Reaching out for support can feel like a big step, especially when you’re feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or unsure where to turn. I offer a warm, safe, and confidential space where you can slow things down and talk openly about whatever is on your mind, without fear of judgement. I work with clients experiencing anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, bereavement, relationship difficulties, life transitions, work-related stress, abuse, self-harm, amongst other issues. You may come to therapy feeling lost, exhausted, or disconnected from yourself, or simply sensing that something needs to change. Wherever you are, you are welcome here.

Whatever you’re experiencing, and however you imagine your future goals, I can help you get there. Creating a sense of safety is at the heart of my work — I believe meaningful therapeutic change begins with a space where clients feel genuinely accepted, supported. I work with a very broad range of issues, from anxiety, self-harm and concerns around sexuality, to anger and abuse. I also have specific areas of interest which include trauma (I’m a trauma survivor myself), low mood/depression, suicidal thoughts, anxiety and neurodivergence.

For nearly 20 years I have worked extensively with individuals, families, couples and young people. My approach is integrative which means I draw on a number of therapeutic models to help tackle the complex needs that clients can present with. I am able to work with families, individuals and couples who are feeling ‘stuck’ and cannot see a way forward. I can be flexible in terms of appointments. I have an interest in attachments which can have a huge effect on how individuals manage their everyday lives.

Welcome. I'm Annie and since 2007, I have had the privilege of supporting young people from 11- 18 years of age as a School Counsellor. My experience enables me to fully grasp the challenges young people can face and continues to allow me to witness how young people can grow through counselling. Adolescence is a time of significant change and for some can be very demanding, experiencing stresses around relationships, school, identity, sexuality, gender and transitions. In addition, challenging life events can often leave trauma and prove difficult to cope with and the goal of moving safely into adulthood harder to achieve.

Hi, I'm Ola and a person-centred counsellor. I work with young people from 13+ years old and adults. In my work, I'm passionate about accompanying my clients on their path towards change and acceptance that they seek from counselling. Do you struggle with anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, feeling misunderstood or trying to make sense of traits of neurodiversity? Do you feel lost or confused as a parent? Or perhaps your young person would benefit from support and guidance? I understand how overwhelming these experiences can be as I lived through some of them myself.

You may be feeling overwhelmed, anxious, stuck, or carrying emotions that are hard to name. Perhaps you’re navigating identity, relationship tensions, cultural expectations, or long‑standing patterns that leave you unsure of yourself. Many people seek therapy because they want clarity, steadiness, and a space where they don’t have to explain their background or justify their feelings. You may be longing to feel understood, supported, and more grounded as you make sense of your inner world and move toward a more confident, connected way of being, with room to breathe and grow as you explore who you are becoming.

The areas l have the most experience in working with is trauma with a focus on sexual harm, abuse and assault (including domestic abuse). Additionally, l have qualified and worked with children and young people, who have been victims of crime and so have a keen interest to support adolescents who are struggling with any of life's challenges and difficulties. I am competent in working with people who are neurodiverse and was previously a foster carer, so would be keen to support anyone working within social services. The presenting issues of an individual will be so varied, l work with whatever a client would like to work on.

Are you seeking a space to see life clearly, your experiences, emotions, relationships, or life choices? Do you feel stuck, anxious, angry, numb, or uncertain? Are challenges at work or in your relationships leaving you frustrated or lost? Many people feel change isn’t possible, or have been told it isn’t. I work with those who are ready to reflect, gain clarity, and discover new ways of thinking, feeling, and responding. Reaching out can feel difficult, and choosing where to start can be overwhelming. If trust is hard and opening up feels risky, I provide a safe, professional space where insight leads to real choice and change.

Life can be a rough ride. Keeping the balance and moving forward can be a challenge. It can involve stress, anxiety, depression and much more. But I believe through psychological therapies we can learn and, in some cases even master, the art of managing life successfully. To achieve this, I practise an integrative approach that draws strength from various therapies in the field. I am a qualified Psychotherapist at a Doctoral level and I feel confident to deal with complexity . My natural inclination is to help people in need. My recent training and qualifications do enhance my inclination especially to those psychologically unwell.

How can I find a therapist in Earls Barton?

Search for nearby therapists or counsellors by inputting your city, postcode, or a provider’s name into the search bar. From there, you can filter providers by the issues they treat, cost, insurance, gender, and other factors to find providers who are well-suited to your needs. To navigate between locations within the same country, enter a new city or postcode into the search bar.

Learn more about how to find a therapist

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

Counsellors and Psychotherapists listed in the directory are members of the main professional associations, mainly the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and the UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP). Most Psychologists in the directory are accredited members of the British Psychological Society (BPS) and/or are registered in the Health and Care Professions Council (HPCP).

Providers whose professional membership or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Given that professional memberships are not a statutory requirement for psychotherapists and counsellors in the UK, certain qualified professionals or organisations may choose not to maintain such memberships despite possessing the necessary qualifications. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counsellor?

Counsellors, psychotherapists and psychologists can all provide counselling or talking therapy and have credentials and experience that enable them to do so in the UK. Psychologists have earned a degree in psychology and many are members of the British Psychological Society (BPS) and have completed a postgraduate qualification in a specialism. Counsellors and Psychotherapists are not required to have a psychology degree, but to belong to a professional organisation such as the BACP or UKCP, they are required to have completed a training course as well as clinical and supervision hours.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

How much does therapy cost?

The cost of therapy depends on a number of variables, including location and the therapist’s experience and training. On average, a therapy session in the UK could be between £30 - £60 when seeing a counsellor and £60 - £150 and up when seeing a clinical psychologist. If you have private insurance, your plan may cover some if not all of your sessions. You should contact your insurance provider to determine if they provide coverage for therapy sessions and to determine what, if any, requirements they might have in order for your sessions to be covered, such as a referral from your GP or medical specialist.

What are more affordable or low cost therapy solutions?

Many therapists offer sliding scale payments, usually on a limited number of slots, which consists in an agreement between the therapist and a client to pay a reduced rate. Therapists who provide such arrangements often consider the client's income or ability to pay, but the extent of the discount is ultimately at the therapist's discretion. Furthermore, while group therapy may have different goals and benefits compared to individual therapy, it can be a more affordable solution to address certain types of issues.

If you are struggling to access therapy due to budget constraints, you could also consider public funded mental health services. The NHS Talking therapies programme offers free of charge counselling for common mental health problems like anxiety and depression. The service is available to anyone registered with a GP, though you do not necessarily need to be referred by your GP and can refer yourself directly to a Talking therapies service. The service will provide different solutions, including group and individual therapy, for a limited number of sessions which are generally up to six.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your postcode.

Are therapy sessions confidential?

Therapists who are part of a professional organisation such as the BACP, the UKCP, or BPS are bound by an ethical framework that requires them to uphold a confidentiality agreement. Confidentiality is a crucial part of the therapeutic relationship and only under specific circumstances, such as when there has been participation in a criminal act or act of terror, or if there is potential or known harm to the client or others, will a therapist be obligated to break the agreement. These exceptions to the confidentiality agreement are usually discussed during the initial consultation.
