I believe we are all products of our upbringing and experiences. Sometimes, this can lead to struggling with anxiety, low self esteem, confusion and not feeling good in relationships. I can work with you to unravel what this is all about and help you find new ways of coping and moving forwards. We can talk or use creative methods to facilitate this discovery process. I work with young people, adults and couples for short or long term one to one sessions which are all driven by you and on your terms. I offer a free, initial meeting so you can decide if I am the right Counsellor for you. I also offer clinical supervision.

If you are struggling with parenting, postnatal depression, miscarriage or your identity during a life transition, you are not alone.
I can work with you short term or for an extended period, depending on your needs. Deeply rooted emotional issues tend to require longer periods of therapy. Psychodynamic therapy reflects on the past, as well as the present and helps you to see the parts of yourself that are hidden from yourself, so that you can gain better understanding and insight.

Alongside private practise, I have extensive experience working for The Parenting Project, seeing a range of clients struggling with nuerodiversity, identity issues, post and prenatal depression and anxiety, general anxiety, OCD, PTSD, child abuse and trauma, sexual abuse and depression.
Do you find yourself repeating the same patterns and behaviours? Perhaps for years, even decades? Is the simple act of getting through the day (and night) becoming unmanageable and overwhelming? Or perhaps you feel numb, stuck, confused even? Perhaps you do not even know where to begin or what you are looking for? Are you finally ready to let go of what no longer serves you and embrace challenge, change, and desire - rejuvenating your relationships not only with others, but with yourself?

Our initial 60 minute session is FREE! If life had a complaints department, most of us would have called by now. Having the right support can help you find a way through hard times. I’m a grounded, straightforward counsellor and clinical supervisor. No psychobabble, just real connection, gentle challenge, and practical perspective. As a HCPC registered art therapist and EMDR practitioner who’s worked in perinatal mental health since qualifying, I’ve continue to specialise in this area; supporting in depression, anxiety, parental identity, birth trauma, baby loss, and bonding & attachment.
The journey from conception through to raising an infant/s, is a profound one. For many, it raises complicated feelings about their own experience of being parented, their identity, relationships, and bond with baby. Though this is a normal process at a transitional period in an individual's life, it can be unsettling and confusing. All would hope to find meaning and joy within this experience, but it can become eclipsed by loss or intense emotional distress when things do not go as hoped. In these moments, therapy can help individuals to make sense of this, build confidence and parent within authentic their values.

Pregnancy, Prenatal, Postpartum Counsellors

What are the most effective ways to address pregnancy, prenatal, and postpartum concerns?

The most effective way to address pregnancy, prenatal, and postpartum concerns is by finding a therapist who has prior experience helping other patients overcome the challenge being faced. For example, a marriage and family therapist may have experience helping couples adjust to their new relationship dynamic. An anxiety specialist may have experience helping with phobias or illness anxiety related to the child’s health. A depression specialist may have experience treating postpartum depression.

When should I seek treatment for prenatal or postpartum concerns?

Pregnancy and the postpartum period involve intense physical and mental changes; a degree of upset and instability is normal. However, if these changes impair daily functioning, it may be time to seek help. This distinction is pertinent for postpartum depression: A period of teariness, irritability, and distress is difficult but normal in the one to two weeks after childbirth (sometimes called the “baby blues.”) But if feelings of sadness and hopelessness persist beyond that period, the person should seek treatment.

How do I manage worries during pregnancy or the postnatal period?

A therapist can help patients develop the tools they need to manage anxieties during or after pregnancy. Cognitive behavioural therapy can help people identify and reframe harmful patterns of thought, and change their behaviours. Other techniques and skills can allow people to develop acceptance, psychological flexibility, self-compassion, communication skills, and more.
