Life can sometimes feel overwhelming. Stress, anxiety, and persistent thoughts can cloud your mind, leaving you unsure of how to regain control or find clarity. Often, the demands of others take priority, and self-care becomes an afterthought.

I've volunteered as a counsellor for three years and in practice since 2023, supporting teenagers/adults through challenges in trauma, bereavement, and life decisions.
Life can be challenging, and sometimes we keep pushing forward until we reach breaking point where we simply can’t anymore. When that happens, it can show up in our minds, our bodies, and our sense of who we are. You might feel as though you’re living on autopilot; disconnected, emotionally overwhelmed, or unsure of your direction. Perhaps you’re asking yourself, “Why can’t anyone see that I’m struggling?” Maybe you long to be heard, yet part of you wants to retreat from the world. Or perhaps past experiences or trauma have shaped your story in ways that still feel hard to untangle.

You may be questioning your drinking, drug use, or gambling, but are not sure you want to quit completely. If control feels harder than it should and the consequences are growing, therapy can help. I offer evidence-based support to help you understand your use, reduce harm and make choices that align with your values, whether that means cutting down or stopping. We focus on breaking patterns that pull you back, despite good intentions. I also offer treatment aftercare, mentoring, relapse prevention guidance, and support partners and families affected by addiction. A confidential first conversation can help you decide your next step.

Many people have had an experience of therapy in the past and it has not produced the results they wanted. This in part can be due to the person going to see a therapist who is trained in one specific therapeutic modality (approach), who then tries to make the client fit that one approach. Collaboratively, we will work together to help you feel better, happier, more in control and confident in who you are as a person. As you begin to understand yourself and why you do things more, this will open you up to greater awareness in all parts of your life; home, work and relationships.

Hello there and welcome. Sometimes life can be overwhelming for all sorts of reasons and we may need a little help to try and work our way through it. Counselling can give us the help we need, by offering a safe place to sit with someone who is there to help you through those tough times. I understand that the decision to have counselling can perhaps be a difficult one, but I believe that together we can ease those fears and anxieties. Then, as we begin to develop a therapeutic and healing relationship, you will hopefully begin to feel more able to share all that is on your mind.

Whether you’re coping with anxiety, depression, grief, low self-esteem, stress, relationship issues, family issues, the end of a relationship, living with chronic pain, low self-confidence, or simply feeling lost and burned out, you don’t have to face it alone.
Central to my work is fostering self-acceptance and self-compassion, which I believe are essential for making lasting, meaningful changes in life. It is a change that comes not from harsh self-judgement, but from understanding patience, and the belief that you are worthy of growth. This shift opens the door to real transformation and inner peace.

How long does therapy take for grief?
There is no exact timeline for grief counseling. Some people may start to feel better after just a few sessions, while others may take months or longer to feel relief. Some specific approaches, including some types of CBT, may involve a set number of sessions, or therapy may be open-ended until the patient determines they are ready to wrap up. Just as there is no right or wrong way to grieve, there is no right or wrong way to seek therapy for grief.
When should you seek therapy for grief?
Many people mistakenly believe that their grief needs to be debilitating or all-encompassing to warrant therapy. This is not the case. While people who experience severe, prolonged grief—particularly those who are considering self-harm or engaging in unhealthy substance use—are especially likely to benefit from therapy, so too are people whose grief is less intense but still interfering with well-being or daily functioning. In practice, almost anyone struggling to process a loss could benefit from grief counseling.
Can grief be managed without therapy?
Oftentimes, yes. Grief is a near-universal part of being human, and many find that their grief, while profound, does not stop them from participating in day-to-day life and steadily eases over time without outside help. For others, however, the harsh pain of early grief persists for months or years or leaves them unable to function. This group is especially likely to benefit from seeing a therapist, who can guide them through their grief and help them reconnect with the world.
What happens if grief is left untreated?
Because grief does not in itself necessitate therapy, untreated grief will often resolve on its own. However, for some people—particularly those who would qualify for a diagnosis of prolonged grief disorder—untreated grief can be a source of seemingly endless pain or lead them to withdraw from the world. In such cases, treatment can be indispensable, as it can help an individual adapt to the loss and start living again.
