Discover the Power of Talking-How often do you have the need to TALK to somebody and what stops you is what they might think? We all go through periods during which we feel alone, not understood and that is perfectly fine.Other times, we may need to change things in our lives and we don’t know where to start. Asking for help can be difficult too. These are the times when a Professional can be your sounding board, with a compassionate, non-judgemental and safe attitude can offer you an opportunity to discover new perspectives, new possibilities. Stop suffering in silence... You have more power to change things than you think you have.

Making sense of life and our relationships can be challenging at times.
Exploring these kinds of questions and how they affect you (and maybe your partner too) in a respectful, confidential and compassionate environment with a skilled professional can be both transformative and deeply healing. I am both trained and skilled at helping people explore these questions to find their way to a more peaceful way of living.

I am experienced in working with clients who are struggling with: Depression, stress, anxiety, low self-esteem, relationship issues, childhood issues and stress in the workplace
I believe that the therapist and client come together as a team to work through issues that may stand in the way of you reaching your potential. Through my training, I have mainly used Transactional Analysis, but also have some experience working in a solution-focussed way and like to work integratively as each person is an individual who may like to work in a different way. I work with people on a range of issues, but find that I work with people with anxiety or depression most commonly, and pride myself on working hard to make people feel at ease.

The relationship between client and therapist is fundamental to the process in dealing with the issues that are affecting your life.
Isn’t it strange how we talk the least about the things we think about the most?! Talking about your feelings, your emotions, your behaviours and your thoughts can feel overwhelming and conflicted, not knowing where to begin, this can seem scary and uncomfortable. My role is to support you to acknowledge, explore, accept, and understand them in order to achieve growth & positive change. My philosophy is that you hold your own answers internally but you are unable to access them, working collaboratively we will unlock them using your strengths and gaining empowerment.

FAQ - About Couples Therapy
Does couples counseling work?
Research shows that couples counseling is effective; it can reduce relationship distress and improve emotional awareness, communication, empathy, intimacy, and overall relationship satisfaction. For example, emotionally focused therapy was found to be effective for about 75 percent of couples, and those benefits lasted at least two years.

When should a couple seek counseling?
Couples can benefit from counseling if they consistently struggle in their relationship. They may have lost the ability to communicate effectively, become entrenched in harmful patterns, begun to fight more than usual, broken the other’s trust, suffered from a mental or physical illness, or faced any number of other challenges. Many therapists offer free consultations, so if a couple isn’t sure whether therapy is necessary, asking directly can provide clarity.

How can I get my partner to go to couples therapy?
The decision to seek couples therapy is often driven by one partner, who then convinces the other to participate. When discussing the idea, the initiator should be direct and assertive. They can state the problems they see and explain how the relationship would benefit from therapy. In more serious cases, they can also explain how their relationship may suffer without making any changes or seeking professional help.

How does a couple prepare for couples counseling?
The anticipation of beginning couples counseling can be difficult—sometimes more difficult than the first session itself. Taking a few moments to reflect can allay those concerns: What are the current challenges? When and how did they begin? What do they want the relationship to look like in the future? Reflecting on these questions can help individuals or couples articulate their goals. Of course, the therapist will also ask questions and guide couples through the process.
