Perhaps a sudden trauma, relationship betrayal or bereavement has derailed you and made you question your whole life.
My training is Relational, an integrative blend of humanistic-existential & psychodynamic approaches. In Relational therapy we make use of the therapeutic relationship, noticing what happens between us so that you can better understand your way of relating, finding new ways to connect. It can help in healing your relational wounds.

My approach is human centred, compassion focused, and trauma informed. I believe that every person is shaped by their life experiences and has their own unique strengths and challenges. As such, I do not use symptom lists, diagnostic labels, or manualised treatments. If you are looking for a therapist who works in this way, I may not be the best practitioner to support your needs. We will begin by exploring together what brings you to therapy and creating a shared understanding of your unique life story. From here, we can begin to make connections between your history and your present difficulties, whatever they may be.

Struggling to cope with negative emotions can feel very isolating and, by the nature of some problems, guilt and shame can make us feel stigmatised and prevent us reaching out for support even when its not our fault. People come to counselling for all kinds of reasons from childhood trauma to life events as adults such as divorce, bereavement and stress and what they all have in common is a desire to feel better and begin to enjoy life. Some people find they use alcohol or drugs in an attempt to cope with their feelings but inventively this creates more problems

I work with issues such as ineffective communication, escalating arguments, infidelity, loss of intimacy, the impact of a loss of a child has on a relationship, coping with a separation or divorce and co dependency.
I work with a range of clients, but predominantly I work with Trauma and couples. Within Trauma I establish safety and stabilisation with the client initially, and assist the client in understanding of the impact of trauma using interventions such as psycho education and IEMT (integrated eye movement therapy) which evokes acceptance and empowerment.

I specialise in working with individuals who have difficulties in managing their emotions and therefore struggle with things like relationships, drinking, substance use, self harming and other impulsive behaviour. You don't need a formal diagnosis to work with me, but I do have a speciality of working with people with personality disorders. I also have lots of experience of working with people who have had traumatic histories and are struggling to manage as a result. This might mean they are depressed, anxious or just finding trusting people hard. As well as these specialities, I also work with all major mental health issues

I work with strong, down-to-earth women who are trying to rebuild confidence after being cancelled, bullied, or harassed - often in their workplaces, relationships, or communities. Perhaps you’ve been pushed out of a job, made to feel like the problem for speaking up, or found yourself questioning everything - just to keep the peace. I’ve been through that too, and I know how disorienting it can feel. In our sessions, you’ll get practical, honest support - with no jargon, no judgement. Together, we’ll work through the behaviour patterns and emotional fallout that are keeping you stuck, so you can start making clearer decisions

Infidelity Counsellors

How does therapy for infidelity work?

A skilled infidelity therapist will provide a safe space for clients to communicate their feelings and concerns. The goal is to be completely honest about what led to the cheating and how it has affected the entire family to prevent it from recurring in the future. The therapist will help the clients work on rebuilding mutual trust and respect and developing better communication and conflict-resolution skills. If the goal is to remain a couple, clients will learn the “danger signs” for their specific relationship, and they will make a renewed commitment to be faithful.

How long does therapy for infidelity take?

Recovery from infidelity can take time, and it can vary from person to person. Generally, a therapist will want to see the clients at least once a week for around six months. Then the sessions can be arranged as needed, depending on the clients’ individual needs. While therapy may end or shift to an as-needed basis, it can take up to two years or more for some clients to fully recover from infidelity.

How does therapy help the partner who was cheated on?

When a client discovers their partner’s infidelity, their trust in the relationship and in the life they had together may be shattered. They often experience mental health symptoms, such as anxiety, depression, grief, and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). They don’t always want to stay in the relationship; they may feel ambivalent or may even want to leave. Therapy gives these clients a safe and healthy way to communicate all of their complicated emotions and concerns.

How does therapy help the partner who committed infidelity?

Infidelity often occurs when one or both partners’ emotional needs are not being met in the relationship. Therapy can help this client understand why they cheated and figure out how to address those unmet needs without resorting to infidelity in the future. This can lessen (but not entirely eliminate) the risk of repeated infidelity. Clients who cheat may also feel intense guilt about deceiving their partners, a sentiment that they can work through in therapy.
