I am specialist trained in many areas including Trauma Work, Rape and Sexual Trauma, Abuse, Neurodiversity and Addictions, Anxiety and Depression.
Hello and Welcome, Life can indeed be difficult at times. Many are struggling with mental health in ways that are no longer manageable. Our past and present hurts, our unprocessed feelings can rise to the surface. We find ourselves thinking, feeling and acting in ways that do not reflect who we want to be. Some of us have Grief, Trauma or Addiction that we just can’t seem to work through. As a Senior Accredited Psychotherapist with a PHD(Hon), Master Degree and EMDR(Accredited), I've seen thousands come through my door, with various presenting issues and undergo genuine transformation, healing and leave with hope for the future.

People come for my support when they’re struggling with anxiety, self-doubt, or the pressures of work, relationships or family concerns. You might be finding it hard to trust your instincts, or feel stuck in patterns of overthinking or self-criticism. Together, we can explore what’s been holding you back, and begin to build a clearer, more confident voice, where your choices feel more your own. Our sessions will be a place where you can speak openly, feel heard, and build your confidence and sense of self. Our relationship is one in which I hope you will feel fully supported and wholly respected.

“Owning our story and loving ourselves through that process is the bravest thing we’ll ever do,” says Brené Brown — a truth I’ve lived through my own journey of grief, trauma, and complex relationships. This experience led me to become a therapist who walks alongside you, offering a safe, compassionate, trauma-informed space where we can explore your story together. My holistic and creative approach supports you to reconnect with your inner strength, find balance, and begin a new chapter grounded in kindness and self-understanding.

You may feel like the world just does not understand you or perhaps you are struggling to come to terms with your sexuality. There are many many different reasons why people choose counselling. We're all unique.

I work with people dealing with anxiety and depression, facing challenges with their relationships, or looking to improve their ability to tackle personal challenges.
I usually work with people in the creative industries, or in high-pressured work environments as I understand the demands of the business environment. After a decade in a Sixth Form College, I also enjoy working with young adults (16-19 years old) as I am familiar with their hopes and struggles, their attitudes, and their unique views on the world.

I was born and raised in multicultural societies all my life. Living in several different countries on 3 different continents (United Arab Emirates, Canada, Pakistan, Wales and England) has given me unique knowledge about culturally adapting therapy. It has also taught me to understand and work with many different kinds of people. I believe in building a strong therapeutic relationship with the client to create a safe and comfortable space to address and potentially alleviate psychological trauma. I have extensive experience adapting contemporary therapy and counselling and tailoring it to unique cultural nuances.

I’m a highly qualified and professionally experienced psychotherapist/counsellor and psychologist. I have abundant experience working with clients from diverse backgrounds and cultures in the NHS and the private settings, for both the short-term and long-term periods. Rather than offering clients so-called expert’s version of advice, I offer therapeutic work tailored to suit the individual needs of clients, whilst acting as a facilitator to the clients’ process to find their own ways to deal with their issues. This will lead the clients to experience self-discovery and self-acceptance while strengthening their self-healing process.

Finding a psychotherapist can be daunting, with a lot of terminology and names that might feel complicated and mystifying. My view is that therapy doesn't need to be so confusing and shrouded in secrecy and strange terms. To put it simply, I offer you the chance to talk about whatever might be troubling you in total confidence at the same time, on the same day, in the same place, every week. That consistency, alongside the relationship we will develop, is all part of the healing process that therapy can provide.

I see adolescents, adults and older adults with anxiety disorders (phobias, social anxiety, health anxiety, OCD, PTSD, panic attacks, GAD), depression (acute, chronic, SAD), personality disorders, bereavement, loss, abuse, neglect, anger and relationship problems.
I know how difficult it is to find a therapist you can trust for help with your emotional and psychological difficulties. Sometimes our suffering is concealed from friends, family or colleagues because we are good at hiding it but deep inside, we are left feeling far from happy, fulfilled or content. At other times our difficulties are more noticeable. I am passionate about helping people live better lives. I help them discover what matters to them, what type of person they want to be and how they would like to behave. Once their values are clarified I help them make sustainable changes towards the things that are important to them.

What is the goal of therapy for depression?

Therapy for depression has several major goals. One is to relieve the mental pain of depression, which distorts feeling and thinking so that sufferers cannot see beyond their current state of mind or envision feeling better. Another is to give people the mental tools to recognise and correct the kinds of distorted thinking that turn a problem into a catastrophe and lead to despair. Therapy also teaches people how to process negative emotions in constructive ways, so they have more control over their own emotional reactivity. And it helps people regain the ability to see themselves positively, the motivation to do things, and the capacity for pleasure.

What happens in therapy for depression?

Perhaps most important, no matter the type of therapy, patients form an alliance with the therapist; that connection is therapeutic in itself, plus it becomes an instrument of change. Patients learn to identify and to challenge their own erroneous beliefs and thoughts that amplify the effects of negative experiences. They learn to identify situations in which they are especially vulnerable. And they learn new patterns of thinking and behaving. They may be given “homework” assignments in which they practice their developing skills. In addition, good therapists regularly monitor patients to assess whether and how much the condition is improving.

What therapy types help with depression?

Several types of short-term therapy have been found effective, each targeting one or more areas of dysfunction. Cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) helps clients challenge their negative thoughts and beliefs, learn new behavioral strategies, and curb reactivity to distressing situations. Behavioural activation (BA) is a form of therapy often used in conjunction with CBT; it focuses on engagement in rewarding activity as a pathway to changing negative feelings and disturbed mood. Another widely used approach is interpersonal therapy (IPT), which targets the social difficulties that both give rise to and get exacerbated by depression. Therapists may combine approaches as needed.

Can therapy for depression be done online?

Studies have found that online therapy can be highly effective for treating depression, although it may be more challenging to build a good therapist-patient alliance on screen than in person—at least at first. However, online therapy can offer considerable advantages. Accessibility and convenience are tops among them. Some people actually find it easier to talk about problems online than in person. While online therapy typically limits visibility of facial expression and body gestures that give important nonverbal cues to a patient’s state of mind, it can give therapists a glimpse into a patient’s world and life, providing information that can be highly useful in guiding therapy.

How effective is therapy for depression?

Many studies show that therapy is highly effective provided that patients complete the prescribed course of therapy, commonly 16 to 20 sessions. Over the long term, it is more effective than medication and the effects are more enduring. As a result, psychotherapy has the power not just to relieve current suffering but to prevent future episodes of the disorder. Therapy reverses the dysfunction in neural circuitry that disposes individuals to a negative view of themselves, the world, and their future and they acquire coping techniques, problem-solving skills, and understanding of their own vulnerabilities that are useful over the course of a lifetime.
