who reach out for help. Our pain can often be a message that there is something amiss in our lives, and I believe it is important that we listen to that message. Whether you are dealing with a difficult time in your life and need help managing the emotions and thoughts, I aim to assist individuals to better understand the relationship between their feelings and thoughts and explore ways to change maladaptive patterns.

Everyone experiences a wide range of feelings in life. You may be experiencing difficulties at home, work, college or university, with relationships, health and other life struggles. You may have reached a point in life where you need more than a friendly ear and I appreciate that seeing a counsellor can seem overwhelming. My aim is to provide a professional, but warm, confidential non-judgemental, caring, safe environment where you and I can explore your difficulties together. I place a lot of emphasis on our relationship, with us getting to know each-other and working collaboratively to improve your wellbeing.

I am dedicated to helping couples navigate the unique challenges and complexities that neurodiversity presents in their lives. With many years of experience, my approach is rooted in empathy, understanding, and the knowledge that whilst there are common themes in these relationships, each couple has unique dynamics. I believe in creating a space where clients can freely express their thoughts, emotions, and experiences related to ADHD, ASD and the role it plays between couples. Together, we will work to develop effective strategies to increase understanding and help you navigate conflict and enhance communication.

All of us, at some point in our lives, may experience challenges that could lead to anxiety and depression or ‘stuckness’. These feelings usually stem from not knowing how to communicate needs and emotions or process deeply stressful thoughts and experiences in a way that can bring relief. This is the time to reach out for therapy where you can learn (and unlearn) those behavioural patterns that stop you from becoming the best possible version of yourself. You can develop coping strategies that help you to become a happier and more fulfilled individual now and in the future.

Perhaps when you just want someone who will listen to you, a space to off-load where there is no worry about saying the wrong thing, the fear of being judged or where feeling like you are being an imposition. I am here to help you when you are ready to take the next step.

My name is Maiia, and I'm a psychotherapist offering private therapy sessions online, over the phone or in person (you choose!). Life can be challenging. Sometimes it feels unfair, unjust even. You might feel lonely, misunderstood or judged. I want you to know that reaching out takes real courage, and you've already taken the first step by being here. I won't promise you a magic pill that takes away your worries overnight. But here's what I can promise: I'll do my best to understand what it's like to be you. I'll stand by you. I'll be your best ally as we work through whatever you're facing right now.

I have extensive experience working in NHS, school, community, and charity settings, supporting children, young people, parents, and adults through 1:1, parent-child therapy, and group psychotherapy.
Have you ever felt that words alone don’t fully capture what you’re experiencing—especially when emotions feel tangled, overwhelming, or stuck in familiar patterns? I support young people and adults who sense there’s more beneath the surface and want a gentle, thoughtful way to understand themselves more deeply. I offer a calm, supportive, and creative space where we can explore at your own pace. My integrative, compassionate approach may include working with images, objects, or words to connect with your inner world, gain insight, and move toward meaningful change. If this resonates, I invite you to reach out for a consultation.

There are times when life feels confusing and overwhelming. Perhaps a recent life event or specific issue, maybe experiences or memories from your past are affecting how you behave in the present in relationship to others and yourself. Talking to a counsellor offers you a space where you can explore your feelings. This can help you to notice the unhelpful or destructive patterns that accompany you in your life which can ultimately help you to gain a greater self-understanding and enable you to move forward in your life and relationships. With this there is an opportunity and possibility of change.

Parenting Counsellors
What does therapy for parenting look like?
Therapists may work with parents individually, together, or include the whole family to find solutions for the problems a parent faces. Many parent-based therapies work on a parent’s relationship with their children, problem-solving within the family, and analysis of family dynamics. Therapy conducted remotely by video may be helpful in allowing a therapist to observe how families interact in their own homes.

When should a parent seek therapy?
When behavioral problems begin to disrupt the healthy functioning of a family, it may be a good time to look into therapy. If parents find that children are acting out in school, have started using drugs or alcohol, have developed eating disorders, or other similar red flags, a therapist may be able to help.

How long does therapy take for parenting problems?
Depending on the severity of a family’s challenges and the type of treatment utilized, therapy for parenting can last from weeks to months. Cognitive behavioral therapy is a pragmatic therapy type that can be brief, most often ranging from between 5 and 20 sessions. Structural family therapy, which inspects family dynamics, often takes several months. Parent-child interaction therapy is typically shorter-term, lasting between 10 and 20 sessions. For any therapy, the duration will depend on the progress made and results realized.

Can therapy help parents dealing with burnout or stress?
Parenting is difficult. Parents may dismiss or conceal feelings of exhaustion, overwhelm, or escape ideation—imagining withdrawing from their parental obligations altogether. but left unattended, these feelings can have negative effects on the whole family. A therapist can help parents work on the skills they might need to better cope with the burdens of parenting and help them be the best parents they can be.
