My main speciality is bereavement, loss and anxiety disorders around health, work, family, social or death, including OCD.
Hello! Well done for seeking out counselling/psychotherapy to help you explore what is holding you back from living a fulfilled life. It takes great courage and self awareness to take this first step. I started my therapeutic journey in 2010 during my training to be a therapist, which had given me the confidence to make life changes. I offer you a safe, confidential place to talk, whereby I will see and hear you, attentively. I believe patience, self-belief, and compassion to be your companions, and our work together can give you the opportunity to make those all important changes that are needed to help you and your life to grow.

We can explore whatever is on your mind; are you struggling with persistent anxiety, feelings of shame, guilt or loss?
Therapy often brings up buried deep emotions and upsetting memories. We may discover repeating patterns of behaviour, we can explore these and process together. I also offer walk & talk (50min & 1.5hr) as nature is so good for our wellbeing. I hold a current DBS, have regular supervisions, complete CPD and follow the BACP code of ethics.

Maybe you are feeling anxious or depressed, you might be suffering a loss or illness, or simply feeling stuck.
Couples can experience relationship breakdown, trust or boundary issues, or simply feel that their relationship no longer feels quite right. I work with what you both bring to your unique dynamic to enable you to communicate in a safe and welcoming space where you will not be judged. I offer an introductory session prior to any decision to commit.

Life can be difficult, and humans are complex beings. It’s not surprising we can end up feeling unhappy, lost or overwhelmed. Dealing with emotions is an important part of self-care and counselling can equip you with the awareness and tools to be kinder to yourself. People often choose to have therapy when things go wrong, but you don’t have to be in crisis.

Relationships can be challenging especially if the communication is poor. Couples Therapy can enable a better understanding of one another and with a better understanding, acceptance or change can be possible. No one deserves to be in an unhappy relationship. Working as an experienced Couples and Relationship Therapist, I am aware that small niggles, intimacy challenges or deeper underlying sadness can bring a couple to seek help. I offer an empathic space to discuss any issues together without judgment or shame.

This inquiry is often prompted by some degree of difficulty; illness, loss, trauma, breakdown etc
My life is dedicated to understanding what enables humans to thrive - individually and in groups - and the trauma that frustrates and impedes us. My research has generated a broad and deep psychological understanding. I offer people in-depth exploration - often getting to the root of things quickly - in a reflective and illuminating space.

I have 20 years experience in the counselling role, originally working with both CRUSE Bereavement Care and Developing Health & Independence agencies.
We can all struggle and sometimes it's difficult to stop and notice what’s not working for us. We can fall into repeating cycles of damaging or unhelpful habits, behaviors, and relationships. We can hold a negative belief system about ourselves which impacts our confidence and forms low self esteem. So if you feel like you’re surviving, not thriving; if you're feeling anxious & have low mood / depression; if you're having intrusive thoughts or wondering if you're experiencing OCD; if you're finding your work or home life stressful; if you’re dealing with family or relationship issues; if you're just not happy...I can help!

Our early life experiences may impact on the way we form relationships; struggling to connect with others, and we may even struggle to feel a connection with ourselves. Trauma at a young age, may be the cause of that disconnect. Sometimes leading to the same issues or patterns of behaviour coming up over and over again. Our work will involve engaging with your experiences in a compassionate and curious way. Giving you the space you need to make sense of and begin to understand your lived experience.

Are you struggling with a relationship or juggling the competing demands of your private and professional life? Are you feeling stuck and uncertain about how to fulfil your potential? Have you recently lost someone close to you? I first sought help as a young mother and the benefits were so enormous, I chose to train as a psychotherapist myself. I work one-to-one and with couples, helping you to identify patterns in your relationship with others, and with yourself, and establishing ways of changing those patterns that do not serve you.

How long does therapy take for grief?
There is no exact timeline for grief counseling. Some people may start to feel better after just a few sessions, while others may take months or longer to feel relief. Some specific approaches, including some types of CBT, may involve a set number of sessions, or therapy may be open-ended until the patient determines they are ready to wrap up. Just as there is no right or wrong way to grieve, there is no right or wrong way to seek therapy for grief.

When should you seek therapy for grief?
Many people mistakenly believe that their grief needs to be debilitating or all-encompassing to warrant therapy. This is not the case. While people who experience severe, prolonged grief—particularly those who are considering self-harm or engaging in unhealthy substance use—are especially likely to benefit from therapy, so too are people whose grief is less intense but still interfering with well-being or daily functioning. In practice, almost anyone struggling to process a loss could benefit from grief counseling.

Can grief be managed without therapy?
Oftentimes, yes. Grief is a near-universal part of being human, and many find that their grief, while profound, does not stop them from participating in day-to-day life and steadily eases over time without outside help. For others, however, the harsh pain of early grief persists for months or years or leaves them unable to function. This group is especially likely to benefit from seeing a therapist, who can guide them through their grief and help them reconnect with the world.

What happens if grief is left untreated?
Because grief does not in itself necessitate therapy, untreated grief will often resolve on its own. However, for some people—particularly those who would qualify for a diagnosis of prolonged grief disorder—untreated grief can be a source of seemingly endless pain or lead them to withdraw from the world. In such cases, treatment can be indispensable, as it can help an individual adapt to the loss and start living again.
