I offer therapy online or face to face therapy in the centre of Exeter.
Having the time and space within counselling to explore your thoughts and feelings in a safe and confidential environment is often the first step in making positive change in someone’s life. Our problems can sometimes feel too big or heavy to carry ourselves. Often it’s hard to pinpoint what’s actually wrong, but that low mood, and anxiety over powers us. Counselling will help you understand your behaviours and emotions that little bit better and give you insight into why you may be finding things difficult. With this understanding, it is often the catalyst for positive change leading to a more balanced and healthy future.

I offer face-to-face sessions in Exeter and Exmouth, walk and talk counselling outdoors, and online sessions via Zoom.
My name is Naomi, and I offer warm, reflective counselling for adults navigating grief, loss, burnout, life transitions and workplace stress. I came to counselling through my own significant life transitions, and after more than 20 years working in professional environments — including a decade supporting staff through change and welfare concerns. That background shapes everything about how I work. I understand what it feels like to hold it all together on the outside while struggling underneath, and I bring both professional experience and genuine personal empathy to the room.

Feel stuck? Like you’re going through the motions but something’s off? Maybe you’ve hit a wall in your relationship. Maybe you keep falling into the same cycles—numbing out, losing your temper, pulling away when things get tough. Or maybe you’ve built a life that looks good on paper but still feel like something’s missing. Most people don’t talk about this stuff. Instead, they grind through it alone, pushing down what they really feel, hoping it’ll sort itself out. But here’s the truth: what you ignore doesn’t disappear—it just controls you from the background. I work with people who are ready to break out of patterns that aren’t .

I offer sessions in-person, or online (via Zoom), Monday pm, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursdays (8.30am and 6.30pm) and Friday am.
I work with adults who are struggling with stress, anxiety, overwhelm, burnout, low mood, confidence issues, life transitions, and the pressures of modern life. Many of my clients are professionals, business owners, leaders, and neurodivergent adults who feel capable on the outside but exhausted on the inside. They often come to therapy feeling mentally overloaded, stuck, unable to switch off, or finding everyday life difficult to manage. Together, we explore the challenges they are facing, reduce overwhelm, build coping strategies, and help them regain clarity, confidence, and balance.

I offer therapy sessions in-person from my cosy therapy room, online via video or over the phone.
The move towards seeking therapy is a big step, and one that can quite easily become daunting. There are numerous modalities, acronyms and approaches; finding the right one for you can be difficult. I aim to simplify this with my clients, by providing a grounded and present listening ear, backed up my the theory I have studied. As we get to know each other the approach you are looking for will generally become clearer. My training as an Integrative practitioner means I can draw upon various modalities, which I have found to be very helpful for 'meeting' the client exactly where they are at.

I am an integrative counsellor which means that I can use a blend of techniques and approaches tailored to you and your needs. I am drawn to a narrative approach where you tell your story, beginning wherever you feel comfortable. I am able to hold your story as you come back to it from any angle over a course of counselling sessions. From your story we can use gestalt and other creative approaches that focus on how you are being affected in the here and now, using problem solving techniques to enable you to become unstuck from unhelpful and hindering patterns. If you have stress, anxiety or depression on you, I can support you.

FAQ - About In Person Therapy
What are the benefits of in-person therapy?
In-person therapy offers several benefits that some people find highly valuable for their mental health treatment. Being present in the same room as your therapist can create a stronger sense of connection and allow for more nuanced communication through body language. Some people may also find it easier to focus in therapy when they are in a dedicated space and away from potential distractions related to home or work; attending an in-person session provides a clear boundary between therapy time and the rest of your life. For certain therapeutic approaches, such as Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR), exposure therapy, or somatic therapy, being in person may be particularly important, as these therapies benefit from the therapist being able to observe and respond to a client’s physical cues effectively. Additionally, some individuals simply feel more comfortable discussing sensitive or painful topics when they are face-to-face with their therapist rather than on a screen.

When should I choose in-person therapy over online therapy?
In-person therapy may be a better choice when you need a structured therapeutic environment separate from your daily life, when you find it difficult to focus or feel comfortable in an online setting, or when privacy at home is a concern. It may also be more appropriate if you are dealing with severe mental health symptoms that require close monitoring or if your therapy involves approaches that rely heavily on observing physical cues. On the other hand, if convenience, scheduling flexibility, or access to specialists outside your immediate area are priorities, online therapy may be a better fit. Many therapists offer both options, so you can also discuss with a provider which format might work best for your specific situation.

How do I find an in-person therapist?
You can use Psychology Today's therapist directory to find an in-person therapist in your area. You can search by location, insurance accepted, specialty areas, therapeutic approaches, and other criteria to narrow down providers who meet your needs. Each therapist profile includes information about their credentials, areas of expertise, and whether they offer in-person sessions. Once you have identified potential therapists, you can contact them directly through the directory to schedule an initial consultation and determine whether they are a good fit before committing to ongoing treatment. When reaching out, it can be helpful to confirm their availability for in-person appointments, their office location, and whether they accept your insurance.
