ADHD Counselling in Dereham
If you are struggling with bereavement, divorce, anticipatory grief, anxiety, or suicidal ideation then please say hello. Our first chat is FREE. I'm interested in endings and beginnings, peacefulness and progress. And bereavement; as death is a fundamental part of life. The end of a relationship, the passing of a loved one, or our own search for meaning. We don’t often talk about death and yet we all experience it in many ways. If we can find a way to live with a peaceful heart we can truly live our best life, whatever that means to us.

Are you struggling with ADHD, addiction, anxiety, depression, low self-esteem or maybe something else?
I am Leon Day, an Integrative Counsellor based in the coastal town of Lowestoft, Suffolk. I offer face‑to‑face counselling, Walk and Talk therapy, the Rewind Technique and online sessions for adults who want a calm, grounded space to explore what’s going on beneath the surface.
Before becoming a counsellor, I spent over a decade working in the NHS as a Mental Health Nurse. Those years shaped the way I work today — steady, compassionate, and deeply respectful of the courage it takes to reach out for support.
In 2021, I retrained as an Integrative Counsellor at Waverley Abbey College and became a registered member of the ACC.

I am neurodivergent myself ( ADHD, and possibly autistic), and I understand how exhausting life and relationships can feel when the world is not designed with neurodivergent minds in mind.
You may be a neurodivergent adult, part of a neurodivergent couple, or supporting a neurodivergent loved one, feeling overwhelmed, misunderstood, or stuck despite having tried many approaches already. You might be struggling with anxiety, emotional overwhelm, relationship difficulties, work or health challenges, or feeling worn down by repeated misunderstandings. You want clarity, understanding, and support that recognises neurodivergence and works with your differences, rather than trying to change who you are.

My specialisms include, substance misuse, addiction, attachment issues, personality disorders (BPD) Bipolar disorder, ADHD, Autism, OCD anxiety and depression, and CPTSD.
Welcome!
My guess is that getting started can be pretty scary to talk to someone you don't know about things that make you feel uncomfortable, sad, angry, overjoyed or embarrassed, but i would like to reassure you that this process is here to help you grow. There are certain elements necessary in therapy to maintain a space of positivity, growth and healing, but you are not responsible for maintaining those elements - that is the job of the therapist - my job.
It is imperative that we maintain a judgement free space that is challenging but comforting and be open about your experience as it unfolds.

When should I seek treatment for ADHD?
You should seek treatment for ADHD if you consistently have difficulty with attention, hyperactivity, or impulsivity that interferes with your daily life. Symptoms of ADHD include the inability to sustain attention during tasks, difficulty organizing tasks and activities, being easily distracted, frequent fidgeting or squirming, and talking or interrupting excessively. If these symptoms interfere with your career, academics, or relationships—for example, consistently failing to complete professional projects on time—you should seek an evaluation for ADHD.
How does treatment for ADHD work?
Effective treatment for ADHD often consists of medication, behavioural therapy, and lifestyle changes. Stimulant medications such as Adderall and Ritalin work by altering levels of neurotransmitters in the brain; higher levels of dopamine and norepinephrine are known to improve attention and focus. Therapy works by helping people with ADHD understand the condition, discuss their areas of difficulty, and develop behavioral strategies to manage their symptoms. In some cases, modifying one’s diet and exercise can also help improve symptoms.
How long does treatment for ADHD take?
It’s tough to give an exact time frame because everyone varies. In terms of medications, stimulants begin to work very soon after you take them, generally within the hour. It may take time to identify the right medication and dosage, but the medication itself is fast-acting. In terms of therapy, it takes time to develop skills and put them into practice, but you will likely see improvements within a few weeks or months.
