I have worked with a wide range of clients and presenting issues, including anxiety, depression, life changes, career issues, burnout and neurodiversity.
Sometimes people come to counselling because something difficult has happened. Other times, they have a sense that they are stuck in familiar patterns, struggling in relationships, feeling overwhelmed, or finding it hard to understand themselves. Whatever brings you here, I aim to offer a warm, accepting space where we can make sense of your experiences together. I have particular experience working with autistic and neurodivergent clients and strive to provide a space where people feel understood, accepted, and free to be themselves. I aim to create the conditions where people can develop trust in themselves.

The anxiety lingers, your confidence takes a hit, and the same patterns keep showing up in your relationships.
Clients often tell me they value my calm, genuine presence and the way I make therapy feel safe yet down-to-earth. If humour feels right for you, we can use it. If creative methods like art, music, or writing help you express yourself, we can explore them. We might also work with body awareness—helping you notice and release the physical tension.

Life doesn't really go as expected and finding the right support is key to move forward. I use Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) in combination with Systemic therapy allowing a tailored approach based on clients needs. CBT is aimed to support clients identifying the triggers and the dynamics that hide behind their difficulties, learning coping strategies to deal with them. Systemic therapy is often considered an approach to treat families and groups however, it also effectively apply to individuals.

Whilst I draw on a number of evidence based psychological approaches in my therapeutic work, I mainly use EMDR which has a strong evidence based for trauma and anxiety.
I tailor psychological therapy to each client and their needs, rather than having a prescriptive manualised approach. I firmly believe that therapy should not be 'one size fits all'. Deciding to seek therapy is a courageous step forward, and it is very important that you find a therapist you connect with. I invite you to visit my website for further details.

You may be at a crossroads in life, struggling with anxiety/stress or depression.
What might working together look like? We will work together to build trust and in a safe space, whether online or face to face. You will be able to tell your story at your own pace, and I will be alongside you, listening. At times, I might ask questions to clarify what you think or how you feel about things.

When should I seek treatment for anxiety?
Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.

What are the most common types of treatment for anxiety?
Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioural therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioural Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.

How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?
The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.

How effective is treatment for anxiety?
Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
