People come to counselling for all kinds of reasons from childhood trauma to life events as adults such as divorce, bereavement and stress and what they all have in common is a desire to feel better and begin to enjoy life.
It can be hard to work out how to improve your situation on your own as, negative thinking patterns and behaviour patterns, can keep us locked in the same cycles of feeling overwhelmed and struggling to be optimistic about life. CBT helps clients identify these negative patterns and provides effective ways to make positive changes and reach your goals

This holistic approach empowers you to create positive change and greater well-being in your life.
Hello, I’m Lorna — a UKCP-accredited Psychotherapist. I offer a warm, safe, and supportive therapeutic space where you can explore both present and past challenges affecting your emotional and physical well-being. My approach integrates the body into psychotherapy, drawing on principles of somatic therapy. I work from the understanding that the mind and body are interconnected and trauma and past experiences are often stored within the body. I’ve been working with clients for over 14 years and have specialist experience supporting neurodivergent individuals, particularly those with ADHD, Dyslexia and Autism.

Many of my clients decide to work with me because something significant is changing in their life.
Maybe you can’t quite put your finger on it. It might be that you feel like you’re just going through the motions. Perhaps there’s nothing wrong as such, but you’d like to explore the questions and possibilities that are in your mind. Together, we find ways for you to lead a more satisfying life – being true to yourself … the fullest version of yourself.

Navigating life's challenges can be difficult on your own.
As well as my accredited Level 6 Diploma, my additional training includes: Gender Sexuality and Relationship Diversity (GSRD) Therapy, C-PTSD and Autism, and ADHD. I have a particular interest in working with adult clients who are considering, awaiting a diagnosis, or recently diagnosed with ADHD as I am aware this process can be complex and emotional.

Through a blend of coaching and counselling, I help people untangle their thoughts, reconnect with themselves, and move forward with greater clarity and confidence.
I help people who feel stuck, overwhelmed, or unsure how to move forward. They may be juggling work, family, relationships, or expectations that leave little space for themselves. Deep down, they know something needs to change. They want to feel more in control, more confident, and more connected to who they really are. They may be used to coping alone, feeling like they “should” have it together by now. What they really need is a safe space to pause, reflect, and find a way through with support, not pressure. They may feel lost in people-pleasing, burnout, or self-doubt. Underneath all that noise is someone longing to be heard.

When life brings us challenges and suffering, it can feel impossible to return to a sense of normality.
Know all the theories, master all the techniques, but as you touch a human soul be just another human soul. - C.J. Jung.

I do not perceive myself as the expert of your life, you are.
I work with a belief that your experience of emotions does not mean that something is ‘wrong’ with you. Rather I accept that some aspects of your life may feel wrong and psychotherapy feels required to facilitate the changes needed, as exploring this alone may feel overwhelming and disorientating.

Resulting from over twenty-years of experience working as a psychological therapist, I can help with a broad range of therapeutic material; bereavement end of life, trauma (including severe Post Traumatic Stress Disorder ), physical, psychological, emotional and mental, and spiritual forms of abuse, substance-misuse, anxiety, depression, and many others
I offer a soulful approach to therapy grounded in the latest psychological theory. Often, it may seem that much of modern psychological therapy merely ruffles and reorganises the surface of the things that trouble us, seeing people who are experiencing psychological suffering as complex machines to which we can apply a set psychological theories. In contrast, after 20years of working as a psychological therapist, I believe it's more appropriate to approach clients as 'souls' in need of hearing, healing, connection, meaning, and renewal.

Life Coaching Counsellors

What can I expect from life coaching?

Clients and coaches will typically start by identifying the problem area(s) that the client hopes to address—then, the coach will help the client brainstorm potential solutions and explore concrete techniques to help the client attain their goals. Coaching is typically short-term and focused on finding solutions in the here and now, rather than exploring a client’s past. In addition to strategies aimed at the client’s specific concerns, coaches may encourage general stress management techniques such as meditation.

Can a life coach help treat anxiety?

Because the majority of life coaches are not licensed clinicians, they are not qualified to diagnose or treat anxiety. Anyone struggling with anxiety or another mental health condition should seek help from a licensed mental health practitioner. However, some coaching clients who struggle with subclinical anxiety report that working with their coach on other problems—such as career dissatisfaction or unhealthy habits—has a positive effect on their anxiety.

Can life coaching be done online?

Yes. While life coaching often happens in person, many coaches conduct sessions over the phone or via online platforms such as Zoom or Skype. Because life coaches are not subject to local licensing regulations in the same way that therapists are, they are able to see clients who live in other locations.

How long does life coaching last?

Life coaching tends to be a shorter-term process than therapy, though it does not always unfold over a specific period of time and is instead based on the coach’s or the client’s preferences. Coaching often takes place over three to 12 months but may be shorter or longer if necessary.
