Child Counselling in Exeter

In addition to adults I work with children and young people who sometimes get stuck and struggle with their mental health and emotional wellbeing – as a parent it can be really difficult to navigate this.
I offer therapy in a confidential space for you to explore your thought, feelings and mental health difficulties without judgement. Counselling is not a ‘one size fits all’ approach and I use a variety of therapeutic techniques to help you as an individual. There is no such thing as a ‘typical counsellor’ I am down to earth, and will not use fancy jargon!

I specialise in PTSD in children and young people using Trauma-Focussed CBT to help treat symptoms of trauma.
I work with adults and young people and offer both short and long term therapy. Sometimes life’s challenges may feel overwhelming, emotionally exhausting or relentless and we may seek professional support to help us find our way through. Anxiety, depression, feeling lost, lonely, confused or traumatised are some of the many issues people bring. Whilst our personal stories and the reasons for our distress are ultimately as unique as we are, I have found that clients of all ages share a common goal; the desire to gain new perspectives and deeper understandings of themselves and to explore the possibilities and means of change.

I'm a psychoanalytic psychotherapist trained to MA and Doctoral level respectively with adults and children and adolescents.
I offer fifty minute sessions, at least once weekly. Sessions are patient, exploratory and we build an understanding of what's occurring over time. Children can use play materials provided by me as a means of understanding the internal world of the child. Young adults may draw or talk and adults usually talk about what they are experiencing.

I offer online and face to face therapy, specialising in working with those affected by pregnancy, baby and child loss.
Hi I’m Diana. Thank you for taking the time to look at my profile. Are you struggling and feel as if no one ‘gets’ it? Perhaps you are feeling overwhelmed or just lost. Sometimes, life throws challenges at us when we least expect them and are least prepared for the impact they may have on our lives. I can help you to make sense of these experiences and emotions. By offering you space to explore your thoughts we can work together to help you move forward. We can find ways to overcome negative thoughts and to stop you feeling stuck.

I am trained to work with both adults and children; I see people of all ages in my online practice.

Or you may be someone looking to support their child who is struggling. I figure out with them what is going on and we work through it in a way where they feel safe and engaged.

I have additional training in sandplay therapy and many clients, both adults and children, have found this very insightful
Hello, I'm Basia Louise. I'm an experienced Counsellor/Psychotherapist and Humanist/Clinical Supervisor and a member of BACP with a private practice in Newton Abbot. I believe one of the most important aspect in counselling, is first, in choosing the person you'll do your best work with and then in the building of that theraputic relationship of trust. I offer an open, caring, safe and non judgemental space where I help people get to the root of what is causing their problems and support them in discovering ways to change their lives for the better.

Child Counsellors
Child psychologists in Exeter, ENG provide mental health therapy to children and are experts in child development.

Every comprehensive review of therapy with children shows that all credible approaches, when performed by a competent mental health clinician, produce almost the same results. About half of all kids will get better. Of those that improve, 80% will show progress in a relatively short time, while the remaining 20% will need longer-term support.

The best child therapists in Exeter build great relationships with the child and the parent. They also see the child's strengths and are open to hearing the child's possible solutions to the challenges the child faces. Finally, a good therapist appreciates the child's culture and is sensitive to the values of the child's community.
