I work extensively with autistic, ADHD and LGBTQIA+ clients, alongside anxiety, grief, identity and self-esteem.
Most people I work with don't come to therapy because they're broken. They come because they're tired. Tired of overthinking, questioning themselves, carrying everyone else, or feeling like they've lost who they are. My clients often struggle with anxiety, self-esteem, grief, identity, relationships or life transitions. Many have spent years coping alone and want a space where they no longer have to perform, have all the answers or pretend they're okay.

As someone who has navigated my own neurodivergent journey, I know how powerful it can be to gain self-awareness and feel truly understood.
I believe in the power of growth and self-discovery. My approach to counselling isn’t just about coping day to day, it’s about helping you understand yourself on a deeper level, so you can move forward with clarity and a sense of your self worth.
You might be feeling anxious, burnt out, or disconnected from others. Maybe social situations feel overwhelming, or you struggle to express yourself and be truly seen. Perhaps work is draining your energy, leaving you exhausted and unfulfilled. Or maybe you don’t quite know why you feel stuck, you just know something needs to change.

Hi, I'm Lauren, an AuDHD CBT psychotherapist specialising in therapy for neurodivergent adults.
As an AuDHD CBT therapist, I know many neurodivergent people, especially those identified or diagnosed later in life, have tried advice that sounded sensible but simply didn't fit how their brain works. That's why I adapt CBT for ADHD and autism, focusing on strategies that are realistic, flexible and designed for everyday life, not textbook expectations.

Depression and anxiety can be caused by several factors. Oftentimes, if you have grown up ‘different’ in some way, there can be trauma and shame relating to this. You might have tried to blend in to avoid being isolated, but this may have come at a cost to you. Through our mutually created relationship, we will explore your difficulties with compassion.

Whether you’re navigating anxiety, self-doubt, relationship struggles, or life as a neurodivergent person, I can offer you the space to untangle what’s going on inside.
People often tell me that I’m really easy to talk to and connect with – friendly, down to earth and someone that you can be yourself around to explore your thoughts and feelings. I believe that connection is one of the most important parts of therapy, feeling comfortable enough to open up and know that you’ll be met with warmth, humour and genuine care.

I have over 15 years' experience working with adults who have experienced childhood abuse, and late-diagnosed or self-identified neurodivergent adults — particularly those who are autistic and/or ADHD.
You might be coming to therapy feeling overwhelmed, confused, or questioning yourself — not because there is something wrong with you, but because you’ve been carrying too much for too long. Many people I work with have spent years trying to cope alone or feeling misunderstood. Therapy can be a space to feel validated, understood, and less alone with what you’re experiencing. I offer a calm, compassionate and grounding space where you can slow down, feel understood, and begin to make sense of your experiences at your own pace -by listening deeply, reflecting what I notice, and gently asking questions that support self-understanding.

My clients are people seeking a calm, accepting space to explore relationship issues, neurodivergence, identity questions including LGBTQ+, grief, trauma, anxiety, or overwhelm who value a relationally focused collaborative approach that adapts to their needs. Their goals often include easing distress or stuckness, understanding patterns, finding ways forward and steadiness during times of transition, and feeling more connected to themselves and others. Above all, they want to feel seen, supported, and able to grow at their own pace with a therapist who meets them with warmth, curiosity and respect.

What is the most effective treatment for autism?
Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) has come to be considered the standard treatment for children with autism spectrum disorder, and research has confirmed its effectiveness for many children. Therapists trained in ABA techniques work with children (and their parents) on developing social skills, communication and learning abilities, and everyday habits of hygiene and grooming. The clinician will tailor their program to the child’s particular need but the overarching goal will be to help them advance as far as possible toward independence based on their level of symptoms and decrease the need for additional special services. Families should seek a mental health professional specifically trained in ABA, and holding special certification in the technique, who has extensive experience not only with the approach but in using it with children with the same level of symptoms as the child who needs care.
How does ABA work?
Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) sessions, which typically focus on positive reinforcement, can be intensive, lasting two or more hours several times a week, and continuing for two years or more. Therapists can also be expected to ask parents to take an active role in reinforcing lessons. Research has found that the technique can lead to major improvements that decrease the need for additional special services.
How does treatment for autism work?
Therapy sessions based on Applied Behavior Analysis will likely be frequent, intensive, and highly structured. After a thorough assessment, a therapist will help a child understand and develop skills in a range of areas, including communication, motor skills, social skills, self-care, play, and academic skills, as well as routines of daily living like hygiene. Typically, the therapist will help a child break down the components of a behavior—often referred to as the antecedent (what prompts an action), the behavior, and the consequence(what immediately follows)—and then reward the child at every step, while also asking parents to reinforce the lessons, and the rewards, throughout the day. This core therapy may be supplemented by occupational or speech therapy, and antidepressants, antipsychotics, and anticonvulsants may be prescribed to address specific severe symptoms.
How long does therapy for autism take?
Some people with autism spectrum disorder may be engaged in some level of therapy for many years, but research shows that treatment will be most effective if it is begun early and delivered intensively. When therapy begins by age 3, children tend to be better able to grasp and adopt the skills needed to manage everyday life, including attending school and establishing social relationships. This type of early-intervention treatment regimen is highly structured, typically involving 20 to 40 hours of one-on-one therapy per week, along with additional hours of engagement managed by parents, for a period of two years or more, although the duration of treatment is dependent on the child’s level of symptoms and pace of progress.
