I enjoy working with individuals, couples and family estrangements, particularly with relationship and communication breakdowns. I also have clients who identify as dual heritage and wish to explore 'who am I?' in their cultural context to address any relationship breakdown. I also support clients who have been traumatised and for those who are happy to engage, set personal development homework, so clients can witness their own progress. And as a Christian therapist, who is guided by the teachings of the Bible, I enjoy working ethiclly and opening, treating all clients with compassion, kindness and care.

My ideal client is someone navigating complex emotional landscapes, whether as part of a couple, a family unit, or as an individual. They often struggle with communication barriers, unresolved conflicts, or feelings of isolation and anxiety. Their needs revolve around understanding their emotions, improving relationships, and finding healthier coping mechanisms. They seek a safe, supportive space where they can explore their thoughts and feelings without judgment. Their goals include developing deeper connections with their loved ones, gaining insight into their own mental health, and fostering resilience to face life challenges.

Feeling SAD, CONFUSED and/or ANGRY? Feeling stuck/trapped? What's the point? Nothing changes? I know the fears of opening up emotionally or mentally. I also know now of how beneficial it is for YOU. To have time to understand your 'self' so that YOU can process and heal, change YOUR future. It's empowering. I have studied for 6 years, to Masters level. Committed to my own personal development. Losing nearly three stone in weight (an emotional eater). Unattached from drinking 5 times a week to now occasionally socially or sometimes I just drink water and ice! Smoking and a fitter body is next. YOU are important! Take control back!

I offer face-to-face and online therapy for adults, children, and young people and couples.
As an integrative therapist, I view you as a complete individual, considering your mental, physical, and emotional needs within the context of your relationships and environment. I use techniques from various modalities to tailor an approach that fits your personal, communication, or learning styles. My primary method is Systemic Therapy, which explores broader interactions and aims to change transactional patterns among system members. In addition to talking therapy, I may use resources and creative therapies to address specific difficulties.

Life changing therapy: Bupa Recognised practitioner. You may be struggling to manage; anxiety, panic or depression; or perhaps you have experienced difficulties in the past which still affect you; childhood trauma or adversity? Or you may find relationships difficult. Many people are affected by these experiences. Perhaps it's making you feel alone or different to others. That can change. Counselling and psychology can help you to understand the ways you think, feel and behave, and by understanding the root causes of your difficulties. You may be suprised how quickly you can get things off the ground.

If you are looking for a counsellor that puts you at the centre of the work, allowing you to go at your own pace, I am here for you. Working in an integrative way, I work with people aged 12+ and focus on trying to provide a non-judgemental therapeutic relationship where I aim for us to connect in a way for you to be comfortable to be yourself and say the unspoken things. I will get alongside you to explore and notice with curiosity what you share, gently challenging at times, asking questions and highlighting where there might be repetitive behaviours and thought patterns, that may have been harmful or unproductive in the past.

Having trained with Relate, my area of expertise is relationships. I can offer to support to people who are considering the future of their relationship or struggling with their new reality following a separation or divorce. I appreciate that asking for support can feel like a big step to take, and that many clients might feel nervous about what to expect. In recognition of this, it is my aim to provide a counselling relationship that is relaxed, supportive and down-to -earth.

I offer individual sessions in Doncaster and online therapy for those who prefer it.
Art Therapy is not about creating “good art” or taking lessons; you don’t need to be an artist to participate. I provide art materials to offer as tools for expression and play, helping you make sense of your thoughts, feelings, and experiences. Maybe you're feeling stuck, overwhelmed or unable to cope. With several years of experience in trauma-informed settings, I draw upon attachment focussed approaches to work at your own pace, collaborating to identify how Art Therapy can support your journey. My priority is to create a space where you feel heard, accepted, and understood.

Is online therapy as effective as in-person?
Numerous studies suggest that online therapy can be as effective as in-person therapy. However, further research is needed to determine if online therapy provides the same benefits across all client populations. Individuals with severe mental illnesses, such as schizophrenia or bipolar disorder, or those who may benefit from in-person check-ins, like those with eating disorders, may not experience the same level of benefit from online therapy. Nonetheless, the success of online therapy, much like in-person therapy, often hinges on the quality of the therapeutic relationship between the therapist and the client rather than the specific modality of therapy used.
What are the advantages and disadvantages of therapy conducted online?
One of the main advantages of online therapy is its convenience for both clients and therapists. It also allows clients who require specialised therapy to access a wider range of professionals than they could with only in-person sessions. Additionally, online therapy may be a more affordable option in some cases and often offers the same insurance benefits as in-person therapy. However, online therapy may not be suitable for everyone, especially those who value face-to-face interaction with a therapist. Therapists may find it more challenging to assess clients accurately in an online setting due to reduced nonverbal cues on camera. There is also the increased risk that disruptions caused by external factors, such as technology malfunctions, can hinder the therapy session. For these reasons, many therapists offer a "hybrid" therapeutic approach, alternating between seeing clients in-person and online.
Is online therapy suitable for children and adolescents?
Just like with adults, the accessibility and convenience of online therapy can greatly benefit children and adolescents. In fact, children and adolescents may be more accustomed to navigating online platforms than older adults, making online sessions feel more natural for them. Teens might also be interested in using additional online tools, such as therapist-recommended apps, as an adjunct to online therapy sessions. Apps for developing CBT skills, practicing mindfulness exercises, or tracking thoughts and moods can be helpful for teens receiving therapy. However, it's important to note that not all therapeutic modalities are well-suited to online therapy, especially those used with younger children. For example, play therapy, which helps younger children express their emotions, often requires in-person sessions to be fully effective.
Can I receive prescriptions and medication management with online therapy?
The ability for psychiatrists to prescribe medications through online therapy varies based on the medication and the states where the medical professional and client are located. While many prescribing regulations were relaxed during the COVID-19 pandemic, some states still enforce rules, especially concerning controlled substances, which may mandate an in-person visit before prescribing. Generally, however, medical professionals can prescribe non-controlled substances through online therapy sessions just as they do during in-person sessions.
