At certain points in our biography it becomes increasingly hard to navigate our way through the stresses of everyday life - whether it be relationships, work, bereavement or trauma.
I offer a space that is compassionate, safe and non-judgemental -a space where you will be listened to and supported in finding your own way through the challenges life is bringing. I specialise in grief, loss, anxiety, depression, trauma and relationship issues to both adults and teenagers. I also offer brainspotting for those that wish to try this therapy.

bereavement, anxiety and life-limiting illness or conditions and I really enjoy working with couples and with groups.
Therapy is personal journey, unique to you and directed by what you want to achieve; I trained in Relational Transactional Analysis and use this modality to support my clients' growth in self awareness and understanding of the unconscious patterns that have been driving their behaviour. Many clients can't fully articulate what they want from therapy, only that they want things to be different, this is normal, and part of the process of therapy is working with you to discover what you want. On the way we aim to discover what blocks you from achieving your goals and support you in finding new paths to reach your goal.

We are a small group of therapists led by Tim Potter. Working from therapy rooms in Tunbridge Wells and Harley Street. For over 26 years we have worked to help people with anxiety, addiction, depression, and other areas of specialism such as post-natal depression, bereavement, and OCD. We receive most of our referrals through word of mouth for adults, children and teenagers. You can expect us to look for a therapist who best suits your needs, and if for some reason we cannot, we can recommend a trusted other that are not a part of the practice.

It is a natural part of life to go through periods where it can feel really difficult to securely exist and to move through life comfortably, both in relation to body and mind. The extent to which this is experienced depends on the individual and their own set of life experiences, including personal and family history, ancestry, and each individual’s unique genetic-biological make-up. Thus, I incorporate all of these elements into my work.

I work with clients who may be struggling with different problems related to their life, relationships or family.
You're not sleeping. You're going through the motions while something inside feels heavy, stuck, or simply not right — and you can't quite explain it to anyone around you. Maybe you've spent years managing on your own, or perhaps something has recently shifted and you're not sure who you are any more. You might be carrying the weight of anxiety that won't quieten down, a past that keeps resurfacing, or the exhaustion of always being strong. Perhaps you've just been told your child has autism or ADHD and you don't know where to turn. Or you're an expat, far from home, working through an identity that feels split between cultures and

FAQ - About Couples Therapy
Does couples counseling work?
Research shows that couples counseling is effective; it can reduce relationship distress and improve emotional awareness, communication, empathy, intimacy, and overall relationship satisfaction. For example, emotionally focused therapy was found to be effective for about 75 percent of couples, and those benefits lasted at least two years.

When should a couple seek counseling?
Couples can benefit from counseling if they consistently struggle in their relationship. They may have lost the ability to communicate effectively, become entrenched in harmful patterns, begun to fight more than usual, broken the other’s trust, suffered from a mental or physical illness, or faced any number of other challenges. Many therapists offer free consultations, so if a couple isn’t sure whether therapy is necessary, asking directly can provide clarity.

How can I get my partner to go to couples therapy?
The decision to seek couples therapy is often driven by one partner, who then convinces the other to participate. When discussing the idea, the initiator should be direct and assertive. They can state the problems they see and explain how the relationship would benefit from therapy. In more serious cases, they can also explain how their relationship may suffer without making any changes or seeking professional help.

How does a couple prepare for couples counseling?
The anticipation of beginning couples counseling can be difficult—sometimes more difficult than the first session itself. Taking a few moments to reflect can allay those concerns: What are the current challenges? When and how did they begin? What do they want the relationship to look like in the future? Reflecting on these questions can help individuals or couples articulate their goals. Of course, the therapist will also ask questions and guide couples through the process.
