Experiences in early childhood affect who we are today - from our body posture and gestures to our relational habits, beliefs we have about ourselves that often implicitly determine how we live in the world. I support and guide you in exploring old patterns, understanding limiting beliefs, connecting to early memories and transforming difficult emotions. Our body tells the story of how we make our way in the world throughout our life. And our strengths and creative resources are also part of that story. Bringing into consciousness the 'then', allows a letting go into the 'now' as you reconnect to more of 'who I already am'.

Life can feel like hard work sometimes; we get lost in the busy-ness of doing life, forgetting how to be; existing instead of living. Life events - past or present - can leave us feeling anxious, distressed, lacking in confidence, low, disconnected, or there's something wrong that you can't put into words. Coming to terms with a loss of someone/something? Have a concern you can't see how to deal with? Struggling with, or questioning, your identity or sexuality & unable to talk to family or friends? Do you have beliefs about yourself that you grew up with, feelings of "I'm not good enough"? If so, then talking about it can help.

Perhaps you are feeling stuck in some aspect of your life or aren’t sure of the way ahead in your life. Transitions and dilemmas can occur at any point during a person’s life. These might include marriage or becoming a couple: changes in a private or professional role: uncertainty in identity: relationship difficulties: loss; pregnancy: child birth; and the challenges presented during the ageing process. Sometimes we need to make sense of what has happened to us and sort out our emotions. I have worked with a range of difficulties which can occur at any point during a person’s life. I am familiar and happy to work with difference.

All of us need to find resilience at times of stress, or just to deal with day to day issues that may cause us anxiety and impact on the quality of our lives. Life events such as bereavement or change affect us in different ways with no simple, right solutions. I offer a way to share and resolve issues within a non-judgemental therapeutic relationship.

Do you have anxiety or depression on you? Is your self esteem low? Sometimes it's hard to know which way to turn, to find a way out or through. I know that we can feel when it's time to talk, a sense of what we need - even if we're not sure what to say or how we'll say it. Sometimes we can feel disconnected from our lives, as if we're not really a part of it. We can have a sense of unease, emotions bubbling away under the surface. Trauma can sit dormant within us for years; unresolved issues or feelings of shame and guilt. Do you want to reconnect with yourself? Like you could begin afresh?

I offer compassionate, trauma-informed support for personal growth and healing. I'll support you to not only recognise the ways in which trauma is impacting the ways you relate to yourself and others, but also to uncover new strengths and opportunities for personal growth beyond the challenges you've have faced. I have often found that understanding people's diagnoses and symptoms as responses to what they have lived through is valuable in helping them shed the self-blame they might carry. Often, people find themselves stuck in cycles of behaviour that no longer serve them, yet feel at a loss for how to make meaningful change.

I am a Clinical Psychologist with over 12 years experience in the NHS, supporting individuals at some of the most difficult times in their lives. I specialise in supporting women, birthing people and couples, for whom difficult or traumatic experiences of pregnancy, birth, fertility, becoming a parent, and baby loss are common. This is an extremely vulnerable period in a woman’s life, with so much uncertainty and change to navigate. For many, having a safe space to be able to explore and make sense of their experiences, and often their own experience of being parented, enables them to make changes and move toward their goals.

I work with adults offering counselling for all manner of issues that may be causing distress, confusion, grief or a feeling of being stuck. The counselling relationship is one where we start to feel safe enough to begin to be able to notice and explore our situation from different perspectives. This can be a relief, and transformative in so many ways.
