Life can feel exhausting when you’ve spent years carrying anxiety, low mood, trauma, or relationship difficulties while trying to hold everything together on the outside. Some people come to therapy knowing exactly what is wrong, while others simply know they do not feel like themselves anymore. I work with adults, children, and young people experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, emotional overwhelm, low self-esteem, masking, people-pleasing, and relationship difficulties.

I specialise in trauma, eating disorders, and OCD, using CBT and EMDR.
You might feel stuck despite doing everything “right”. You may struggle with trauma, eating difficulties, intrusive thoughts, or a harsh inner critic that’s hard to switch off. Many of my clients are deep thinkers who feel responsible for everything and exhausted by it. You might look like you’re coping on the outside, while internally feeling overwhelmed or disconnected. I offer structured therapy and EMDR intensives to help you understand what’s keeping you stuck

I support clients facing challenges such as: anxiety, stress, grief, relationship difficulties, loss of identity and disordered eating / body image struggles.
Seeking help takes courage. Feelings of anxiety, confusion and isolation can be overwhelming and acknowledging you need help is a brave first step. I hope to offer a warm and gentle space that encourages you to be open with your thoughts and feelings; to be able to speak about what is on your mind without fear of judgement. Building trust can be scary, so having a safe space is important. Together, we’ll look at and explore your difficulties, so that we may begin to understand them better. We might think about negative thoughts and emotions, reflect on past or present relationships, and consider your place in the world.

I offer the first session free of charge so we can see if we connect. I specialise in working with anxiety, depression, family issues and low self-esteem. With over 10 years of experience in private practice, I offer one-to-one therapy for adults and adolescents who are searching for a safe space to talk openly and honestly without judgment or self-censorship. I believe good mental health depends on self-love, which shows up in the choices you make, the way you speak to yourself in your head, how you treat your body, who you allow into your life, and how you protect your boundaries.

I also work with eating disorders, pregnancy and baby loss, separation, divorce and trauma.
Warm, attachment-based counselling for anxiety, grief, work-related stress and life changes in Norfolk, London and online. Life can often look calm from the outside—but that doesn't necessarily mean you feel calm inside. Perhaps you’ve been carrying anxiety, stress or grief. Maybe relationships feel difficult, work feels overwhelming, or you’ve started to notice patterns in yourself that you want to understand. Many people reach out for counselling when life feels heavy or confusing. You might feel unsure where to begin, or what you even need—only that something doesn’t feel right, and you’d like a safe, private space to talk.

I have a particular interest in eating disorders, relationships, and sexual compulsivity, and work with both individuals and couples – always taking care to create a warm, welcoming environment for clients.
My approach is adapted to your needs. I help you to explore the unconscious processes that cause emotional distress and prevent you from feeling at peace with yourself. We will engage closely with the trauma you hold in your body and, in the process, bring you closer to your authentic spiritual self in order to facilitate personal growth.

Eating Disorders Counsellors
What happens in therapy for eating disorders?
In therapy for eating disorders, patients typically describe their eating and exercise behaviours, their patterns of eating in relation to stress, their beliefs about their body, the ways their eating behaviour affects their relationships, and their desire (or lack of it) to change. Such information helps the therapist understand the origins of the disorder and the role it plays in the patient’s life, important for guiding treatment. Attitudes and feelings about food and eating, body weight, and physical appearance are common topics of discussion throughout treatment.

What therapy types help with eating disorders?
Once any acute medical or psychiatric emergency is resolved, psychoactive medication is often prescribed, requiring the supervision of a psychiatrist. In addition, patients receive some form of nutritional counselling along with one or more forms of psychotherapy. For adolescents, family-based treatment is empirically validated and considered the first line of treatment; parents and their children meet weekly with a clinician as the adults are coached on how to nourish and psychologically support the young patient. Adults typically receive some form of individual psychotherapy, intended to resolve the cognitive and behavioural disturbances that underlie the disorder and to relieve the mood disturbances that accompany it. In addition, patients may also be helped by group therapy.

What is the goal of therapy for eating disorders?
The most immediate goal of treatment for eating disorders is to save the life of people who are on a path of starving themselves to death or engaging in eating patterns that are doing irreparable physical harm to their body. Once the acute medical danger is past, therapy is required to understand the nature of the disordered eating and/or exercise patterns, establish healthy eating behaviour, and to tackle the many erroneous beliefs and distorted self-perceptions that underlie eating disorders and continue to pose a threat to health and life. Therapy also addresses the impaired mood that not only accompanies eating disorders but intensifies the danger to health and life.

What are the limitations of therapy for eating disorders?
Therapy can be very helpful for eating disorders—but that can happen only after people recognise they have a condition that must be treated. Especially with anorexia, the distortions in self-image that accompany the disorder can keep people from acknowledging they have a problem. Individuals may in fact see their eating disorder as a badge of self-control. Those with binge-eating disorder may feel too ashamed to seek help. Therapy cannot help those who do not avail themselves of it.

How long does therapy last for eating disorders?
Because of their complexity, recovery from eating disorders is usually a long-term process—measured in months and years— often marked by setbacks and relapse. Some form of help, such as individual or group therapy, may be advisable for much of that time. It is a general rule of thumb that the longer the illness has endured and the dysregulated eating behaviour has taken root, the longer treatment is likely to be needed.
