Living with a long-term health condition can be incredibly challenging - physically, emotionally, and mentally. I work with adults who are navigating these challenges, whether they’re dealing with persistent pain, fatigue, or respiratory, gastrointestinal, or neurological conditions. Many of my clients are people who are used to managing life well - until their health changed everything. You might be feeling overwhelmed, anxious, low in mood, or struggling to adjust to a new reality. I help people make sense of what they’re going through, and find ways to improve both emotional wellbeing and quality of life.

Choosing a therapist can be a stressful process, and it's difficult to decide which kind of therapy to try. Many people find it helpful to work with a therapist who has trained in more than one therapy, who can switch to a different therapy when needed, and who can tailor sessions according to your needs. My 16 years experience in supporting neurodivergent clients (with ADHD, autism, dyslexia, dyspraxia or other difficulties) led me to further training in 2021 in autism, and specialised CBT and ACT for ADHD and emotional regulation problems.

I offer integrative child and young people's counselling and therapeutic child and teenage support. All our children and young people sometimes go through phases where not everything is going to plan. There might have been a bereavement, exam stress, bullying or sudden life changes have had an impact on their self esteem. Sometimes they also struggle to find good friends, put themselves at risk or their physical health becomes affected.

A lot of our emotional wounds stem from difficult relationships we've had with others, and I believe they can be best healed within a supportive, empathic, and attuned therapeutic relationship. That’s why I place trust, safety, and deep personal understanding at the core of my approach, helping clients foster healing, personal growth, and emotional resilience.

Sometimes life can feel overwhelming, chaotic, or just difficult to make sense of - there are times we all need someone to talk to. As a trainee specialising in integrative and humanistic psychotherapy, I offer a warm, safe and empathetic space where you can explore your feelings and experiences, so that together you can come to understand yourself and how your life has unfolded. I believe emotional healing requires a holistic approach that nurtures mind, body and spirit but that no one size fits all. My training enables me to form a unique relationship with every client working in a way to meet their individual needs.

So stress is a regular feature of your life that affects health , sleep, emotional wellbeing ,sex and work,.
Couple therapy brings two people together with different views on what is the problem here . The work is a challenge to you. I use the Gottman method which is evidence based and gives a roadmap for the work. You both complete a comprehensive assessment before the first session, which includes individual time ,then couple time to conclude.

Change is possible.....On the outside things look fine, but inside there’s a strain, a pressure, or an internal voice that doubts you. When you’re just managing to get through the day and the things that usually help don’t seem to work anymore, it’s easy to start feeling on edge or disconnected. Sleepless nights may appear, or your body might carry more tension, aches, or tightness than it used to. Overwhelm can creep in, and you might find yourself stuck in loops of worry, self-doubt, or endless what-ifs.

This is an extremely troubling time, I am experienced in working online. I work with Individuals and couples with anxiety, depression and finding ways of coping. Talking about sex, sexuality and relationships can be extremely difficult. Our own feelings of shame can keep us feeling trapped and feel that there is nowhere to go. I offer a non judgemental space to be able to talk sensitively working to resolve issues. We will agree the focus of the work from the outset and keep this in mind throughout the journey together. We will work together to facilitate change in the areas you feel are needed.

Feeling Stuck? Not sure what to do next or what that may look like? Counselling can help by exploring the current presenting issue and reasons for its presence in the moment, with some past focus and exploration of the impact of the issue for you coming to therapy. I work with what you need in the room as I believe you are the expert of what is going on and using this to inform the way we tailor support to overcome what has brought you to therapy. I use an array of techniques to suit your needs working with anxiety, stress, grief and loss, relationship issues and long term illness.

Sleep or Insomnia Counsellors

How effective is treatment for insomnia?

The most effective treatments for insomnia are behavioral techniques that reduce anxiety, including anxiety about falling asleep, and allow the body’s natural cycles to be recalibrated. The most common treatment is cognitive behavioral therapy for insomnia (CBT-I), which researchers have found to be more useful than medication, with rates of success as high as 80 percent.

Are there specific medications for sleep problems?

There are many medications, both over-the-counter and prescription that treat sleep problems. Supplements such as melatonin are popular and may help, though there is little evidence that it is more effective than a placebo. Prescription medications such as zolpidem are sometimes prescribed.

Are there natural treatments for sleep problems?

There are many natural treatments for everyday sleep problems. Reducing blue-light emitting screens, setting a regular bedtime, regular exercise, reducing caffeine and nicotine consumption, and keeping the bedroom dark and cool at night are all lifestyle changes that can help those who struggle with sleep but may not reach the level of an insomnia diagnosis.

What’s the difference between having trouble falling asleep and insomnia?

Life events, stress, and anxiety can lead to sleepless nights for everyone from time to time. To be diagnosed with insomnia, a patient must experience trouble falling asleep, trouble remaining asleep, waking up too early, or non-restorative sleep at least three nights per week for at least one month. Sleep problems affect one-third to one-half of the population, while chronic insomnia affects about 10 to 15 percent of people.
