We all experience difficulties and challenges in our lives. Sometimes, problems can feel overwhelming, even unbearable. At times, we may feel that we ourselves are the problem. I offer a non-judgemental, confidential space where, together, we can explore the challenges you face. Some facts of our lives cannot be changed – having happened already or, for example, illness or impending loss. As your therapist, my aim is to offer you the relationship and support you need to reflect on and be more able to cope with difficult life events.

We all have our reasons for considering counselling. Perhaps you want something to change, or maybe to understand certain things better. Perhaps you are simply curious. Whatever drew you to this site, my belief is that if it brought you here then it's important, and counselling offers a space to explore that, so that you can move forward in whichever way you would like. I have worked with many issues including anxiety, low mood, relationships, academic and job challenges, loss, identity - that who I am and what is life about? I am also experienced in working with being neurodivergent in a neurotypical world and menopause.

For so many of us, life can be challenging. You might feel anxious, depressed, frustrated, stuck, alone, angry, stressed, sad, or many of these at once, and I understand that it can sometimes be difficult opening up to family or friends. Perhaps you have had a recent change in your life that has brought on these feelings; maybe you feel you’d like to know more about yourself, or things might have been getting increasingly difficult for you over time. Whatever's going on for you, my role is to support you in working through your difficulties, helping you to strengthen and grow your coping mechanisms.

I believe that strength comes from within, and that we all have the ability to change given the right conditions and motivation. Reflection and a better understanding of ourselves in relation to others, are essential tools in making changes however small or large. Everyone is unique and I work on the principle that "you are the expert on you " but at times of distress or difficulty, you may lose sight of this. This is where counselling can help you to achieve a more positive outlook and a greater understanding.

I am an experienced psychotherapist with over 20 years of experience working with adults, young people and couples. I have a natural ability to empathise with my clients and am able to offer the support they need whilst working together to find tailor-made solutions. My clients often reflect on how their own journey has progressed through therapy with me, and many of my referrals come through word of mouth and the resulting network I have developed over the years. Before training to be a therapist at the University of Surrey, I worked in management and Human Resources. I currently hold a post teaching Psychology.

Addiction, mental health issues and distress, at some point in life we can all suffer from any of these issues. You are not alone, and you don't have to suffer needlessly. Like many people I've faced my own fair share of these problems and found myself engaging in therapy that changed my life. I believe that everybody can obtain long-term happiness through the self-awareness that therapy offers. We can often tell ourselves that we are different, broken some how, that therapy won't work. However, there is light at the end of every tunnel and together we can take that journey to over-come any issues and create a life of possibilities.

Hi, I’m Kathryn – a qualified Integrative Counsellor and Psychotherapist. We all face times in our life when things feel less than easy. For some, a particular aspect of life may feel overwhelming. For others, their entire situation may feel desperate. Some may simply feel that they want an opportunity to understand themselves better, to be the ‘best’ that they can be. Whatever your current experience, Counselling & Psychotherapy gives you the opportunity to ‘unpack’ what is happening for you with a qualified individual, held safely, and in confidence.

Self-Harming Counsellors
Self-harm (SH) or deliberate self-harm (DSH) is the deliberate infliction of damage to your own body. It includes cutting, burning, scratching, banging or hitting yourself, interfering with wound healing, and the ingestion of toxic substances or objects. While self injury (SI) can look like suicide, it's not; most people who mutilate themselves do it as a way to regulate mood. People who hurt themselves in this way may be motivated by a need to distract themselves from inner turmoil, or to quickly release anxiety that builds due to an inability to express intense emotions.
