Life is challenging and can feel like you’re on a hamster wheel of pressure, ‘have-tos’ and obligations. The more you do, the more the wheel spins, and the faster you descend into overwhelm, stress, anxiety, and burn-out. I can support you to overcome these challenges, as well as relational trauma and abuse, racial trauma, grief, low self-esteem, and life transitions. I offer a compassionate space for us to explore what you have experienced in life, how these experiences shaped you, and how you can make comfortable changes that support you to live a joyful, balanced, inspired, and fulfilling life.

The experiences we have early in our lives can often impact our view of the world and ourselves as adults. We may place unhealthy expectations on ourselves or view ourselves in an overly negative light. I can offer you a safe, compassionate and non-judgemental environment in which I can help you to achieve the goals you set yourself at the start of our journey together.

You’re looking for a supportive space to talk openly, feel understood, and begin making sense of what’s happening for you — on your own or together with your partner.

It is amazing how much being listened to helps. Sometimes it is enough to merely let go of the words that have built up inside you over the years. We are all built differently, and a significant amount of my clients have been a little daunted by the thought of talking about themselves for this long, at least at the beginning. I have a patient and relaxed style that my clients tell me help them take things at their own pace. I know that the only ‘right’ way of ‘doing therapy’ is the way that makes you feel safe. No two of my clients are the same therefore I have adopted a style that provides bespoke sessions to each individual.

You may find yourself repeating patterns that feel difficult to understand or change, struggling with anxiety, food, body image, relationships, self-esteem, grief, or a persistent sense of shame or self-criticism. Often these experiences are shaped by earlier relationships and ways of coping that once helped but may now feel limiting. My work is grounded in a relational, psychodynamic approach where we explore how past experiences may continue to shape how you feel about yourself and others today. By bringing greater awareness to these patterns, therapy can create space for understanding, self-compassion and change.

Currently 18 Years in Practice. Being human is mostly hard and life can be cruel. We see it time and time again. Bad things happen to good people, and we suffer. Each and every one of us at some point in our lives, finds ourselves lost and stuck. We can get depressed, anxious, angry, defensive and frightened. We can often avoid the things that bring us pain and as time goes on that list gets longer and longer and our life can feel smaller and smaller. Reaching out for help can be the hardest first step, but it's also the bravest and will prove to be one of the best decisions you will make for yourself.

You might appear to be coping on the outside, while feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or emotionally drained underneath. You may find yourself overthinking, second-guessing yourself, or repeating patterns in your relationships that are hard to change. You might also notice that past experiences are still shaping how you feel, think, or relate to others.

What therapy types help with codependency problems?
Both couples and family therapy and cognitive and behavioral therapy (CBT) can help with the relationship difficulties referred to as codependency. Such problems typically include inappropriate feelings of responsibility for a loved one’s destructive behavior, irrational patterns of thinking about such behavior, and family interaction patterns in which the needs of one troubled member override the needs of others in a household.
What happens in therapy for codependency?
Spouses and family members learn and practice how to interact and support each other in a healthy way without sacrificing their own needs or well-being. They learn the limits of their responsibility for their loved ones and correct faulty patterns of thinking and feeling that underlie codependent behavior. Individuals may be encouraged to nurture an array of social relationships and to cultivate their own talents and interests so that they develop a healthy sense of self outside the family.
How does therapy help a person or couple overcome codependency?
Therapy helps people establish healthy ways of being in a relationship. Spouses and family members learn how to nurture and support one another without sacrificing their own needs or allowing the needs of one person to dominate the dynamic. Individuals learn how to say no and set boundaries, and how to maintain their own identity and self-esteem. Therapy helps people understand that they are not responsible for the feelings and actions of others. It also helps individuals deal with the turbulence that can come from living with a person suffering from such conditions as substance abuse and mental illness.
What is the goal of therapy for codependency?
One goal of therapy for codependency is to alleviate feelings of responsibility for and correct irrational patterns of thinking about loved ones whose behavioral problems override the needs of others in a household. Therapy helps people establish healthy boundaries of behavior and speak up for their own needs in a relationship. In addition, people learn how to maintain a healthy relationship, one in which both parties give and receive equally and are able to retain their own identity.
