You'll be surprised by how much can change for you. I am able to help people from all backgrounds and those who have exhausted all other options. I am trained to provide individuals, couples, and groups with evidence-based treatments for a range of difficulties that impact well-being and quality of life. My clients struggle with low mood and anxiety, and are affected by issues such as relationship problems, low self-esteem, trauma, sexual problems, loss and bereavement, or substance misuse. Many also experience a number of issues at once, making problems seem insurmountable. They often come to therapy feeling stuck and tired.

Being worried and anxious can effect our whole lives. It may mean that we start to complete rituals to combat this anxiousness or it may mean that we avoid things (e.g. going to school) and stop doing things we previously enjoyed (e.g. social activities like clubs or hobbies). Similarly, if we feel low it might be difficult to get out of bed or be active. We might feel different to others, like we don’t fit in or we are not good enough. We may also be experiencing urges to self-harm or be having suicidal thoughts. Together, we can explore these thoughts and outline a plan to help you to feel better.

Hi, how are you? Are you feeling stressed, perhaps a little depressed/low mood, or suffering with low self esteem, fear or issues such as anxiety ( including generalised anxiety disorder) anger? Panic attacks, self-harming, it might be that life has been just difficult to manage: relationships, childhood trauma, bereavement. If any of this sounds familiar, I might be able to help.

As a sex and relationship therapist I can help treat many kinds of sexual function issues that have psychological causes or impacts. I can also assist with life and relationship issues related to sex. In terms of relationship therapy, I help partners navigate conflict, manage emotional dysregulation and build better communication practices. I use a collaborative person centred approach which involves building a therapeutic relationship to establish and assess your feelings, thoughts and behaviors. I subscribe to the pluralist approach which means I use tools from other modalities in order to tailor the therapy to the individual.

You might feel like you're holding everything together while anxiety, overwhelm, or old patterns quietly run the show. Perhaps you lie awake replaying conversations, feeling guilty for not being "enough", or caught in cycles of self-criticism and people-pleasing. I offer integrative counselling and MAP coaching to help you understand why these patterns exist—not to fix them, but to work with them. Using IFS and person-centred therapy, we explore what drives your reactions and practice new responses. Together we work towards feeling more connected to yourself and able to set healthy boundaries.

FAQ - Therapist Gender
Does it matter what gender my therapist is?
In general, there is no relationship between a therapist’s gender and their efficacy. Some clients, however, prefer to see therapists of a particular gender, whether due to their own past experiences with men and women, or because they feel more comfortable with a therapist of their own gender due to shared life experiences or perspectives. Considering what one wants to address in therapy can help someone determine whether their therapist’s gender may matter or improve their therapeutic experience. The most important consideration is that a client is able to build a trusting relationship with their therapist.

Should I see a female therapist?
Many people—not just women—prefer to see a female therapist. For women, this could be because they believe that they will be able to better connect with a woman, and that a female therapist will be able to relate to their specific challenges and personal issues. It may be particularly beneficial for women to see a female therapist, for example, for gender-specific issues, such as sexism in the workplace, relationship issues, and gender roles. The most important factor in therapy is the client-therapist connection, and a therapist's gender as well as many other factors may play an important role in this.

Do therapists get specific training to help with women’s concerns?
Therapists are trained to provide care to clients of any gender. However, some therapists may pursue additional training in feminist therapy, gender-specific issues, or women’s mental health. Female clients may wish to ask prospective therapists whether they have received specific training in the client’s primary area(s) of concern, or whether they have worked extensively with women on issues similar to their own.

How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience in treating women?
It’s OK—even encouraged!—to ask a therapist directly whether and how often they have treated women in the past, or whether they have treated women dealing with the client’s most prominent concern(s). Competent therapists will be happy to share their educational background, preferred treatment modalities, and prior client experience to help an individual find the therapist best suited to their needs.
