I am very mindful of how difficult finding a therapist that you feel comfortable with can be and I offer a calm and compassionate approach, while we gain an understanding of your concerns. My primary therapeutic method is ‘psychodynamic’ but I draw on a variety of ‘models’ to help in whichever way is appropriate: These may include CBT or EFT. Once we have revealed, talked-through and understood the root causes of your concerns we can examine ways of dealing with the issues and moving forward. This is a very much a joint effort where we work together to help you through the troublesome episode and out the other side.

Based near Broomfield Hospital. I am an easy to talk to pluralistic counsellor, this enables me to use a different mode of approaches depending on the issues presenting in the therapy process, ranging from psychodynamic, TA, CBT, person centred. You may have experienced a traumatic event and may be be carrying trauma within, this not only affects the mind but the body too. As well as trauma you may be suffering problems in your life that are holding you back, leading you to feel stressed, stuck, anxious or depressed or you feel like you are stuck in a cycle with no-one to talk to. Together we will find a path for you to take.

I support clients in understanding how their responses, communication styles, and past experiences influence interactions, enabling more attuned, supportive, and effective relationships with their children.
Are you struggling with the stresses and strains that family, friendship, and/ or work life can bring and unsure what to do? Life is not always easy or straightforward, our lives can become challenging at times, causing us to feel overwhelmed with an array of complex emotions which can have an impact on our daily lives. Very often we don’t have someone that we can completely share our innermost thoughts and feelings with so having someone who is a trained professional, allows the opportunity to open up and confide in. I trust that I am able to provide a safe, non-judgemental space to work collaboratively with you.

I am a psychodynamic psychotherapist working with individuals, couples, groups and as a supervisor.
Psychotherapy helps people deepen their understanding of themselves, their experiences and their relationships, rather than offering immediate solutions - and through this awareness, deep and long-lasting changes are often realised. It helps to be as open as possible within the sessions and no subject is off limits. All work is confidential.

With over 20 years of experience in mental health, I draw on a range of therapeutic modalities to meet your unique needs, whether as an individual or a couple. I integrate evidence-based therapies such as CBT, ACT, and CFT, alongside body-focused methods like EMDR and Brainspotting to address trauma and stress on a deeper, physiological level.

Couples Counselling
Does couples counseling work?
Research shows that couples counseling is effective; it can reduce relationship distress and improve emotional awareness, communication, empathy, intimacy, and overall relationship satisfaction. For example, emotionally focused therapy was found to be effective for about 75 percent of couples, and those benefits lasted at least two years.

When should a couple seek counseling?
Couples can benefit from counseling if they consistently struggle in their relationship. They may have lost the ability to communicate effectively, become entrenched in harmful patterns, begun to fight more than usual, broken the other’s trust, suffered from a mental or physical illness, or faced any number of other challenges. Many therapists offer free consultations, so if a couple isn’t sure whether therapy is necessary, asking directly can provide clarity.

How can I get my partner to go to couples therapy?
The decision to seek couples therapy is often driven by one partner, who then convinces the other to participate. When discussing the idea, the initiator should be direct and assertive. They can state the problems they see and explain how the relationship would benefit from therapy. In more serious cases, they can also explain how their relationship may suffer without making any changes or seeking professional help.

How does a couple prepare for couples counseling?
The anticipation of beginning couples counseling can be difficult—sometimes more difficult than the first session itself. Taking a few moments to reflect can allay those concerns: What are the current challenges? When and how did they begin? What do they want the relationship to look like in the future? Reflecting on these questions can help individuals or couples articulate their goals. Of course, the therapist will also ask questions and guide couples through the process.
