Here are some of the issues I have helped clients explore: depression, anxiety, stress, bereavement, loss, anger, family relationships, relationships with partners, self-harm, lack of self esteem, suicidal thoughts, health-related issues, self-development, creativity, mindfulness, spirituality , search for meaning.
If you decide to work with me it will be rather like setting out on a journey together. On that journey I’ll be your fellow traveller, companion and guide. Whether or not your reason for coming to see me is an external situation that’s impacting your life, a key part of our time together will be to explore your inner world. As we explore that world together you may develop greater insight into patterns of thought and behaviour that served you once but now limit you; you may find alternative ways of approaching difficulties; you may discover a way of being in the world that is more in tune with who you truly are.

We have recently witnessed the funeral of Queen Elizabeth II. For many people this was not only an opportunity to pay their respects to the Queen but also to give time to reflect and honour those loved ones who they have lost. For many people she represented certainty and security. These past two years have been very tough. Life continues to be uncertain and challenging. So much has changed which has had an impact on all of us. Have you lost someone close to you, or perhaps your job or your home? Has a sudden or unwanted change left you not knowing where you are going? Are you just hoping for life to get back to no

A warm welcome to my profile page. I have over twenty years experience working in mental health, and I'm here to offer compassionate, non judgemental support, be that with managing the stresses of everyday life, making personal changes or navigating your way through a crisis. People are individuals, and I'm commited to the idea that the support they receive should reflect this and come from a place of positive personal empowerment. I truly believe that difficult times and challenges offer an opportunity for personal growth and development, but also that you don't just have to 'survive' them ,you can come out thriving.

You are probably struggling with something in your life which you have been unable to resolve yourself. This may be a relationship or sexual problem, anger issues, family problems, anxiety/depression or maybe just a feeling that something is missing in your life. You may have found that you haven't been able to come up with a solution and that talking to family or friends feels like you're burdening them or it is hard to get an objective perspective. Instead of feeling like you're going round in circles and repeating the same mistakes, you'd like to feel more free and empowered.

Sometimes we need to take up the opportunity for some help and support to think through and feel how we are experiencing life now especially when we feel more sensitive, doubt or stuck in life, experiencing internal or external stressors, body issues, repetitive relational problems. I work with the role of creativity in client's lives for psychological health and well being by accessing and optimising creative potential. I am a therapeutic clinician who works with creative sensitive treatment to help the psychological challenges and struggles that come about for creatives in pursuit of the creative life and creative goals.

Life is difficult and often complex, sometimes engaging in a professional therapeutic relationship can help us make sense of things that are causing us distress. I am a person-centred therapist and I care deeply about the work I do. My therapeutic modality has trained me to work holistically with people as a whole rather than work in a problem specific way. I endeavour to co-create relationships which have a healing effect on my clients. Although I have extensive experience with depression, anxiety and addiction, I work with people, not just their problems.

Are you feeling sad, anxious, stressed? Counselling could help you. Starting by making small changes in your daily life can bring welcome relief in managing difficulties. As an Integrative therapist I see each client as unique. One of the approaches clients have found helpful is Mindfulness. Some clients have found that learning how thoughts, feelings and emotions affect our bodies as a way to help themselves. Becoming more aware of how to respond to stress could help you to live more of the life that you want. Studies have shown that Mindfulness can help with a range of conditions including anxiety, low mood, loss or bereavement.

You might be surrounded by people and still feel alone. You might be screaming in a roomful of people and still not be heard. You might spend a big part of your life trying to fit into somebody's frame but still not feel enough or your true self. You might feel that something is not right, even though you can't put the finger on it, but still know it doesn't feel right. The path to finding yourself, thriving, making a change, and building connections with others could be unfamiliar and even scary. I am passionate about working with people that have experienced trauma.

What should I expect from therapy that incorporates a focus on spirituality?

Spirituality can mean different things to different individuals, depending on their experiences, beliefs, and life histories. Some individuals focus on strengthening their belief system, while others experience spirituality in secular ways, such as through meditation, yoga, or by spending time in nature. Clients can expect a therapist to help guide and grow their spirituality through any of these techniques, encouraging the individual to cope with the challenges they face and develop strategies to build resilience and purpose to improve their outlook in life.

What are the most common treatments that include spirituality?

There are several treatments that incorporate spirituality. Mindfulness-based cognitive therapy (MBCT) helps a person examine and reframe their negative thoughts and behaviours. Acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) focuses on emotional acceptance and psychological flexibility. Existential therapy is most often used to address anxiety, depression, grief, loneliness, apathy, despair, questions of identity, and feelings of purposelessness and existential dread. Transpersonal therapy focuses on a client’s spirituality and meaning in life and may incorporate techniques including meditation, visualisation, hypnotherapy, dream analysis, and or breathwork.

Can therapy incorporating spirituality help atheistic or agnostic individuals?

Yes. For non-believers, spirituality can offer benefits including a greater sense of connection to others and to the natural world. An interest in spirituality may also spur individuals to pursue mindfulness practices, or to contemplate their purpose in life and how to achieve it.

How effective is spirituality as a therapeutic remedy?

Research suggests spirituality is generally beneficial for individuals. It is correlated with better health habits, such as less substance use, and an improved capacity to cope with stress and other mental health challenges. Increased spirituality can lead individuals to become more empathic and less materialistic, as well.
