You may want to talk about anxiety, addiction or depression; you may be looking to cope with some life event such as a bereavement, divorce, redundancy or a relationship problem; or you might be feeling stuck in a rut and that you want more out of life. You will be able to explore what might lie behind the feelings you're experiencing, or what might lie behind certain thoughts or behaviours that you're not finding helpful. All these things can be helped and supported by talking confidentially.

Perhaps you feel stuck in life, anxious or depressed. Maybe your past, currant circumstances and struggles, traumatic events and worries about the future holding you back from fulfilling your potential. You might feel lonely and isolated. Therapy offers safe, non-judgmental and unique space where you can explore all the factors which might cause you distress and help you find coping strategies and ways how to overcome your difficulties. I am a Polish speaker so we can have therapy in Polish if you find easier to express yourself in this language.

Many of the people I work with have lived with their difficulties for a long time, often rooted in childhood or earlier relationships, the same patterns repeating despite previous therapy. I have particular expertise in complex, long-standing difficulties, including personality disorders, complex trauma, bipolar disorder, OCD, eating disorders, and chronic anxiety or depression. I also work with people facing milder challenges who feel stuck or not quite themselves. Drawing on years of experience across the NHS and private practice, I help you understand what drives the difficulty and move towards clarity, connection, and relief.

My ideal clients are couples and individuals who want to understand themselves and their relationships more deeply. They may feel caught in repeated arguments, emotional distance, anxiety, self-criticism, or questions around identity, culture, and family history. Some seem to be coping on the outside while feeling far more uncertain, ashamed, or alone inside. I work with people who find it hard to feel fully seen, to say what they really feel, or to stay close to someone without losing themselves.

Therapy is one of the most positive things we can do for ourselves. It may seem like something other people do. But life isn’t easy and when it feels particularly overwhelming, talking to someone who listens without judgement, can really help us to trust ourselves and find perspective, meaning and confidence to enable a way forward. Clients I work with often find themselves in challenging and sometimes distressing situations and need a safe and confidential space to explore - at their own pace - what is going on for them, to rebuild, find healthier ways of coping and to experience hope.

CBT is a gentle, evidence-based approach that helps make sense of how thoughts, emotions, and behaviours are shaped by past experiences and cultural pressures. My approach is warm, collaborative, and trauma-informed.

If you are feeling troubled and are not sure how to move forward it may be a relief to talk things through. I specialise in working with people who have lost someone close, experienced a trauma that haunts them or an unexpected change in life such as a sudden loss, a health, work, or family problem. Difficulties in your relationships or work can cause anxiety, anger and loneliness in daily life and impact your sense of self. Often problems stem from the past, and unhealthy patterns can re-emerge. I can offer a safe space where together we can explore, locate, and work through what is troubling you so as to help you move forward.

Success often comes with hidden costs. Many high-performing people find themselves feeling stuck — outwardly accomplished but inwardly restless, anxious, or disconnected. Perhaps you’ve achieved what you set out to, yet something still feels missing. Maybe stress, perfectionism, or relationship challenges are taking a quiet toll. You might notice difficulty switching off, persistent self-doubt, or a sense that your drive for success is running you instead of fueling you. If this resonates with you, know that you are not alone, and you don’t need to figure it out by yourself.

FAQ - About Therapy for Seniors
Is one ever too old for mental health therapy?
Individuals of all ages can benefit from mental health therapy. Indeed, older adults in particular may benefit from the social and psychological support a therapist can provide; the topics that older adults address in therapy may simply differ from those of younger clients. Seniors should seek out a therapist who has experience working with older individuals and who is well-versed in addressing common concerns among elderly individuals, such as depression, anxiety, loneliness, and physical mobility challenges.

How is counselling for elderly different from counselling for other age groups?
In general, counselling offers an opportunity for clients to process difficult life events and develop coping skills they can use outside of the therapy session. Therapists who specialise in working with elderly clients generally have the same framework but may place a special emphasis on specific topics, such as caregiver relationships and reducing loneliness. They may be specially equipped to deal with certain physical conditions or facilitate discussion surrounding end-of-life topics. Counselling for the elderly may also place a greater emphasis on social work-type topics to ensure that geriatric clients have access to necessary resources, such as food, a safe home environment, and healthcare.

How can therapy improve the quality of life of aging individuals?
Therapy for aging adults can greatly improve quality of life by providing an opportunity for them to process difficult emotions related to end-of-life, navigate relational or caregiver challenges, and develop coping skills for common mental health conditions, like anxiety or depression. Subsequent reductions in negative emotions and mental health disorder symptoms can make day-to-day living much more manageable for aging adults and those that care for them. The ongoing relationship with a trusted therapist can also help seniors combat loneliness and provide a sense of structure for their routine.

What are the qualities to look for in therapists who see seniors?
Seniors counsellors, like mental health counselors in general, should be kind, empathetic, skilled at listening, and knowledgeable about their particular area of expertise. Counsellors specialising in working with the senior population should be very familiar with the aging process in general and the common conditions that the elderly can face, such as dementia, depression, loneliness, and/or physical illness. Many senior counsellors are also well-equipped to help caregivers and families navigate the aging process of their loved ones, and they may draw on Interpersonal Therapy to help facilitate improved interactions between seniors and those that care for them.
