Maybe you're burned out, in a relationship that's losing its footing, or facing a life change that's knocked you sideways.
I'm Mathew, a BACP-registered integrative counsellor with over seven years' experience. I draw on person-centred counselling, CBT, psychodynamic and attachment-based therapy — what you actually need, not what fits a template. As a qualified personal trainer too, I integrate how sleep, movement and daily habits shape your mental wellbeing.

I have over 20 years of experience within mental health settings in the NHS and private settings. I believe therapy is about building a non-judgemental and trusting relationship, where we can work together to make sense of your mental health symptoms and find ways to develop more awareness and ways to cope. Finding the right psychological approach is key to the smooth running of this process. Therefore, I utilise a range of psychological approaches that I adapt to suit your needs. My aim within therapy will be to be curious, empathetic and honest and draw on individual strengths.

I believe that we are all unique individuals despite the many different labels that life has to offer us.
My name is Jacqueline and I qualified as a counsellor in 2008. I have since worked with a wide variety of issues such as bereavement, anxiety, low self worth, lack of confidence, addiction, relational issues such as couples, autism, understanding self concept, shyness and much more. I believe that the professional working relationship between the counsellor and client is of fundamental importance as it provides opportunities in which change can occur. For that reason I provide a free assessment of your needs. Also meeting myself prior to engaging in any counseling will help you to decide if I would be the right counsellor for you.

Sometimes a little support, where you are allowed to be yourself without being judged for what has happened, is life changing.
Struggling with stress, anxiety, work-related issues, neurodivergence, discrimination or situations affecting your emotional well-being. These issues could evoke worry, feelings of isolation or fear. You are not alone; by starting your journey with me, it ends with you. Creating the right space allows you to explore what has happened in the past and/or continues to affect you. With support you may be able gain some insight as to why these issues leave you feeling stuck or repeating the same behaviour. Change is achievable, by developing yourself, building confidence and resilience may create a happier you.

My experience is that counselling can assist us with the problems we encounter in life and can help us overcome self-destructive attitudes and behaviour.
My approach (integrative humanist) enables me to draw on several counselling theories which means that I am able to respond flexibly to each client’s specific situation and needs. I have worked with students in a local college, adults in a Community Counselling Service and both young people and adults in my private practice.

Life Coaching Counsellors
What can I expect from life coaching?
Clients and coaches will typically start by identifying the problem area(s) that the client hopes to address—then, the coach will help the client brainstorm potential solutions and explore concrete techniques to help the client attain their goals. Coaching is typically short-term and focused on finding solutions in the here and now, rather than exploring a client’s past. In addition to strategies aimed at the client’s specific concerns, coaches may encourage general stress management techniques such as meditation.

Can a life coach help treat anxiety?
Because the majority of life coaches are not licensed clinicians, they are not qualified to diagnose or treat anxiety. Anyone struggling with anxiety or another mental health condition should seek help from a licensed mental health practitioner. However, some coaching clients who struggle with subclinical anxiety report that working with their coach on other problems—such as career dissatisfaction or unhealthy habits—has a positive effect on their anxiety.

Can life coaching be done online?
Yes. While life coaching often happens in person, many coaches conduct sessions over the phone or via online platforms such as Zoom or Skype. Because life coaches are not subject to local licensing regulations in the same way that therapists are, they are able to see clients who live in other locations.

How long does life coaching last?
Life coaching tends to be a shorter-term process than therapy, though it does not always unfold over a specific period of time and is instead based on the coach’s or the client’s preferences. Coaching often takes place over three to 12 months but may be shorter or longer if necessary.
