I am a qualified psychotherapeutic counsellor with experience working with adults and 11-18 year olds. My approach is non-clinical as I want to provide a space where you can be yourself, feel relaxed, and explore you're issues with me in ways you find the most helpful. I am aware that many people communicate on a very superficial level, frightened they may be judged, won’t be liked, or don’t fit in. I fully believe we all deserve to be the best version of ourselves that we can be. By talking with me, I hope you will discover your full and true potential, which may enable you to make healthier choices and create positive changes. I am passionate about my work and consider it both a responsibility and a privilege to be actively engaged in my client’s exploration of their life and I offer you my full commitment and dedication

If you’re investigating psychotherapists right now, something in your life isn’t working. It may be that you’re struggling with feelings of depression or anxiety. Perhaps you’re having difficulties in your relationships, or at work. You might be carrying wounds from the past that you’re unable to let go of, or stored experiences are preventing you from leading the life you wish for yourself. Perhaps your coping mechanisms are no longer working or have become destructive, or maybe you feel there is something more that is calling to you, but you don't know what that something is.

Hello I’m Jeni. As an experienced Dramatherapist I have found that when things are too hard to talk about initially, creativity can help us to express and process and then release what no longer serves us. My private practice allows me to work online with adults, and young people, and in a Primary school with a specialist speech and language unit. I have also worked in numerous Secondary schools. I have experience in working with anxiety, low self esteem, pre and post bereavement, fostering and adoption (life story work) neurodiversity and survivors of sexual assault

You might feel anxious, depressed, frustrated, stuck, alone, angry, stressed, sad, or many of these at once, and I understand that it can sometimes be difficult opening up to family or friends. Perhaps you have had a recent change in your life that has brought on these feelings; maybe you feel you’d like to know more about yourself, or things might have been getting increasingly difficult for you over time. Whatever's going on for you, my role is to support you in working through your difficulties, helping you to strengthen and grow your coping mechanisms.

Sandplay Counsellors

What problems are best treated with sandplay therapy?

Research has examined this therapy’s utility in young people and found positive results. It has been shown to be useful for those who suffer from autism, attention deficit disorder, anxiety, and or aggressive behaviour. Children who have suffered abuse, neglect, or trauma have also seen improvement through this therapy. Abused children are often fearful and anxious about their safety, making verbal communication more difficult.

Is sandplay therapy suitable for children and teenagers?

Children and adolescents are good candidates for sandplay therapy. Many kids and teens are often unable to form and communicate their thoughts, let alone the emotions they are experiencing. Through this play therapy, they will hopefully make connections between what they feel inside and how the world works outside.

Is sandplay suitable for adults?

This type of therapy can be useful for adults who have difficulties expressing themselves. People who have suffered neurological changes after a brain injury or because of a traumatic event might be good candidates for this therapy. In fact, anything that has had an effect on the brain, such as substance abuse, can make non-verbal sandplay a valuable option.

Does sandplay therapy work?

There have been studies on the effectiveness of sandplay therapy, and it appears to improve difficult behaviours in children. It may also enhance self-esteem and lessen feelings of physical anxiety as well as hypersensitivity. This type of therapy is based on non-verbal communication and may feel less threatening to the individual.
