By developing trusting therapeutic relationships I seek to help clients acquire relevant strategies to overcome resistance and motivate expansion.
I believe I have had an unusual but a very fortunate life. My parents worked abroad and I grew up in India and Australia before being sent to boarding school at age 7. This experience taught me a lot about life, being independent and resilient. Despite my struggles with dyslexia and ADHD, I survived, and became a PE teacher, working in state and independent secondary schools before moving into Special Education. In all these positions I also held senior pastoral roles. My background has shown me the importance of building trust, encouraging open honest, communication, and creating, a safe, non-judgemental environment for clients.

I understand the particular confusion, self-doubt and bewliderment that abusive relationships leave behind, and I will help you make sense of what happened, rebuild trust in yourself, and find your way back to who you are.
Perhaps you've been told you are too sensitive, too much, or not enough. Perhaps you've spent so long adjusting yourself to keep the peace that you're no longer quite sure who you are. Or perhaps you're a counsellor carrying the weight of complex client work and longing for supervision that genuinely meets the depth of what you bring. I am a nurse, midwife and counsellor with many years of clinical experience, and I offer both therapy and clinical supervision. I have spent my whole career sitting with people in some of life's most difficult moments; I do not shy away from the hard stuff and will meet you warmly wherever you are.

Do your emotions sometimes feel bigger than you can manage, or your relationships harder than they should be?
For some, this includes self-harm, suicidal thoughts, or trauma. For others, it may appear as anxiety, persistent conflict, or coping patterns that no longer feel manageable. In therapy, we look at what drives these patterns and how change becomes possible.

Clients come to me for stillness and peace whilst experiencing a range of issues, including trauma, difficult relationships (personal and familial), cultural or religious conflict, navigating transgender and sexuality journeys.
Clinical Supervisor and therapist. Trauma informed; I use compassionate inquiry to understand you as a whole person. Through the therapy, we unravel past experiences, to help you make meaning and move forward leaving trauma, guilt behind. Counselling can be an extremely daunting and anxiety inducing process, especially when you are a private person who powers through; talking about interior thoughts can feel alien and uncomfortable; therefore it is paramount to find a Counsellor who will put you at ease and 'gets you' - especially when you are in need of emotional support.

FAQ - About Couples Therapy
Does couples counseling work?
Research shows that couples counseling is effective; it can reduce relationship distress and improve emotional awareness, communication, empathy, intimacy, and overall relationship satisfaction. For example, emotionally focused therapy was found to be effective for about 75 percent of couples, and those benefits lasted at least two years.
When should a couple seek counseling?
Couples can benefit from counseling if they consistently struggle in their relationship. They may have lost the ability to communicate effectively, become entrenched in harmful patterns, begun to fight more than usual, broken the other’s trust, suffered from a mental or physical illness, or faced any number of other challenges. Many therapists offer free consultations, so if a couple isn’t sure whether therapy is necessary, asking directly can provide clarity.
How can I get my partner to go to couples therapy?
The decision to seek couples therapy is often driven by one partner, who then convinces the other to participate. When discussing the idea, the initiator should be direct and assertive. They can state the problems they see and explain how the relationship would benefit from therapy. In more serious cases, they can also explain how their relationship may suffer without making any changes or seeking professional help.
How does a couple prepare for couples counseling?
The anticipation of beginning couples counseling can be difficult—sometimes more difficult than the first session itself. Taking a few moments to reflect can allay those concerns: What are the current challenges? When and how did they begin? What do they want the relationship to look like in the future? Reflecting on these questions can help individuals or couples articulate their goals. Of course, the therapist will also ask questions and guide couples through the process.
