Within the provision of a non judgemental, unconditionally accepting and culturally attuned environment, I hope clients experience the therapeutic space a safe one. I believe the client is the expert in their own life (even if they don't feel like they are). Part of my work is to help you make the best of your own experience and understanding, leading to change and growth and into new ways of being, thinking and feeling. My work as a pluralistic therapist is underpinned by modern developmental thinking from Neurobiology, Attachment and Trauma theory.

Are you feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or uncertain about your next steps? Maybe you’re navigating a big change, questioning aspects of yourself or your relationships, or simply feeling like life isn’t quite how you’d like it to be. You might be struggling with stress or burnout, stuck in patterns of perfectionism or self-criticism, or finding it hard to set boundaries and put your own needs first. Perhaps you’re exploring your identity, sexuality, or rethinking your faith or spirituality. Maybe you are adjusting to becoming a parent, trying to conceive, or navigating changing relationships with your own ageing parents.

The terminology of therapy is often confusing, but the way I work means that: although whatever has brought you to therapy is manifesting itself in your day to day life, behaviours, thoughts and feelings, I believe that it's roots could be in your past, possibly as far back as early childhood. Perhaps you are feeling anxious, or are experiencing low mood. Maybe you have experienced a trauma, or are dealing with a lot of stress. You might have suffered a loss, or simply feel that something isn't quite right, and that you need some help and support.

I am a Consultant Clinical Psychologist and am passionate about working with children & young people who are experiencing mental health or emotional difficulties. Perhaps you are concerned about changes in a young person’s behaviour or mood, such as increased worry, sadness, stress or anger? They may be facing challenges at home or school, with a medical condition, or have had a scary experience. I provide a warm and friendly space for young people (and their parents/carers) to share their experiences so that together we can make sense of the difficulties and develop ways to overcome them and improve psychological well-being.

When life is stressful and we find ourselves in pain, therapy can be a safe way to explore what is happening. I understand therapy as a mutual endeavour, working collaboratively together to help you understand and see yourself more clearly.

If you are looking for couples therapy, or if you are seeking individual counselling with a focus on relationships (whether intimate, work or family) I can potentially help. I trained to MA level at a leading centre for relationship therapy, and I'm one of very few men working in the field. When working with couples, my aim is to enable better conversations, build understanding, so that both partners can be more content. With individuals, it's often about having a conversation with yourself, and to consider how you are in relation to others.

Are you exhausted by the complex pressures of life? Does something not feel quite right in your world, but you aren't sure how to tackle it—or even express it? Maybe you are constantly in "survival mode," navigating a major life event, the end of a relationship, or a significant personal change . Life in this fast-paced, "always on," hyper-connected world can leave us feeling overwhelmed and disconnected from ourselves, our bodies, and our relationships. If you are struggling with anxiety, a general sense of unease, or the weight of a demanding career, I offer a space where you can finally slow down to find you in it all.

There is no right or wrong personal issue to bring to therapy, it is not always clear why we feel the way we do, or why we keep repeating patterns of relating to others that leave us frustrated, or lonely or confused. Each experience of therapy will be unique, it is an opportunity to explore how and why we may feel the way we do in a supportive space. I support adult individuals with a range of concerns and struggles, some of the concerns I have been consulted on include difficulties in connecting and relating to others, experiences of loss, parenting, anxiety, isolation, feeling different, identity and depression.

Whether you are an adolescent, adult, sports person or busy executive there are some common themes that resonate with my clients: Finding it hard to make decisions - fear of getting it wrong and constantly worrying/Being less tolerant, irritable over things that wouldn't normally bother you/Needing to do everything perfectly and setting high unrealistic expectations resulting in procrastination/Never feeling you have done enough/A very critical internal voice - Exhausting! Most of my clients want to quieten that negative voice and find ways to achieve and live life without the gnawing anxiety and self-doubt

Hello and Welcome, Life can indeed be difficult at times. Many are struggling with mental health in ways that are no longer manageable. Our past and present hurts, our unprocessed feelings can rise to the surface. We find ourselves thinking, feeling and acting in ways that do not reflect who we want to be. Some of us have Grief, Trauma or Addiction that we just can’t seem to work through. As a Senior Accredited Psychotherapist with a PHD(Hon), Master Degree and EMDR(Accredited), I've seen thousands come through my door, with various presenting issues and undergo genuine transformation, healing and leave with hope for the future.

When you know you can’t go on as you are, something needs to change. You might be feeling stuck in a relationship or a job which just isn’t working anymore. Maybe you’re faced with a big life transition and feel lost and uncertain about your future. All these issues show up as anxiety, depression, relationship problems and low self esteem. By raising your self-awareness I will help you explore these issues and find the root causes of the symptoms you're experiencing. For me, counselling is a vocation not a job and I am passionate about making a difference in people’s lives. I hope I can make a difference in yours.

I am a qualified play therapist and am deeply passionate about the transformative impact that play therapy can have on children's lives. Children often communicate about things that they are finding difficult through their play, rather than talking about them. In a play therapy session, through the child's play and the way I support them, they can make sense of their experiences, become more self aware, discover different ways to be, and heal. I work with 4-11 year old children who have experienced attachment issues, parental separation, loss and bereavement, trauma, ASD, ADHD, anxiety, emotional and behavioural issues.

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

Counsellors and Psychotherapists listed in the directory are members of the main professional associations, mainly the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and the UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP). Most Psychologists in the directory are accredited members of the British Psychological Society (BPS) and/or are registered in the Health and Care Professions Council (HPCP).

Providers whose professional membership or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Given that professional memberships are not a statutory requirement for psychotherapists and counsellors in the UK, certain qualified professionals or organisations may choose not to maintain such memberships despite possessing the necessary qualifications. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counsellor?

Counsellors, psychotherapists and psychologists can all provide counselling or talking therapy and have credentials and experience that enable them to do so in the UK. Psychologists have earned a degree in psychology and many are members of the British Psychological Society (BPS) and have completed a postgraduate qualification in a specialism. Counsellors and Psychotherapists are not required to have a psychology degree, but to belong to a professional organisation such as the BACP or UKCP, they are required to have completed a training course as well as clinical and supervision hours.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

How much does therapy cost?

The cost of therapy depends on a number of variables, including location and the therapist’s experience and training. On average, a therapy session in the UK could be between £30 - £60 when seeing a counsellor and £60 - £150 and up when seeing a clinical psychologist. If you have private insurance, your plan may cover some if not all of your sessions. You should contact your insurance provider to determine if they provide coverage for therapy sessions and to determine what, if any, requirements they might have in order for your sessions to be covered, such as a referral from your GP or medical specialist.

What are more affordable or low cost therapy solutions?

Many therapists offer sliding scale payments, usually on a limited number of slots, which consists in an agreement between the therapist and a client to pay a reduced rate. Therapists who provide such arrangements often consider the client's income or ability to pay, but the extent of the discount is ultimately at the therapist's discretion. Furthermore, while group therapy may have different goals and benefits compared to individual therapy, it can be a more affordable solution to address certain types of issues.

If you are struggling to access therapy due to budget constraints, you could also consider public funded mental health services. The NHS Talking therapies programme offers free of charge counselling for common mental health problems like anxiety and depression. The service is available to anyone registered with a GP, though you do not necessarily need to be referred by your GP and can refer yourself directly to a Talking therapies service. The service will provide different solutions, including group and individual therapy, for a limited number of sessions which are generally up to six.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your postcode.

Are therapy sessions confidential?

Therapists who are part of a professional organisation such as the BACP, the UKCP, or BPS are bound by an ethical framework that requires them to uphold a confidentiality agreement. Confidentiality is a crucial part of the therapeutic relationship and only under specific circumstances, such as when there has been participation in a criminal act or act of terror, or if there is potential or known harm to the client or others, will a therapist be obligated to break the agreement. These exceptions to the confidentiality agreement are usually discussed during the initial consultation.
