Chronic Illness Counselling in Exeter
Reaching out for support can feel daunting. We often avoid our deepest fears and painful experiences, even when they continue to affect our daily lives. If you’re noticing emotional or behavioural patterns that impact your relationships, well-being, or sense of self, therapy offers a space to explore and shift what no longer serves you.
The heart of my practice is a person-centred approach. Every individual is unique and so is every session. Once I have an understanding of your needs, I draw on a range of theories and experience to support you in working towards the changes you want to make and together find the best way forward.

Are you distrustful, fearful and overwhelmed by your own emotions and sensations? Do you wish you could just make them go away? Issues arising from trauma or early attachment wounds may manifest in a number of ways including painful thoughts and memories, anxiety, depression, rage, physical pain and sensations (including unexplained physical symptoms, CFS, fibromyalgia and low energy). By viewing our thoughts, sensations, feelings and behaviours not as symptoms, but as parts of us that had to adapt to cope with life, we can get to know and heal these parts in a compassionate and non-pathologising way.

You've always been the strong one, the 'coper', but now you're feeling overwhelmed. You feel constantly on high alert, anxious & struggle to relax, battling your body & your Self. Maybe you're struggling with physical pain, ill-health, long-term conditions or medical challenges. Or maybe you're trying to pick yourself up after a difficult experience in life has knocked you down. You're feeling burnt out, exhausted & distressed with how things have changed. You push on, but whatever you do, it never feels enough. Deep inside a voice is whispering that something needs to change. You don't have to be alone-

With 18 years' experience as an integrative psychotherapist, supervisor, clinical lead, and now EMDR Europe Accredited Consultant, I specialise in trauma, unresolved grief, overwhelm, and the psychological impact of loss. While my clinical background informs all I do, across primary care settings and private practice, my current focus also lies in supporting fellow professionals through supervision and EMDR consultancy. I work with those from humanistic, integrative, or trauma-informed orientations, and aim to offer a steady, reflective space where you feel safe to think, feel, and develop your work with integrity and curiosity.
