Hello and welcome We can be prompted to seek help from a therapist for many different reasons. You may be struggling with an issue that you can’t seem to resolve alone. Or maybe you are feeling overwhelmed by anxiety or depression, or somehow stuck in life. Is there something that is interfering with your ability to live a meaningful and rewarding life? If this is the case for you, it could be helpful to explore how you are feeling with someone who is professionally trained. Together we can work to help you achieve a greater sense of peace in your life, a greater sense of personal freedom.

Modern life is busy and can be challenging for many of us at some time in our lives. Anxiety, depression and other difficulties can get in the way of living the life that we want, and it can be hard to figure out what to do for the best. Working with an experienced therapist who'll listen in a non-judgemental way to help you understand your problems, what might have caused them or be keeping them going, and what you could do differently can make a huge difference.

Life transitions can be very challenging (new relationship, before and after breakups, the loss of a loved one, menopause, moving into a new environment) and with historical difficult experiences in life that have not been processed many clients come to me with the hope of igniting change.
Warm welcome. I'm a EMDR Europe Accredited Practitioner, BACP Accred. Counsellor and Supervisor. Choosing a therapist with whom to connect and build a trusting therapeutic relationship can feel daunting, even risky, yet also empowering and hopeful. What does it feel like to take off masks, shedding protective layers that keep the authentic, vulnerable self safe while navigating through challenging or traumatic times? Together we can explore what you feel ready and safe to share - whether these are current, buried or almost forgotten experiences.

I believe the most important thing is to build a good relationship between counsellor and client, a relationship where you can feel secure, accepted, and heard. Through this relationship, awareness of how we feel  can be found and with that  a healthier way of managing our behaviours can be achieved.

I specialise in grief work, whether it's the death of a loved one, loss of a relationship, self or financial security.
Are you feeling alone, unheard or misunderstood? Maybe you feel anxious, angry, or hurt. Do you feel as though no one is there for you or listens to how you are feeling? Maybe you have tried to speak to friends and family but they either just don't get it or tell you what you should or shouldn't be doing and the conversation shifts to their problems. When was the last time someone really sat with you and gave you their undivided attention to talk about how YOU are feeling? What would it feel like to truly be heard and understood? To be able to express how you feel without the worry of being judged or fear of upsetting someone?

I am also a qualified Neuroscientist and Psychologist (GMBPsS). I’m here to start your healing journey with you. This is your safe space, where you can explore the pain and trauma that you’ve held with you for however long. I can imagine the thought of sharing this with somebody new is daunting and maybe even scary for some .. but that’s okay. Trust the process and allow yourself to be in this journey together. For my Muslim clients, I may combine elements of an Islamic model for therapy which solidifies the therapeutic relationship.

How long does therapy take for grief?
There is no exact timeline for grief counseling. Some people may start to feel better after just a few sessions, while others may take months or longer to feel relief. Some specific approaches, including some types of CBT, may involve a set number of sessions, or therapy may be open-ended until the patient determines they are ready to wrap up. Just as there is no right or wrong way to grieve, there is no right or wrong way to seek therapy for grief.

When should you seek therapy for grief?
Many people mistakenly believe that their grief needs to be debilitating or all-encompassing to warrant therapy. This is not the case. While people who experience severe, prolonged grief—particularly those who are considering self-harm or engaging in unhealthy substance use—are especially likely to benefit from therapy, so too are people whose grief is less intense but still interfering with well-being or daily functioning. In practice, almost anyone struggling to process a loss could benefit from grief counseling.

Can grief be managed without therapy?
Oftentimes, yes. Grief is a near-universal part of being human, and many find that their grief, while profound, does not stop them from participating in day-to-day life and steadily eases over time without outside help. For others, however, the harsh pain of early grief persists for months or years or leaves them unable to function. This group is especially likely to benefit from seeing a therapist, who can guide them through their grief and help them reconnect with the world.

What happens if grief is left untreated?
Because grief does not in itself necessitate therapy, untreated grief will often resolve on its own. However, for some people—particularly those who would qualify for a diagnosis of prolonged grief disorder—untreated grief can be a source of seemingly endless pain or lead them to withdraw from the world. In such cases, treatment can be indispensable, as it can help an individual adapt to the loss and start living again.
