We can all feel overwhelmed by life sometimes: it might be the breakdown of a
relationship
, loss of a friendship, daily struggles or those horrible feelings of anxiety that just won’t go away. We might be feeling unhappy but we’re not really sure why, we might feel life isn’t going the way we want it to whilst everyone else seems to be sorted. Talking openly and feeling truly heard can be life changing: we can say all those things that keep going round in our heads, the issues that keep coming back time and again, and work towards understanding what’s going on, make changes and find some peace. Isn't that what we all want?

Our
relationship
as client and therapist can help some difficulties have less power in your here-and-now life.
Hello, I'm Jade. I'm a UKCP (United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapists) Therapist in Training. I offer a warm space where we can explore, together, your reasons for accessing Psychotherapy. I like to think about the benefits of Psychotherapy a little bit like building a house extension, but needing to lay a foundation first. Our original foundation might need some stronger materials or extra scaffolding. Psychotherapy can help to provide that scaffolding, through processing your feelings in a supportive environment. This allows for an exploration of who you are so that you can build your extension, with materials that you choose.

You'd like to understand yourself better so that you can make some positive changes. If this sounds like you, I can help. I'm an experienced Clinical Psychologist. I specialise in helping people to overcome anxiety, trauma and
relationship

Hello there, my name is Emma and I’m an ecotherapist. I support people to deepen their
relationship
with nature for their wellbeing, healing and growth. People seek out ecotherapy for many reasons. You may be feeling burnt-out, stuck, or disconnected. Perhaps you are struggling with emotions or there's a sense that something is missing or that you don't somehow 'fit in'. You may choose to try ecotherapy as you are seeking something different from traditional therapy and have a sense of curiosity to how connecting with nature could be an innately healing process.

Hi, my name is Jane Blackburn. If you're reading this, you’ve probably found that life isn’t always as straight-forward as we’d like and that it can really take a toll on each of us. I have experience supporting people facing all sorts of challenges in their lives including: anxiety, stress, depression, panic attacks, difficulties expressing themselves, low self-esteem, and
relationship
difficulties, to name but a few. I can even support you if you just feel a little bit ‘off’, as though things are ‘not quite right’. The first step towards making a positive change is to ask for help, even if that feels daunting to do.

Couples Counselling
Does couples counseling work?
Research shows that couples counseling is effective; it can reduce relationship distress and improve emotional awareness, communication, empathy, intimacy, and overall relationship satisfaction. For example, emotionally focused therapy was found to be effective for about 75 percent of couples, and those benefits lasted at least two years.
When should a couple seek counseling?
Couples can benefit from counseling if they consistently struggle in their relationship. They may have lost the ability to communicate effectively, become entrenched in harmful patterns, begun to fight more than usual, broken the other’s trust, suffered from a mental or physical illness, or faced any number of other challenges. Many therapists offer free consultations, so if a couple isn’t sure whether therapy is necessary, asking directly can provide clarity.
How can I get my partner to go to couples therapy?
The decision to seek couples therapy is often driven by one partner, who then convinces the other to participate. When discussing the idea, the initiator should be direct and assertive. They can state the problems they see and explain how the relationship would benefit from therapy. In more serious cases, they can also explain how their relationship may suffer without making any changes or seeking professional help.
How does a couple prepare for couples counseling?
The anticipation of beginning couples counseling can be difficult—sometimes more difficult than the first session itself. Taking a few moments to reflect can allay those concerns: What are the current challenges? When and how did they begin? What do they want the relationship to look like in the future? Reflecting on these questions can help individuals or couples articulate their goals. Of course, the therapist will also ask questions and guide couples through the process.
