Hi, I’m Sophie, a Chartered Clinical Psychologist specialising in anxiety, OCD, phobias and trauma. Many of the people I work with are high-functioning on the outside, but internally feel overwhelmed by worry, intrusive thoughts, or patterns they can’t seem to break. You might find yourself overthinking, avoiding situations, replaying conversations, or feeling stuck in cycles of fear or self-criticism. Together we can find you some relief, but also explore and understand why this is happening and how to change it.

During our initial session, we will create a timeline of your significant life experiences and then explore them against how you are feeling in the present.
Thank you for stopping here. If you're searching for support, you've already taken the first step. I'm a Norwich-based counsellor, BACP member, Graduate Member of the British Psychological Society, and final year doctoral student in Counselling Psychology. I specialise in trauma, complex trauma, EMDR, sexual abuse recovery, and anxiety. I'll listen, walk alongside you, and help you find your way through. That first enquiry is not as daunting as it feels — take a breath and reach out, or go to my website to find out more.

Life can bring overwhelming stress, low mood, and anxiety, and sometimes these emotions can be hard to share with friends or family.
In our sessions, I use a structured, goal-oriented approach to help you build the tools you need to address your current difficulties and manage them effectively. You’ll have the space to talk through your thoughts and feelings, and together we’ll find ways to take practical steps toward a more balanced, fulfilling life.

Managing life's challenges and our mental health can be overwhelming.
I am an integrative counsellor, which means I use a combination of therapeutic approaches to best support you. My own therapeutic journey helped me to work through a number of significant losses and periods of depression. That process led me to become a counsellor and is something that is really important to me. I am also a qualified and experienced coach.

I am very mindful of how difficult finding a therapist that you feel comfortable with can be and I offer a calm and compassionate approach, while we gain an understanding of your concerns. My primary therapeutic method is ‘psychodynamic’ but I draw on a variety of ‘models’ to help in whichever way is appropriate: These may include CBT or EFT. Once we have revealed, talked-through and understood the root causes of your concerns we can examine ways of dealing with the issues and moving forward. This is a very much a joint effort where we work together to help you through the troublesome episode and out the other side.

Maybe life doesn't look or feel as you would like and you're currently rudderless, living, but just going through the motions.
My training in Dialectical Behavioural Therapy enables me to offer skills around: Self-acceptance, wise decision making, self-compassion, mindfulness, emotional regulation, communication skills (being able to assert your needs and wishes), and bring about both cognitive (thought) and behavioural changes. DBT weaves in principles seen in both CBT and ACT.

Have you lost your way, your purpose, your spark? You may be in a dark place and feel there is no way out. I have been a psychotherapeutic counsellor for 10 years, specialising in anxiety, trauma and abuse, attachment issues, low-self esteem and anxiety. My method is to create a very safe and understanding space, listening deeply and reflecting - sometimes gently challenging - what I see and hear. The aim is to help build a clearer picture of who you are and who you want to be, inviting change, resilience, compassion and self-awareness. I also offer tools that might help, including writing, narrative therapy and hypnotherapy.

Next, we will explore how these thoughts influence the way you live your life.
We will focus on addressing the disconnect between the 'head & heart' - what you intellectually know & what you really feel. We will teach your brain that intrusive thoughts are meaningless & you don't need to do anything about them. This will be achieved through behavioural change, including ERP. You can read more about my approach on my website.

My initial sessions would be spent exploring your needs and what is impacting your life.
Feeling overwhelmed, anxious, or not like yourself lately? When your mind is constantly busy or your mood feels low, even everyday things can start to feel difficult. I specialise in helping people break free from cycles of trauma, worry, & self doubt so they can feel in control & start living more fully again. Using Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), we’ll work together to understand what keeps these patterns going & develop practical, evidence-based strategies to help you move forward. This might include learning how to manage anxious thoughts, reduce avoidance, build confidence, & respond differently to difficult emotions.

Life Coaching Counsellors
What can I expect from life coaching?
Clients and coaches will typically start by identifying the problem area(s) that the client hopes to address—then, the coach will help the client brainstorm potential solutions and explore concrete techniques to help the client attain their goals. Coaching is typically short-term and focused on finding solutions in the here and now, rather than exploring a client’s past. In addition to strategies aimed at the client’s specific concerns, coaches may encourage general stress management techniques such as meditation.

Can a life coach help treat anxiety?
Because the majority of life coaches are not licensed clinicians, they are not qualified to diagnose or treat anxiety. Anyone struggling with anxiety or another mental health condition should seek help from a licensed mental health practitioner. However, some coaching clients who struggle with subclinical anxiety report that working with their coach on other problems—such as career dissatisfaction or unhealthy habits—has a positive effect on their anxiety.

Can life coaching be done online?
Yes. While life coaching often happens in person, many coaches conduct sessions over the phone or via online platforms such as Zoom or Skype. Because life coaches are not subject to local licensing regulations in the same way that therapists are, they are able to see clients who live in other locations.

How long does life coaching last?
Life coaching tends to be a shorter-term process than therapy, though it does not always unfold over a specific period of time and is instead based on the coach’s or the client’s preferences. Coaching often takes place over three to 12 months but may be shorter or longer if necessary.
