As well as trauma you may be suffering problems in your life that are holding you back, leading you to feel stressed, stuck, anxious or depressed or you feel like you are stuck in a cycle with no-one to talk to.
I trained a as counsellor for a number of reasons - I believe everyone should be able to talk about their problems freely without judgement. I have encountered a traumatic event, and I also know first hand the full extent of what addictions can do to the person and the wider family, coupled with life challenges. Not everything can be taught from a book.

My primary aim is to facilitate a safe and empathic space for my clients where the psychological pain can be explored and validated without the fear of judgement or rejection.
I focus on how your psychological pain developed, how is it experienced, how it transpires in everyday living and how it can be transformed, leading to a more satisfying life. There is a solution imminent in every hardship that life throws at us, may it be a simple as compassionate acceptance at times. My role is to guide and to empower you on this journey.

I work with thoughtful, high-achieving women who are used to coping, yet experience anxiety, self-doubt, or burnout beneath the surface.
My approach is relational and depth-focused. Rather than offering quick solutions, we explore the emotional patterns that shape how you relate, cope, and carry responsibility, and whether they still serve you now.

I'm a body relational psychotherapist with 9 years experience. Sigmund Freud described the process of gaining insight as:”If a new result is to have any value, it must unite elements long since known, but till then scattered and seemingly foreign to each other, and suddenly introduce order where the appearance of disorder reigned". I believe therapy is a journey of two people who are willing to get lost in order to find out more about one. It is from this perspective, I think therapy can be used for different quests, whether you often feel misunderstood by your surroundings, or recently underwent a difficult struggle that impacts your daily function, therapy is for anyone and everyone.

When should I seek treatment for anxiety?
Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.

What are the most common types of treatment for anxiety?
Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioural therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioural Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.

How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?
The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.

How effective is treatment for anxiety?
Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
