Your pronouns will be adhered to, you are accepted just as you are whatever that might be, I proudly welcome you into a queer and trans friendly space, you are not alone
Is something in your life feeling stuck or anxiety ridden? Together we can look at what the stuckness is and untangle it. I facilitate support for you to talk about what's bothering you one step at a time. I offer a warm, accepting space where you can be yourself and explore what is going on for you at your own pace. My approach is relational, showing my humanness and not hiding behind a facade of theory. I listen not only to what is said, but also to the emotions and meaning behind it. I may gently reflect what I notice or ask questions to help you explore things differently, a bit like holding up a mirror to you.

Seeking therapy can be as confusing and daunting as the problems that prompt us toward it. I am here to support you through that journey. I see my role as facilitative and aim to help empower you as we define, discover and work jointly toward your goals. I believe we each tend toward our own best interests and that we are our own experts. I also believe growth and healing needs facilitating. To this end, I work relationally and am interested in how our pasts, experience and ways of relating to our experience influence our present.

Perhaps you've spent years feeling different without quite knowing why, or feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or as though life seems harder than it does for everyone else. Maybe you've recently discovered you're autistic or have ADHD and want to understand yourself more deeply. Or perhaps you're seeking support for anxiety, trauma, OCD, burnout or chronic pain. Therapy shouldn't be about changing who you are. It starts with understanding. My role is to bridge the gap between your lived experience and psychology, translating neuroscience and clinical theory into a compassionate, meaningful and practical understanding of yourself.

A warm welcome. I work with people who have felt dismissed, misunderstood or pathologised, particularly individuals navigating identity, trauma and neurodivergence. Alongside private practice, I’ve worked in CAMHS supporting young people in severe mental health crisis, deepening my understanding of distress and the importance of attunement, patience and safety. Through both lived experience and clinical training, I aim to offer a space where you feel genuinely heard, understood and supported as the unique person you are.

I can offer you a calm, compassionate, non-judgemental space to explore whatever's on your mind or in your heart. I believe that you deserve an approach to therapy that's truly as unique as you are, so I never use 'a one size fits all' approach. Whether there's a certain event that's brought you to counselling, or things just don't feel 'quite right', counselling can help.

I understand that starting therapy can feel daunting, especially if you’ve ever felt misunderstood or dismissed in traditional settings, or unsure how to express yourself. Many neurodivergent clients find that previous therapy hasn’t fully understood their experience. That’s why I’m dedicated to creating a warm, safe, and accommodating space where you can feel understood and valued exactly as you are. I work with an integrative approach, placing you at the heart of therapy in a safe, judgment-free space. My approach is flexible and fluid, adapting to your unique needs and preferences.

Sometimes we need to talk. Or unload. Or work out what needs to change. Sometimes we need to do this with someone who's NOT family or a friend or colleague - someone who can listen deeply and confidentially, with fresh ears - with no bias or judgement. Someone who's steady, accepting and unshockable. What does counselling with me look like? Well, there's no one-size-fits-all. I will tailor it to your needs, session by session. You may have clear objectives, or none at all. It's all ok. We can work it out. I'll certainly want to get to know YOU as a human being, not just the 'issue' you're bringing.

Transgender Counsellors
As a gender-diverse individual, why might I want to see a therapist who is also gender diverse?
A trans or gender-diverse client may want to see a therapist who is also trans or gender diverse because the client may feel safer sharing their experiences and more confident that the therapist will understand, validate, and support them. But trans or gender-diverse clients can also benefit from therapy with cisgender therapists; this is a personal decision based on the connection between the client and the therapist, and if that connection is strong, therapy will be successful.

What if I cannot find a therapist who shares my gender identity?
Therapy can still be effective if a therapist does not share a client’s gender identity; a large body of research indicates that the most important factor in successful therapy is the therapeutic alliance. A therapist can also be interviewed for sensitivity and competence on gender identity and expression to ensure they possess appropriate knowledge and skills. Many therapists have excellent training and extensive experience working with gender-diverse clients, and that expertise can be invaluable despite a therapist not sharing the same firsthand experiences.

How can I recognise a good therapist for working with gender-diverse clients?
An experienced therapist should be able to help clients explore their gender identity and expression, alleviate discomfort related to their gender identity, treat mental health challenges and trauma, address existing relationships and communication with family members and loved ones, and determine the next steps pertaining to nonmedical or medical gender-affirming interventions. To recognise a good therapist, clients can ask about these topics and explore their comfort and connection with the clinician.

How might I inquire about a therapist’s experience working with transgender clients?
Clients should feel comfortable asking therapists directly about their experience working with transgender or gender-diverse clientele. For example, clients may ask about the therapist’s training and education with regard to gender identity, how many trans clients they’ve worked with in the past, and what sorts of matters were discussed. You may wish to inquire how a therapist specifically supports the needs of transgender clients or clients questioning their gender identity. A good clinician who is nonetheless not the right fit for you is often happy to make referrals to others based on the concerns you articulate in a preliminary conversation.
