My ideal client is one of complexity; I plan on to enrol onto a Doctorate becoming a counselling psychologist. I am a qualified counsellor and my knowledge base started 15 years ago when I fell ill. I have had an eventful life, including heart problems, strokes and many other issues. Through therapies, self help and determination I am happy with my life and I would love to share my knowledge. I have specialised in complex bereavement over the past 6 years seeing clients face to face and supporting them through the hard times. There is a need for more LGBT counsellors that understand and help.

Feel stuck? Like you’re going through the motions but something’s off? Maybe you’ve hit a wall in your relationship. Maybe you keep falling into the same cycles—numbing out, losing your temper, pulling away when things get tough. Or maybe you’ve built a life that looks good on paper but still feel like something’s missing. Most people don’t talk about this stuff. Instead, they grind through it alone, pushing down what they really feel, hoping it’ll sort itself out. But here’s the truth: what you ignore doesn’t disappear—it just controls you from the background. I work with people who are ready to break out of patterns that aren’t .

Clients generally come to me when they are struggling with some aspect of their emotions, thoughts or behaviour. My aim is to help my client with accepting or changing some aspect of these three areas. Every client comes with unique issues and from my seat I view the issues as one, "a block in the road to wellness". I am keenly aware that all clients come with individual goals and I am here to help. Many of my clients use the phrase “I just want to feel better". This is my hope for everyone who engages with me in therapy. “TO FEEL BETTER” I offer confidentiality, openness and transparency at all times.

I offer a thoughtful, reflective, and collaborative approach to therapy. My approach is grounded in an understanding that current difficulties are often influenced by past experiences, relationships, and patterns that may sit outside of our awareness. I place great importance on the therapeutic relationship as a vehicle for meaningful change - I believe that such change can happen when you feel genuinely heard and understood. My work is individually tailored, and I draw flexibly on a range of evidence-based approaches to support meaning making and promote change.

Do you often feel out of step with the world, exhausted by trying to fit in, or weighed down by patterns that no longer feel sustainable? Many people I work with are autistic or have ADHD — formally diagnosed or self-recognised — and often only realise this later in life. You may also be navigating habits or patterns that no longer serve you, such as overworking, using substances, or zoning out online — coping strategies that perhaps once helped you survive, but that now start to cost more than they give.

In my work as a Psychodynamic Psychotherapist, I help adults who are experiencing considerable difficulties with their thoughts and feelings about themselves and in their relationships with others - particularly with partners, family and at work. These difficulties are often associated with a variety of psychological problems and negatively affect mental health, sometimes severely. Persistent poor mental health and relationship issues are often rooted in problems with caregiving experienced as an infant, child and teenager.

I believe that our capacity to cope with issues that arise in adult life, whether this is how we experience the world, relate to others, cope with difficult situations or understand and manage what can often be overwhelming emotions, is ultimately bound up with our early experiences. Whether we wish to or not we carry our history with us and sometimes this does not provide the strong foundation needed to engage and embrace life or weather its storms. I work with clients to recognise the origins of their difficulties so that together we might arrive at a place where life is understandable, and they feel both validated and valued.

Psychosis Counsellors
What’s the most effective treatment for psychosis?
The most effective treatment for psychosis is coordinated specialty care. In this model, a team of professionals works with a patient to address all aspects of the underlying disorder. This approach incorporates individual or group therapy, employment and education support, family support and education, medication management (which often involves low doses of antipsychotics), and case management to facilitate problem-solving as needed.

When should people seek treatment for psychosis?
People should seek immediate treatment at the earliest indication of psychosis. Symptoms include delusions, hallucinations, disorganized or blocked speech, and agitated body movements. Early signs that a person may be developing a disorder that will lead to psychosis include suspiciousness of others, memory problems and distractibility, an inability to think clearly, rapid or nonsensical speech, withdrawal from friends or family, aggression toward others, and sensitivity to bright lights or noises.

What if psychosis is left untreated?
Without treatment, psychosis can have significant repercussions, including injuries, job loss, homelessness, financial or legal trouble, ruptured relationships, and suffering for the person and their family. While early treatment for psychosis often yields the best results, there is no point past which it becomes useless to seek treatment. At any point, treatment can make a difference.

How do I get someone else to seek treatment for psychosis?
It’s extremely difficult to watch a loved one suffer from hallucinations, delusions, and other elements of psychosis—sometimes exacerbated by their fears of treatment. Have a conversation with them in a quiet space and maintain a calm, supportive tone. Share your concerns about behaviors you’ve observed, suggest treatment, and explain the potential benefits. Listen carefully to their responses. The person may not be ready after one conversation, but with time, they may come around.
