You may appear to be coping on the outside, but internally feel overwhelmed, stuck or emotionally exhausted. Perhaps certain patterns keep repeating in relationships, work feels harder than it should, or past experiences continue to influence how you think, feel or respond. You might be experiencing anxiety, emotional overwhelm, relationship difficulties or a growing sense that something needs to change. You’re looking for clarity, steadiness and a space where you can understand yourself more deeply, rather than just manage day to day.

I offer confidential therapy sessions in a safe, non judgemental environment. I believe everyone has the right to fulfil their potential so if something or someone is stopping that together we can work through the issue or reasons why you feel stuck. It can be easy to blame others but sometimes we need to look at ourselves to really see what is going on. The only person guaranteed to always be with you is YOU! so why not be the best possible version of yourself.

You may be functioning on the outside but struggling on the inside - experiencing depression, anxiety, or navigating significant life transitions such as bereavement, relationship difficulties, or ADHD related challenges.
My approach is psychodynamic. This means we pay attention not only to what is happening in your life now, but how earlier experiences may still be influencing you, often outside of conscious awareness. By gently exploring recurring emotional themes and relational patterns, we can uncover the deeper roots of current difficulties and support lasting change.

I'm a Consultant Clinical Psychologist and sleep and ADHD specialist with 20+ years of experience providing evidence-based psychological interventions (including CBT) for a range of difficulties including insomnia, adult ADHD, anxiety, work-related stress and burnout, trauma, OCD, health anxiety, phobias, self-esteem issues and relationship difficulties.
Psychological support is about investing in you. Life can be chaotic, intense, confusing, and we can be left feeling disconnected from ourselves, our lives, and the people around us. Sometimes we just need some space to stop and think. Psychological support is also about developing a deeper understanding of yourself - who you are, what you need, what matters to you. For others, it's about building on existing skills - how to get more out of relationships, improving communication, being more assertive, boosting your sleep and performance, learning to be the best version of yourself.

My focus will be on helping you understand the function they have served for you, where they come from, and how to bring about change I have experience of working with individuals who present with diagnoses such as ADHD, autism, with one or more of the many different personality disorder, and with individuals who experience psychotic states of mind.
Most people who seek counselling and psychotherapy do not come with a diagnosis; they come because they are struggling with what’s going on in their life and/or what’s going on in their mind, and they are looking for change.

There are many reasons why you might find yourself here. You may be working with a current issue, something rooted in your past or perhaps you are unsure but something does not feel 'right'. Whatever it may be, it takes courage to explore these issues. I offer a safe, non-judgemental and grounded space for you to feel at ease and begin to explore what is currently going on in your world at a pace that feels right for you. Together, we can begin to unpack what you are currently experiencing. We can begin to make sense of your thoughts and feelings and move towards a place of understanding and healing.

I bring a background as an artist and lived experience of neurodivergence ADHD into the room
If you've ever felt like you think and feel at a slightly different frequency to most people around you, like too much, too sensitive, too in your head this might be the right place. I work with people who are creative, curious, and often psychologically self-aware. People who feel things deeply. Who've probably already read a lot, thought a lot, and still find themselves stuck in patterns they can't quite shift from the outside. People drawn to understanding themselves - not just managing symptoms, but making genuine sense of who they are and why.

You've probably been working hard to manage your anger, and are finding yourself more frustrated than ever. The problem with anger is that the harder you try to manage it, the more stubborn it gets. But it's also incredibly misunderstood and there is so much more to learn about it. I don't work only with anger, in fact, a lot of my work with anger has come out of working around something else entirely.

Hello and welcome! I'm Laurie, an Integratively trained therapist. You might have heard this term but aren't quite sure what it means or how it could benefit you. Let me clarify: Being integratively trained means I've studied various therapeutic approaches, allowing me to tailor our work together to best suit your needs. I don't believe in a one-size-fits-all approach because no person is the same. So, we'll start by exploring what you feel might work best for you. If you've had therapy before that wasn't effective, we'll delve into why and If this is your first time, we'll discuss how I can best help with my skills and experience.

Navigating a new country with an ADHD brain (diagnosed or self-diagnosed) can be isolating and lead to complete burnout.
I blend deep psychodynamic insight with practical, ADHD-informed strategies. Together, we’ll explore the roots of your challenges while building real-world skills for focus and self-regulation. Using tools like ACT, mindfulness, and creative work, we create a path to profound healing and help you feel more in control. I work in English and Italian.

When should I seek treatment for ADHD?
You should seek treatment for ADHD if you consistently have difficulty with attention, hyperactivity, or impulsivity that interferes with your daily life. Symptoms of ADHD include the inability to sustain attention during tasks, difficulty organizing tasks and activities, being easily distracted, frequent fidgeting or squirming, and talking or interrupting excessively. If these symptoms interfere with your career, academics, or relationships—for example, consistently failing to complete professional projects on time—you should seek an evaluation for ADHD.

How does treatment for ADHD work?
Effective treatment for ADHD often consists of medication, behavioural therapy, and lifestyle changes. Stimulant medications such as Adderall and Ritalin work by altering levels of neurotransmitters in the brain; higher levels of dopamine and norepinephrine are known to improve attention and focus. Therapy works by helping people with ADHD understand the condition, discuss their areas of difficulty, and develop behavioral strategies to manage their symptoms. In some cases, modifying one’s diet and exercise can also help improve symptoms.

How long does treatment for ADHD take?
It’s tough to give an exact time frame because everyone varies. In terms of medications, stimulants begin to work very soon after you take them, generally within the hour. It may take time to identify the right medication and dosage, but the medication itself is fast-acting. In terms of therapy, it takes time to develop skills and put them into practice, but you will likely see improvements within a few weeks or months.
