When life moves at 100 miles an hour, it’s easy for anxiety and low self-confidence to take hold, especially under the pressure to be everything to everyone. That’s why it’s so important to pause, take stock, and give yourself the time and space to talk things through. Maybe you’re feeling stuck, weighed down by anxiety, grief, or self-doubt. Perhaps life feels louder than you can handle, or quieter than you’d like. You might be facing a big change, struggling in your relationships, or carrying the weight of past experiences that continue to show up in your present.

You may be feeling overwhelmed, exhausted, stuck, or as though you have spent much of your life trying to cope alone. Perhaps anxiety, burnout, addiction, trauma, or difficult life experiences are affecting your relationships, confidence, or ability to feel comfortable in yourself. You might also feel that you experience the world differently from others or have never quite felt that you fit in. Reaching out for therapy can feel daunting, but it can also be the beginning of understanding yourself in a deeper and more compassionate way.

Play therapy can enable children to heal from early trauma and provide them with an opportunity to build the resilience needed to function in school, their family and their community. It involves the use of the play therapy toolkit which includes; puppets, sand play, art materials, role play, stories and music.

As a humanistic-integrative counsellor and supervisor+, I take the view that there is no single approach that can treat every client, in all situations. I therefore offer an approach to counselling that combines different elements of several specific therapies so as to enable me to provide the appropriate interventions for each individual. I believe each person is an 'unique whole' and counselling techniques are best tailored to fit the unique individuals needs and personal circumstances. It is of primary importance to me that I offer you highly confidential service based on you as an individual in your distinctive circumstances.

You may be feeling like you’re moving in circles without a clear way forward. This could be due to life changes ,grief, past trauma or a sense of feeling stuck and overwhelmed. Many of my clients describe feeling overwhelmed, isolated, or unsure of how to begin making changes. If this sounds familiar, counselling can give you a safe and understanding space to talk openly, at your own pace. My role is to be alongside you-helping you feel heard, offering gentle support, different thinking and working with you to find new ways of coping, healing, and moving forward.

Anger Management Counsellors
How long does therapy take for anger management?
Treatment duration depends on the person’s specific challenges and circumstances. There are treatments for anger problems that are shorter and more goal-oriented, like Cognitive behavior therapy (CBT), which can last weeks to months. Others, like Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) may last between six months and a year, while a more intensive treatment, like psychodynamic therapy, is open-ended, and clients may see their therapist for a year or longer.

How do you know if you need therapy for anger management?
Everyone gets mad from time to time. But when angry outbursts become frequent and cause damage to relationships, whether at home or in the office, it may be a good time to look into therapy. A therapist can assess where a client’s anger may be coming from, suggest strategies for averting angry outbursts, and help a client create a plan to become a calmer version of themselves.

Is there medication for anger management?
Medications do exist that help people mitigate the feeling of anger, but these are reserved for people with anger-related psychiatric disorders, such as intermittent explosive disorder, oppositional defiant disorder, or in some cases borderline personality disorder. In these cases, antidepressant medications may be prescribed to help with the client’s symptoms. In most cases of anger management, however, talk therapy is the recommended treatment, along with lifestyle changes where relevant.

What’s the best way to encourage someone to seek help for anger issues?
It’s helpful to express your concern and love for the person while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Offering specific examples of how an individual’s behavior affected either themselves or others should be done with compassion and with empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.
