Maybe the journey isn't about becoming anything. Maybe it's about unbecoming everything that isn't really you, so you can be who you were meant to be all along. Our lives present unique challenges – relationship difficulties, bereavements, life transitions, & chronic symptoms - often creating feelings of frustration, anxiety, & sadness. At such times it is easy to forget that we all need assistance in addressing these challenges, especially as they can often feel overwhelming, or even impossible, to deal with. We all deserve to have support when we are struggling, & often it is specifically this support that allows change to occur.

You might decide to contact me if you're struggling with self-esteem; feeling lonely, empty, lost, disconnected, flat or depressed; experiencing difficulties in relationships with partners, family members or friends; preoccupied by memories or feelings about childhood; overwhelmed by strong emotions or recurrent anxious thoughts; suffering following a traumatic experience or loss.
Starting psychotherapy can feel like a real challenge. It takes courage to open up about the things that trouble you and hold you back. Some people tell themselves their problems don’t count, others have learnt to hide their feelings to get by, and some worry about being judged if they speak honestly and vulnerably. That’s okay. I offer a space where you can safely explore and work through these things, and I’ll be an active, understanding presence alongside you. Therapy offers the chance to feel heard, heal and grow from painful experiences, and recognise patterns that keep you stuck.

Are your connections with others leaving you anxious, frustrated or sad? Do you support others without getting that support back for yourself? Maybe you struggle with setting boundaries or you put down a boundary but then break it because you feel guilty. Do you feel 'not enough' or 'too much' and compare yourself negatively against others? You may have tried tips from self-help books or social media with limited success or read about the importance of self-love without really knowing what this would look like or how to achieve it. Therapy can help.

I work with a range of issues, including anxiety, generalised anxiety disorder, depression, bereavement and loss, relationship difficulties (past and present), life transitions, low self-esteem, and trauma.
I work with clients collaboratively, paying attention to thoughts, feelings, and the body, to enable them to build self-awareness and resilience, and develop a greater sense of security and peace. I am particularly interested in how clients think about their past relationships and losses, and how this impacts their functioning in the present day.

” We might experience a bereavement or loss (a job, a relationship, a marriage); or issues may arise related to dating, getting married, or ageing and retirement.
From a Jungian perspective, therapy (analysis) begins with the understanding that every person (including you) is unique and has the potential to become fully “individual.” This will involve looking at the way past experiences may have affected you and the way those might continue to get in the way of “you becoming you.”

For a lot of that time my work has been focused on working with the bereaved, both adults and children, helping them to understand their grief and finding ways to live with their loss.
My method of working with clients is Integrative Person Centred, which is a talking therapy centred around the client and their needs. I believe that the client is the expert on themselves and that my role as the therapist is to support them and to help them develop their strengths and abilities.

Im a very intuitive therapist, i feel and sense someone before they sit down. I am confident in using tools to support and hold you while you find your way to answers you may seek. Do you have to make a difficult decision? Do you still have pain from the past interfering with now? Or perhaps you just need to find ways to cope?

Bereavement Counsellors

How long does therapy take for grief?

There is no exact timeline for grief counseling. Some people may start to feel better after just a few sessions, while others may take months or longer to feel relief. Some specific approaches, including some types of CBT, may involve a set number of sessions, or therapy may be open-ended until the patient determines they are ready to wrap up. Just as there is no right or wrong way to grieve, there is no right or wrong way to seek therapy for grief.

When should you seek therapy for grief?

Many people mistakenly believe that their grief needs to be debilitating or all-encompassing to warrant therapy. This is not the case. While people who experience severe, prolonged grief—particularly those who are considering self-harm or engaging in unhealthy substance use—are especially likely to benefit from therapy, so too are people whose grief is less intense but still interfering with well-being or daily functioning. In practice, almost anyone struggling to process a loss could benefit from grief counseling.

Can grief be managed without therapy?

Oftentimes, yes. Grief is a near-universal part of being human, and many find that their grief, while profound, does not stop them from participating in day-to-day life and steadily eases over time without outside help. For others, however, the harsh pain of early grief persists for months or years or leaves them unable to function. This group is especially likely to benefit from seeing a therapist, who can guide them through their grief and help them reconnect with the world.

What happens if grief is left untreated?

Because grief does not in itself necessitate therapy, untreated grief will often resolve on its own. However, for some people—particularly those who would qualify for a diagnosis of prolonged grief disorder—untreated grief can be a source of seemingly endless pain or lead them to withdraw from the world. In such cases, treatment can be indispensable, as it can help an individual adapt to the loss and start living again.
