At some stage in our lives we all need support. Maybe you are in the depths of despair, at a cross roads, road closed or have a mountain to climb. You have probably lost your way or lost your self. If you need someone by your side to accompany you on your journey no matter how rugged the terrain or how far up or down you are, I am here to offer support.

I believe that life is a gift; yet, at times, it can feel quite the opposite. Sometimes, we can feel overwhelmed by our difficulties. Often, a trained, non-judgmental and objective ear can help order one's thoughts, challenge ingrained patterns of behaviour, and manage emotions.

If you're currently navigating through anxiety, depression, anger management, the aftermath of a painful breakup, grief, trauma, domestic violence, sexual or physical assault, emotional abuse, or any other personal struggle, I want you to know that I'm here to offer my heartfelt support. It's completely understandable if you yearn for a profound change in your life—a transformation that encompasses your relationships, thoughts, and behaviours. While the path ahead may feel overwhelming, I want you to remember that together we can break down these challenges into smaller, more manageable pieces.

My name is Kerry and I believe that every human is unique and deserves to be treated with respect and kindness. In my practice I utilise the abundance of natural environment we have locally and provide bespoke therapy packages to suit you as an individual. I specialise in working with trauma, something we have all experienced to some degree. I have gained a wealth of experience and knowledge of life, by spending 19 years in the Military, followed by running my own personal training business for 11 years. My experiences in the military have given me an insight into the effects of Trauma, PTSD, the adaptions we make to survive.

Hello, thank you for looking at my page and for the courage to seek support for what is troubling you. Talking to a counsellor can help us relieve a burden, anxiety and worry. It can help us to make sense of things and join the dots so that we can discover, see and understand what we could not before and know ourselves better. When we have made mistakes in life or there has been pain and suffering for different reasons, counselling can help to see what we need to do, can help us feel what we’ve been holding on to and can bring clarity and relief.

Having space to talk about how I feel is a waste of time... said: No one ever! Counselling is all it is cracked up to be. Maybe you want to talk to someone but feel unable to share with family or friends. Perhaps you want to make sense of the feelings you are experiencing. People start to heal when they feel truly heard and, by talking things over with a qualified and professional counsellor, it could help you heal from past or present trauma. My approach is Person Centred Therapy and my style is relaxed and friendly. My counselling room is in Exeter with the squishiest chairs but I also work online so you can be comfortable in

It can feel very daunting when you are looking for a counsellor to help you on your journey of exploring your emotions. Its a big step and a commitment to find someone whom you can connect with and trust to share your worries, unpacking some of your emotional baggage. For some the process can feel difficult especially if you havnt had any experience of talking therapy before, a chance for your voice to be heard in a safe space by someone who wont judge you can be the assurance I can provide. Simply talking to someone who isn't part of the family or a friend can feel easier somehow. Counselling is a process that we learn to trust.

The most important thing first: No matter what place you’re in - there is hope for change and for things to get better. You may be reading this feeling vulnerable, disempowered, dejected, fearing disappointment or simply too overwhelmed to know how you feel. I'll meet you wherever you are and with whatever you bring and we can walk through your confusion and distress together. I've had the privilege of working with a diverse range of people with an equally diverse range of individual challenges. Spending time exploring your challenges can bring clarity, empower you to break with old patterns and help you find a positive way forward.

Female Counsellors

Does it matter what gender my therapist is?

In general, this is not an important factor, as there is no relationship between a therapist’s gender and their efficacy. Some clients, however, prefer to see therapists of a particular gender, whether due to their own past experiences with men and women, or ingrained beliefs about how people of different genders think and behave. Exploring the roots of such preferences and considering what one wants to address in therapy can help someone determine whether their therapist’s gender truly matters to them.

Should I see a female therapist?

Many people—not just women—prefer to see a female therapist, either because they believe that a woman will be able to relate to their specific challenges (for example, sexism in the workplace) or because they imagine feeling more comfortable disclosing sensitive information to a woman. Such beliefs may not turn out to be accurate, however, and adhering too rigidly to a gender preference can at times hinder a client from finding the best therapeutic match.

Do therapists get specific training to help with women’s concerns?

Therapists are trained to provide care to clients of any gender. However, some therapists—both men and women—may pursue additional training in feminist therapy, gender-specific issues, or women’s mental health. Female clients may wish to ask prospective therapists whether they have received specific training in the client’s primary area(s) of concern, or whether they have worked extensively with women on issues similar to their own.

How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience in treating women?

It’s OK—even encouraged!—to ask a therapist directly whether and how often they have treated women in the past, or whether they have treated women dealing with the client’s most prominent concern(s). Competent therapists will be happy to share their educational background, preferred treatment modalities, and prior client experience to help an individual find the therapist best suited to their needs.
