At some point in our lives we all need additional support to deal with personal issues and problems that affect our thoughts, feelings and behaviors. Starting counselling can be difficult, however it is the first step to the support and guidance you need. As a client centered therapist I work on the concept that every client is an individual. I will work with you to improve the way you are thinking and feeling.

Supporting people through loss and bereavement is at the heart of my work.
I also work with clients experiencing anxiety, low mood, emotional overwhelm, and life transitions, particularly when these are connected to loss, change, or feeling stuck. Many people come to therapy for one reason, only to discover there’s more beneath the surface and we work with that together, at your pace.

I work with a compassion-focused therapy (CFT) approach which helps promote mental and emotional healing through encouraging those who have suffered loss to develop empathy and compassion towards oneself.
Embrace new beliefs. Most fearing, angering and blaming comes from old beliefs, expectations and stereotypes. These are programs installed from society, your up bringing and your peer groups. Loving yourself deeply and exquisitely means you explore these very important processes and let go of the expectations and stereotypes that don't support you; that were dragging you down. Let's explore this in more detail now.

Are you navigating a period where life no longer feels familiar, after loss, separation, relocation, illness, or a major life transition?
My approach is calm, relational, and reflective. I don’t rush the process or offer quick solutions. Instead, I provide a steady space where you can slow down, make sense of change, and reconnect with your own clarity and self-trust. Clients often describe our work as grounding, containing, and quietly transformative.

You’ve spent years putting others first, being the peacemaker and people-pleaser, but inside you’re emotionally exhausted and left wondering why you feel so alone. Maybe you’re feeling invisible or like you're constantly walking on eggshells; it doesn’t have to stay this way. I work with those who feel like they put in so much more than anyone else, whether at home, with friends or at work; the dependable ones who’ve become so good at tending to others that they’ve lost touch with who they are. My clients often live their life wearing a brave face but underneath they are wondering why their life doesn’t look how they imagined.

How long does therapy take for grief?
There is no exact timeline for grief counseling. Some people may start to feel better after just a few sessions, while others may take months or longer to feel relief. Some specific approaches, including some types of CBT, may involve a set number of sessions, or therapy may be open-ended until the patient determines they are ready to wrap up. Just as there is no right or wrong way to grieve, there is no right or wrong way to seek therapy for grief.

When should you seek therapy for grief?
Many people mistakenly believe that their grief needs to be debilitating or all-encompassing to warrant therapy. This is not the case. While people who experience severe, prolonged grief—particularly those who are considering self-harm or engaging in unhealthy substance use—are especially likely to benefit from therapy, so too are people whose grief is less intense but still interfering with well-being or daily functioning. In practice, almost anyone struggling to process a loss could benefit from grief counseling.

Can grief be managed without therapy?
Oftentimes, yes. Grief is a near-universal part of being human, and many find that their grief, while profound, does not stop them from participating in day-to-day life and steadily eases over time without outside help. For others, however, the harsh pain of early grief persists for months or years or leaves them unable to function. This group is especially likely to benefit from seeing a therapist, who can guide them through their grief and help them reconnect with the world.

What happens if grief is left untreated?
Because grief does not in itself necessitate therapy, untreated grief will often resolve on its own. However, for some people—particularly those who would qualify for a diagnosis of prolonged grief disorder—untreated grief can be a source of seemingly endless pain or lead them to withdraw from the world. In such cases, treatment can be indispensable, as it can help an individual adapt to the loss and start living again.
