Embrace new beliefs.
Most fearing, angering and blaming comes from old beliefs, expectations and stereotypes. These are programs installed from society, your up bringing and your peer groups. Loving yourself deeply and exquisitely means you explore these very important processes and let go of the expectations and stereotypes that don't support you; that were dragging you down.
Let's explore this in more detail now.

I work face to face and online.
I work with my clients to find the best way forward. This means I taylor my modalities to your need. Maybe CBT might be best, or Transactional Analysis or Gestalt or Person Centred or a mixture of them with life coaching or hypnosis. Counselling is about change and sometimes that may require homework too.

I have had my own experiences of mental health issues and neurodiversity. I have had to navigate life’s challenges but have done so with the help of various forms of therapy. Therefore, I feel that I can approach our work together from both personal and professional gained experience.

Like me, my client base has been gloriously eclectic. I have extensive experience of working with many types of loss. Grief is painful no matter whether it's as a result of a relationship breakup, loosing touch with parts of yourself. Slowly painfully loosing a loved one to Alzheimers/Dementia, being a carer for a child with an eating disorder. I regularly work with clients who have been in some way affected by a Brain Tumour. Interestingly Anger and Rage is something i have worked with regularly in the last 4 years. If you or your partner are neurodivergent I can help you find collaborative ways of communicating together.

Do you identify as autistic, ADHD or neurodivergent? Have you tried to get help before but found that services weren’t accessible to you or tailored to the way your brain works or your priorities?
I often work with people who have tried therapy before but found it hasn’t made a meaningful change. Perhaps they keep getting into bad relationships or feel stuck in a cycle of burnout they can’t break. They might be left feeling like they’ve failed at therapy, when, in fact, therapy that has failed them.

I have now resumed face to face meetings following UKCP's guidance.
People come to psychoanalytically informed therapy for many reasons—depression, anxiety, relationship difficulties, stress, shame, or low self-esteem. What these struggles often have in common is that they have been present for some time and, despite our best efforts, do not improve when we try to manage them alone. This can leave us feeling stuck and isolated, with symptoms and frustrations that gradually intensify.
The aim of this therapy is not only to alleviate conscious symptoms, but also to develop a deeper understanding and awareness of the underlying emotional life that shapes our relationships and our feelings.

You might have a lot going on in life that looks “fine” from the outside. A job. People around you. Things that suggest you’re doing okay.
And still, there can be this quiet feeling of being on your own with it all. Not fully able to say it. Not wanting to burden anyone. So you keep going, as most people do, while something inside feels a bit heavy, a bit distant, and a bit alone. It can be exhausting carrying so much without feeling truly seen or understood.

What are the benefits of in-person therapy?
In-person therapy offers several benefits that some people find highly valuable for their mental health treatment. Being present in the same room as your therapist can create a stronger sense of connection and allow for more nuanced communication through body language. Some people may also find it easier to focus in therapy when they are in a dedicated space and away from potential distractions related to home or work; attending an in-person session provides a clear boundary between therapy time and the rest of your life. For certain therapeutic approaches, such as Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR), exposure therapy, or somatic therapy, being in person may be particularly important, as these therapies benefit from the therapist being able to observe and respond to a client’s physical cues effectively. Additionally, some individuals simply feel more comfortable discussing sensitive or painful topics when they are face-to-face with their therapist rather than on a screen.
When should I choose in-person therapy over online therapy?
In-person therapy may be a better choice when you need a structured therapeutic environment separate from your daily life, when you find it difficult to focus or feel comfortable in an online setting, or when privacy at home is a concern. It may also be more appropriate if you are dealing with severe mental health symptoms that require close monitoring or if your therapy involves approaches that rely heavily on observing physical cues. On the other hand, if convenience, scheduling flexibility, or access to specialists outside your immediate area are priorities, online therapy may be a better fit. Many therapists offer both options, so you can also discuss with a provider which format might work best for your specific situation.
How do I find an in-person therapist?
You can use Psychology Today's therapist directory to find an in-person therapist in your area. You can search by location, insurance accepted, specialty areas, therapeutic approaches, and other criteria to narrow down providers who meet your needs. Each therapist profile includes information about their credentials, areas of expertise, and whether they offer in-person sessions. Once you have identified potential therapists, you can contact them directly through the directory to schedule an initial consultation and determine whether they are a good fit before committing to ongoing treatment. When reaching out, it can be helpful to confirm their availability for in-person appointments, their office location, and whether they accept your insurance.
