I specialise in but am not limited to working with trauma, neurodiversity, depression, anxiety, self-esteem and self-harm.
Are you facing challenges in life that seem overwhelming or difficult to navigate? Do you need an experienced counsellor and psychotherapist that can help? I’m an experienced mental health professional that will hear you and with empathy help you explore and understand the cause of your struggles. In addition to adults I work with children and young people who sometimes get stuck and struggle with their mental health and emotional wellbeing – as a parent it can be really difficult to navigate this. I help with a wide range of issues without the stress of a long waiting list or the need for a referral.

Is anxiety, stress or trauma bringing you down and stopping you living the life you want?
I have a wealth of life experience, which I use in combination with my training. Before becoming a counsellor, I served in the military, which allows me to bring my own extensive experience of coping and resilience, combined with natural warmth and empathy. This is enhanced by the presence of a therapy dog, who can be as involved in sessions as you like.

I specialise in supporting adults with bereavement, grief and loss, trauma, ADHD-related concerns, and replacement child experiences.
Are you looking for a compassionate companion to help you navigate life’s challenges? I specialise in supporting adults experiencing grief, including those affected by replacement child dynamics, where a child is born following the loss of a sibling. Grief can feel deeply isolating, especially when your experience isn’t fully understood, or when you feel expected to cope in a certain way. You may be navigating overwhelming emotions, numbness, or a sense that life has changed in ways that are hard to put into words. You don’t have to face that alone.

Life can be both beautiful and bleak, calm and stormy. Pain and suffering are inevitable parts of the human experience, and when these challenges arise, it’s not always possible to face them alone. As social beings, many of our struggles emerge from our interactions and experiences with others. Yet, with the right support, human connection has the power to bring about healing and growth.

I mainly work with clients struggling with anxiety, depression, PTSD or long-term health issues.
Using body psychotherapy (somatic psychotherapy), I will work with you on all levels of your being (mind, body and spirit) in a transparent, caring and empowering way. My focus is on supporting you to achieve the life changes you need to become truly happy, and on creating maximum value for you going forward (so that you can experience deep and lasting change). In my approach, I work by listening deeply to your life force and holding the space for your process to emerge, your inner child to be heard and all of your feelings and thoughts to be welcomed.

Whether you're struggling with the aftermath of trauma, abuse, or simply feeling lost and not sure what you're struggling with, I want you to know that you don’t have to face this alone.
Together we can break down your challenges into smaller more manageable pieces. My goal is to help you reconnect with the part of yourself that craves peace, happiness, and hope for the future. Using Transactional Analysis, I can guide you through a process of self-discovery. By understanding the ‘why’ behind your thoughts and behaviours we can change them.

Have you been struggling lately? Maybe for a while? You are not alone. So many people have had difficult experiences, life circumstances and ill health that can throw them off balance. This can make the day to day aspects of life challenging. Anxiety, panic, flashbacks, low mood and difficulties sleeping, can all quickly spiral and sometimes, even with the support of others, it's not enough. Perhaps you have always found life difficult, particularly if you have a disability or are neurodiverse. Whatever your challenge, counselling can help.

I have extensive experience working with identity and relationship issues, cultural transitions, and the complexities of intercultural or multicultural partnerships, as well as with trauma, eating disorders, domestic violence, and mood disorders.
I work from a psychodynamic/psychoanalytic perspective, exploring how early experiences and unconscious processes influence current feelings, thoughts, and relationships. This approach helps clients gain a deeper understanding of themselves and their emotional world, uncovering patterns that may be contributing to distress or relational difficulties.

Trauma and PTSD Counsellors
When should I seek treatment for trauma?
Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.

How long does trauma therapy take?
Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.

What happens if trauma is left untreated?
Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.

Can PTSD come back after treatment?
It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
