Before I tell a little about myself, allow me to say, well done for getting this far! I appreciate that many people become a little anxious at the prospect of an intense atmosphere in a counselling room. Thats not how I work though. My first aim is to help you relax. To see that yes, it is a 'safe and confidential environment for you to talk about anything that you want'. But there's no need for it to be a heavy and intense atmosphere either. I believe we can be practical, pragmatic and make some real changes without sacrificing empathy or compassion.

It can show up after a loss or bereavement, or following a traumatic event. Sometimes it appears for no clear reason at all. Anxiety can range from mildly unsettling to completely overwhelming, and it can take the joy out of everyday life.

Life can feel like you're barely keeping your head above water when you’re dealing with big changes, uncertainty, or emotional strain. It’s tempting to do nothing, convincing yourself that staying small is the safest option—but deep down, you know it’s not. It just leaves you stuck and alone. These moments creep up, showing as stress, overwhelm, fear, or anxiety that grows and can get too much. You might even notice it physically—the tension, the sleepless nights, the fatigue—or mentally through low mood, anxiety or both, as if your mind is on a loop, replaying the same worries.

I'm a doctor & therapist with a specialist interest in OCD & health anxiety. These are highly treatable (!) problems once we make sense of them. The first step is to understand your issue, including where it has come from & what’s keeping it going. From there, it’s all about change. Together we’ll change your relationship with uncertainty, recalibrate how your brain perceives risk & build confidence in your capacity to cope. If you’re ready & determined to recover, I’d love to help you.

We don't lose ourselves all at once. We become who we need to be over time- to preserve relationships, belong or simply survive. Years later, we find ourselves anxious, disconnected, struggling with intimacy, repeating the same relationship patterns or no longer recognising ourselves. I believe these are intelligent adaptations, not personal flaws. Therapy isn't about becoming someone new. It's about understanding what you've had to leave behind- and creating relationships where you no longer have to abandon yourself.

I see to your needs & provide resources as you transition, while we face issues together, & grow your capacity to journey beyond me. This may involve an exploration of the past, or practical focus on here & now strategies & approaches, which influence the map of your life journey you are carving.

Hello, I am Nadine. I will briefly introduce myself. I am a mother of four with a personal experience of ADHD, and I know first-hand the transformative power of therapy. Diagnosed four years ago, my journey led me to understand the profound impact of talking therapy on mental health and well-being. This personal insight fuels my passion for helping others navigate their unique paths and their journey toward empowerment and healing. I am a pluralistic practitioner and what this means is that the sessions are built around the person's individual needs. The sessions have no set agenda but we will work in collaboration.

Acceptance and Commitment (ACT) Counsellors
How does acceptance and commitment therapy work?
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy encourages a person to listen to their self-talk. A person’s inner dialog can be indicative of how they treat themselves. ACT also encourages self-compassion; this can lead to a better understanding of negative thought patterns and emotional states. This understanding can then lead the individual to needed behavior change.
What are the goals of acceptance and commitment therapy?
The goal of acceptance and commitment is to expand a person’s psychological flexibility, a trait that encourages an individual to live in the present moment and to accept all their thoughts, feelings, and emotions, even ones that are difficult such as sadness and anxiety. In ACT, this acceptance is congruent with the individual’s values and beliefs.
Does acceptance and commitment therapy work for depression?
Acceptance and commitment therapy is effective for depression because it allows the individual to view their discomfort and suffering differently. Depressive feelings about relationship heartaches, for example, are a part of life. A despondent person learns to let go of their struggles and instead view their painful thoughts and feelings with compassion. This will lead the individual toward positive change.
How long are people typically in acceptance and commitment therapy?
A typical acceptance and commitment therapy session is 50 minutes long with one session per week. Treatment for common problems such as anxiety, depression, or relationship difficulties can last between eight weeks to four months. However, more severe cases may require more than one session a week and/or a longer time frame for treatment.
