Life can be incredibly painful and confusing. There can be times we don’t know what to do or where to turn. Counselling and psychotherapy can offer a safe space to try and work things out and find a better, more fulfilling way of life. It can sometimes helpful to look at the past, to help us better understand And heal the present. I have over 20 years experience. I also work for BACP - British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy in the Professional Standards team.

We are all products of our upbringing and experiences and sometimes this can lead to problems in the present. Anxiety, low self esteem and not feeling good in relationships for example. I can work with you to unravel what this is about and help you find new ways of coping and moving forwards. We can talk or use creative methods to facilitate this discovery process. I work with young people, adults and couples and the work is all driven by you and on your terms. I offer a free, initial meeting so you can decide if I am the right Counsellor for you. I also offer Clinical Supervision for other Professional Counsellors and Trainees.

I am a neuroscientist and perinatal mental health therapist who helps mothers understand what is happening in their brains and lives during the transition to parenthood.
Becoming a parent changes everything, but not always in the ways people expect, and rarely in ways that are clearly explained. Many of my clients, who are used to functioning at a high level, are surprised by how disorienting and difficult this stage of life can feel. It has impacted your sleep, identity, stress levels, mental load, relationships, and added invisible demands and pressure. Much of my work begins right there, in that gap between what you thought this experience would feel like and what is actually happening in your mind, your body, your relationships, and your sense of self.

I am an ex-Hospice and Pregnancy loss Nurse, experienced in holding space for profound life transitions.
Grief doesn't always look like sadness. It can show up as anxiety, anger, shame, or a sense that you've lost your way. Whether you're grieving the death of someone you love, the end of a relationship, changes in your health, your identity, or the future you imagined, grief can leave you feeling disconnected from yourself. Perhaps you've spent years trying to be who others expected you to be, carrying the weight of expectations and comparison, only to realise it no longer fits. I offer a warm, compassionate space to make sense of loss, explore what matters now, rediscover who you are, and find a way forward.

Alongside private practise, I have extensive experience working for The Parenting Project, seeing a range of clients struggling with nuerodiversity, identity issues, post and prenatal depression and anxiety, general anxiety, OCD, PTSD, child abuse and trauma, sexual abuse and depression.
Do you find yourself repeating the same patterns and behaviours? Perhaps for years, even decades? Is the simple act of getting through the day (and night) becoming unmanageable and overwhelming? Or perhaps you feel numb, stuck, confused even? Perhaps you do not even know where to begin or what you are looking for? Are you finally ready to let go of what no longer serves you and embrace challenge, change, and desire - rejuvenating your relationships not only with others, but with yourself?

I have a specialist interest in bereavement and trauma, as well as pregnancy, postnatal depression, and anxiety.
My aim is to offer a warm, compassionate, safe, and non-judgmental space where you can explore whatever’s going on for you, at your own pace. I see counselling as a shared journey — a space where you can be heard, understood, and supported through life's challenges, make sense of your experiences and move towards acceptance and positive change.

I am a counsellor and psychotherapist who works with you as an individual, to meet your specific needs. I keep my client numbers low in order to really get to know you and work to meet your needs. I use counselling skills, CBT, and solution focused therapy to help you to raise your awareness and achieve the goals and outcomes you want and need. Together we can make a plan and set goals to get you to where you want to be, with new insights and understanding. We can work at your pace, in bite sized chunks. I use worksheets and articles for you to explore relevant topics between sessions, to keep that motivation flowing.

When we have a problem, we often want to talk to someone who won’t judge us. It can be tough to open up to friends or family because we might worry about what they’ll think or fear upsetting them. This can make it hard to be completely honest and fully understand what’s going on. Seeing a psychotherapist gives you a chance to build a safe, trusting relationship with someone who can offer an unbiased perspective. The bond between the therapist and client can be really important in helping us tap into our own strengths to find solutions or make changes.

Issues in relationships, social anxiety, loneliness, and depression can lead us to feel overwhelmed and isolated. Often challenges in our lives can have a detrimental effect on self-esteem. I can support you as you explore areas of your life that you would like to change, through personal growth and changing patterns of behaviour. I will support you whilst you find your inner resilience to make choices that feel authentic to you. I can also help if you have suffered a loss or are experiencing a transition in your life. I have personal and professional experience of the challenges of parenthood, including Postnatal Depression.

Pregnancy, Prenatal, Postpartum Counsellors
What are the most effective ways to address pregnancy, prenatal, and postpartum concerns?
The most effective way to address pregnancy, prenatal, and postpartum concerns is by finding a therapist who has prior experience helping other patients overcome the challenge being faced. For example, a marriage and family therapist may have experience helping couples adjust to their new relationship dynamic. An anxiety specialist may have experience helping with phobias or illness anxiety related to the child’s health. A depression specialist may have experience treating postpartum depression.

When should I seek treatment for prenatal or postpartum concerns?
Pregnancy and the postpartum period involve intense physical and mental changes; a degree of upset and instability is normal. However, if these changes impair daily functioning, it may be time to seek help. This distinction is pertinent for postpartum depression: A period of teariness, irritability, and distress is difficult but normal in the one to two weeks after childbirth (sometimes called the “baby blues.”) But if feelings of sadness and hopelessness persist beyond that period, the person should seek treatment.

How do I manage worries during pregnancy or the postnatal period?
A therapist can help patients develop the tools they need to manage anxieties during or after pregnancy. Cognitive behavioural therapy can help people identify and reframe harmful patterns of thought, and change their behaviours. Other techniques and skills can allow people to develop acceptance, psychological flexibility, self-compassion, communication skills, and more.
